*RTP-300+ probes are not compatible with the MARS 6 unit as they are shorter than the MTS-300 probe and will not reach
the bottom of the thermowell in the control vessel if used in the MARS 6.
Tips to maximize the lifetime of the probe
Proper care and handling will insure the maximum lifetime from the ber optic temperature probe.
• Store the ber optic probe in a secure place when not in use.
• Do not leave the probe attached to the ceiling connector. If left inside the cavity, probes can be damaged or broken by
accidental contact.
• Remove any liquid or debris that gets on the probe with a wet paper towel. Start at the base of the connector and gently
pull toward the tip. Dry the probe before the next use.
Assembly Precautions
• The probes have a unique GF number that must be entered into the MARS software in order to read temperature
accurately. Each time a new probe is installed, the correct GF number must be entered.
• The probe should be the last thing in when assembling the control vessel and the rst thing out when disassembling it
• Attach the ESP-1500+ pressure line, if applicable, and torque the screw before placing the ber optic probe into the
control vessel.
• Install the ber optic probe in the control vessel assembly before placing the vessel inside the microwave cavity. Do
not force or bend the probe while inserting into the control vessel assembly. The probe should easily slide in and
out. If it binds, check the alignment of the vessel assembly.
• Ensure that the ber optic probe and ESP-1500+ pressure line will not become entangled during the run.
• Secure the ESP-1500+ pressure line into the ceiling clip to avoid tension on the ber optic probe as the turntable
rotates.
• Snap the probe rmly into the ceiling connector and verify that it is reading temperature accurately.
• Upon completion of the cool down portion of the program, disconnect the probe by gently pulling down on the connector
end. Do not yank down on the probe, as this could damage the ber if it bends across the top of the vessel frame.
