Location

the
Printer
When
you
install
the
Gemini
printer,
the
following
points
should
be
observed.
(1)
Place
the
printer
horizontally.
(2)
Avoid
places
where
the
printer
is
exposed
to
direct
sunshine
or
close
to
a
heater,
or
heat
generating
applicances.
(3)
Do
not
operate
the
printer
under
circumstances
of
extreme
high
or
low
temperature,
or
of
strong
vibration.
(4)
Do
not
operate
the
printer
in
a
place
of
high
humidity
or
a
dusty
place
with
oil
or
iron
particles.
(5)
Provide
a
separate
power
supply
away from
applicances
or
noise
generating
motors.
(6)
Power
supply
voltage
shall
be
the
same
voltage
as
specified
on
the
identification
plate.
Extremely
high
or
low power
voltage
may
cause
printer
problems.

Remove
Packing

Screws
for
Shipping
Printer
mechanism
is
secured
by
two
screws
on
the
bottom
of
the
printer
and
packing
material
is
also
placed
inside
the
printer
to
secure
the
print
head
and
platen
during
shipping.
Before
you
use
your
printer,
remove
packing
and
screws
with
the
following
procedures.
Please
keep
packing
and
screws,
if
necessary
for
further
printer
shipping.
(1)
Place
the
Gemini
printer
upside
down
on
a
soft
material
like
a foam
rubber
cushion.
(2)
Remove two
screws
with
screwdriver
as
illustrated
in
Fig.
1-5.

the
printer
to
its
original
position.

Tractor
Unit
The Gemini
tractor
unit
is
easy
to
remove
or
install.
During
shipment,
the
tractor
unit
is
mounted
on
the
printer.
However,
this
unit
is
only
necessary
for
Sprocket
paper.
When
other
papers
(Single
sheet,
Roll
paper)
are
used,
the
unit
should
be
removed.

Turn
off
the
power
switch.(This
is
not
really
a
"requirement".)

Remove
the
printer
cover.
(3)
Identify
the
"snap
levers"
by
comparing
your
printer
with
the
Gemini
shown
in
Fig.
1-7.

Pull
both
"snap
levers"
forward
(the
one on
the
right
and
the
one on
the
left
of
the
tractor
unit),
and
at
the
same
time
•••

Rock
the
tractor
unit
up and
back,
about
a
half-inch.
The
tractor
unit
rests
On
two
"stoppers"
just
above
the
right
and
left
ends
of
the
platen.
This
step
in
removing
the
tractor
is
done
by
simply
rocking
the
unit
backwards,
after
you've
released
the
snap
levers
that
hold
it
in
place.

Now
lift
the
tractor
unit
toward
you,
up
and
forward
from
the
printer.

head
gently
with
your
fingures
to
the
approximate
center
of
its
pathway.

Begin
by
setting
either

spool
securely
on
a
ribbon

axis.

sure
you
have
the
spool
positioned
so
it

wind/unwind

shown
in
the
figures.

you

want
to
use
a
ball-point
pen
to
lightly
press
the
ribhon
guide
towards
the
platen.

ribbon

slot

head

ribbon
guide.

to
avoid
misprints
or
the
ribbon
coming
off
during

Two
wrongs
don't

threading
