Before Use
The MH-2671-U3 Classic is preformatted as a single NTFS partition for compatibility with all
updated Windows OS. To use the drive with a Mac computer, recommend to reformat the drive to
HFS+.
CAUTION! Reformatting the drive will erase ALL data.
If there are files on the drive, please make sure back them up before reformatting it.

Connecting the device
1. Turn on your PC/Laptop.
2. Plug the USB 3.0 micro B type connector to the back of the drive.
3. Connect another end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your PC/Laptop.
4. Verify that the drive appears under My Computer in Windows Explorer or the drive icon will
display on the desktop.
NoteIt may take few seconds for your computer to configure your drive.
Disconnecting the device
Right click the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the System Tray and select Safely Remove
Hardware. You are able to disconnect the drive safely as the drive power down properly.
Reformatting on Windows MH-2671-U3 Ultra Slim External Hard Drive
Caution! Formatting will erase ALL data on storage device. Please make sure
back up all data before performing formatting steps.
Note Refer to your operating systems documentation for more information on reformatting and
partitioning your storage device.
Windows Users
- Use NTFS to format the drive if you will be using the storage device with Windows. The
performance will be enhanced if comparing to FAT32. However, this file system is compatible in
read only with Mac OS 10.3 or above.
- Use FAT32 to format the drive if you will be using your storage device with both Windows &
Mac, but maximum single file size is limited to 4GB.
1. Make sure the storage device is well connected to and mounted on your computer.
2. Right click My Computer icon and select the Manage.
3. Select Disk Management from the Computer Management tool.
4. Right click the drive you wish to format and then select Delete Partition.
5. Once the drive partition has been deleted, right click the drive again and select New Partition.
6. The New Partition Wizard will appear. Select Primary Partition and then enter the desired
size of the partition.
7. From the File System menu, select a desired format mode and format.

Mac Users
- Use HFS+ to format the drive if you will be using the storage device on Macs only. The
performance will be enhances if comparing to FAT32. However, HFS+ is NOT able to
compatible with Windows OS.
- Use FAT32 to format the drive if you will be using the storage device with both Windows & Mac,
but maximum single file size is limited to 4GB.
1. Make sure the storage device is well connected to and mounted on your computer.
2. Launch Disk Utility tool of Mac OS.
3. Open the main drive folder from the desktop.
4. Open the Applications folder and then the Utilities folder.
5. Double click Disk Utility and select the drive you wish to format.
You should see the hard drive listed in the left column. It should show the drive size with a
second indented line beneath it that shows the volume of the drive.
6. Click the Erase tab.
7. Select a format from the Volume Format menu.
8. Give the volume a name.
9. Click Erase. You may receive a warning and will need to click Erase again.
10. Once formatting is complete, the drive will appear on your desktop.
Troubleshooting MH-2671-U3 Ultra Slim External Hard Drive
Drive does not appear in my computer / on my desktop
1. Check the status of power LED and see if it is power-on.
2. Make sure the USB cable and connectors are not damaged and firmly connected by both ends.
3. Remove the hard drive and then reconnect after 10 seconds.
4. Check the Device Manager and see if the hard drive is recognized by USB port.
5. Be sure to install necessarily drivers if connect the hard drive via PCI adapter.
6. The drive may not be receiving enough power from the USB bus on your computer. Try
connecting a USB Y-cable.
My computer wont boot when I connect the external storage drive to the computer before
booting.
Remove all external devices before you turn on computer.
A message appears that I have a high-speed device connected to a low-speed port
(Windows XP)
This is normal. Windows XP displays a message that you have connected your USB 3.0 drive to a
USB 2.0 port. You will not have the SuperSpeed capabilities that you would have to use a USB 3.0
port.
Data transfer rate seems slow
1. Make sure this USB 3.0 storage device is connected directly to a USB 3.0 port or hub.
2. If there are other devices connected to the hub, please disconnect the other USB devices.
3. Your system may be operating at lower speeds due to an incorrect driver installation or your
system does not support USB 3.0
What happens when a USB 3.0 device is plugged into a USB 2.0 port or hub?
USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0, so the device still works fine. When connected to a
USB 2.0 port or hub, a USB 3.0 device operates at the USB 2.0 HighSpeed of up to 480 Mbps.
