Tare Setback
What Is Tare Setback? If the tare value in your database is set up for weigh after wrap
(the tare includes the weight of the film), then you need the Tare
Setback feature. If it is set up for weigh before wrap (the tare does
not include the weight of the film), you will not need the Tare
Setback feature.
The Tare Setback feature subtracts the weight of the film
(typically 0.01 lb) from the PLU tare value.
When the scale is at zero (nothing on the platter), you will notice a
difference between the tare value and the net weight value (the
minus value). This difference indicates the Tare Setback, which is
set up in Supervisor mode.
Why It Is There. In Automatic mode the UWS weighs the product before it is
wrapped. Tare Setback subtracts the tare for the wrap (typically
0.01 lb) before wrapping.
When It Is Used. The Tare Setback feature is only in Automatic mode. It is not in
Semi-Automatic or Manual modes, since the packages are already
wrapped. For example, when running a prepackaged product,
such as chicken, do not use Automatic mode. To get the proper
tare value, use Manual mode for small quantities or Semi-
Automatic mode for large quantities.
