Ditek DTK-120SLR Installation guide

  • Hello! I've reviewed the Installation Instructions for the DITEK Surge Protector DTK-120SLR. This document outlines the proper procedures for wiring and installing this surge protection device. It also describes the use of LED indicators and other features you may want to know about. I'm ready to answer your questions about the device and its installation.
  • What type of surge protective device is this?
What is the voltage and current rating for this device?
What action will this device take if compromised?
What wire gauge should I use for 20 Amp circuits?
What does the green LED indicate?

NOTICE: This SPD should be installed by a licensed contractor in accordance with all applicable
National and Local Electrical Codes and the following instructions.
APPLICATION
Type 2 SPD for hardwired installation in series with a 120 VAC single phase circuit up to 20 Amps.
Model DTK-120SLR is designed to disconnect power to the protected equipment if compromised.
INSTRUCTIONS
Caution: Measure all voltages to verify applied voltage does not exceed the voltage rating of
the unit. Improper installation voids the warranty.
NOTE: Suitable for use on a circuit capable of delivering not more than 10,000 rms symmetrical
Amperes when protected by a circuit breaker rated 20 Amps and minimum 120 Volts.
Warning: This SPD contains no serviceable parts.
1. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker or main electrical panel before beginning installation.
2. Securely mount the SPD between the supplied power wiring and the equipment to be protected.
3. Allow at least 3 feet of conductor length between the SPD and the protected equipment.
4. The SPD enclosure is designed to accept 1/2” NPT conduit fittings.
5. For 20 Amp circuits, use minimum 12 AWG stranded or solid copper wire.
6. For 15 Amp circuits, use minimum 14 AWG stranded or solid copper wire.
7. Remove the SPD enclosure cover by loosening the (4) top screws.
8. Connect the phase supply wire (Black) to the “LINE-IN” terminal lug.
9. Connect the neutral supply wire (White) to the “NEUT-IN” terminal lug .
10. Connect the ground supply wire (Green or bare copper) to the “EARTH” terminal lug.
11. Connect the equipment phase wire (Black) to the “LINE-OUT” terminal lug.
12. Connect the equipment neutral wire (White) to the “NEUT-OUT” terminal lug.
13. Connect the equipment ground wire (Green or bare copper) to the “EARTH” terminal lug.
14. Torque all lug terminals to listed spec ratings located on the printed circuit board.
15. Replace the SPD enclosure cover and tighten the (4) top screws.
16. After all connections have been made and no hazards exist, restore power.
17. Verify that the red LED is on. This signifies that the unit is energized at the “AC In” side terminals.
18. Verify that the green LED is on. This signifies that surge protection is active and power is allowed to
pass through to the equipment. If this LED is off, the unit has self-sacrificed and needs to be
replaced. No power will pass through to the connected equipment. However, the SPD is still
energized at the “AC In” side terminals.
