Introduction
The GV7700 is a serial digital video transmitter for High Definition component video.
With integrated cable driving technology, the GV7700 is capable of transmitting HD
video at a compressed 270Mb/s or an uncompressed 1.485Gb/s over 75Ω coaxial cable,
or differentially over 100Ω twisted pair cable.
This document describes the use of the IBIS model for the GV7700. The model facilitates
simulation in EDA platforms compliant with the IBIS 5.0 standard.
1. GV7700 IBIS Model
The IBIS model for the GV7700 represents the high-speed serial output: SDO/SDO. The
GV7700 output IBIS model consists of two parts:
Output IBIS model
Package model
The block diagram in Figure 1-1 shows the sequence of signal flow and the individual
parts of the model. The external S-parameter data for the package model increases the
accuracy of the package effects compared to using discrete R, L, and C components as
specified in the IBIS 5.0 standard. The external S-parameter data is processed as part of
the channel by the EDA platform.
Figure 1-1: GV7700 Output Model
The GV7700 SDO IBIS model is extracted from device simulation results. Two models are
included in the output IBIS model file for 50Ω and 75Ω driver termination, with fixed
800mV
pp
(differential) and 800mV
pp
(single ended) swings, respectively. The current
revision of the output IBIS model contains typical (Typ), minimum (Min) and maximum
(Max) corners. The desired termination model and corner can be selected from the EDA
user interface.
1.1 S-Parameter Package Model
A package model for the GV7700 is provided in standard touchstone format. Table 1-1
lists the touchstone file port mappings between die pads and package pins. The SDD21
through response is shown in
Figure 1-2.
Note: During simulation, any unused ports should be terminated to 50Ω.
