4. Turning Blanks
Turn the blank to your desired shape or design.
5. Finishing the Blanks
Apply a finish of your choice.
6. Assembly
Unscrew the wood from the mandrel. Add a few drops of thick
CA or epoxy in the threaded hole of the wood, prior to screwing
it onto the stopper. Thread the stainless steel stopper onto the
turned blank, and be sure to let the adhesive cure per the manu-
facturers recommended time.

General Instructions
Whether you’re a novice turner or a pro, you’ll find these projects
are all quick and easy to make. Using cut-offs and shorts, the
type everyone saves but doesn’t know what to do with, you’ll find
yourself making handsome, custom woodturning projects which
are great for gifts or for sale. Wood sold separately.
1. Cutting Blanks
Cut wooden blanks to measure approximately 11/2" x 11/2" x 2"
long.
2. Drilling
Blanks
Using and 11/32" brad point
bit, center and bore a 9/16"
deep hole. For harder
and denser woods such
as Ebony, Cocobolo, and
Blackwood use a 9mm brad
point bit, center and bore
9/16" deep hole.
3. Mandrel Preparation
1. Mount the bottle stopper mandrel (#149769) on your lathe
using a chuck, drill chuck, or Morse Taper driver.
2. Screw the blank onto the mandrel until the wood shoulders
against the round stop collar.
3. Support the other end of the blank with the tailstock.
