MATCHIT 200/300/600 (TM) IMPEDANCE CORRECTOR
The MATCHIT (TM) is a high quality, reasonable cost device that solves the problem often encountered when
the speakers you wish to use have a lower impedance than your amplifier can accommodate. It employs a tri-filar
wound transformer with taps which allow selection of the desired impedance to the amplifier while maintaining a
flat frequency response for optimum sound reproduction.
As provided, the MATCHIT (TM) doubles the impedance of the speaker as seen by the amplifier; a 6 Ohm
speaker will appear as 12 Ohms to the amplifier, or a 4 Ohm speaker will appear as 8 Ohms. This means that any
speaker presently on the market can be used safely with any amplifier or receiver, including those that cannot
normally operate with any speakers of lower than 8 Ohms impedance.
Since a transformer is used to achieve a safe impedance load, there is no heat or power loss in the use of the
MATCHIT (TM). There is a 3 dB level drop to the speaker, but no amplifier output is wasted as heat.
The MATCHIT (TM) is very small, only 2 1/2" long and 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" high. It has 2-screw connectors
at each end, and mounting holes for convenient mounting. It can be located at the amplifier output or the speaker
input terminals, or anywhere between, as convenient. One MATCHIT (TM) is required for each speaker channel.
Power rating Peak Watts: 216, 300 or 600 watts. RMS Rating: 72, 100 or 200 Watts. The MATCHIT (TM) is
factory wired to double the speaker impedance; adjustable taps are provided to multiply the speaker impedance by 4,
8, or even 16 times if needed to parallel multiple pairs of speakers across the amplifier output.
