3.3.2 Spot Testing
Asageneralruleinspottesting,testvoltageshouldbeapplieduntilno
variation in reading is noted for 15 seconds, or applied for a xed 60
seconds.
What minimum value should be measured?
TheIEEEstandardNo.43-1974statesthatitisimpossibletospecifythe
valueofinsulationresistanceatwhichawindingwillfailelectrically,buton
motors,minimumreadingsgenerallystatedare:

3.3.3 Ratio Testing
In timed resistance testing (Dielectric Absorption Ratio), readings are
takenat30and60secondstoobtainthedielectricabsorptionratio.
