andexperiencedintheareasofriggingandflyingloudspeakersystems.
Thesuspensionoflarge,heavyobjects inpublicplacesissubjecttonumerouslawsandregulationsatthe
national/federal,state/provincial,andlocallevels.Thismanualdoesnotaddressthespecificsofanysuchapplicable
lawsandgovernmentregulations.Thismanualdetailsproceduresandpracticesconsistentwiththosegenerally
acknowledgedasallowableandsafeinEurope.However,theusermustassumeresponsibilityformakingsurethat
useofanyK-arraysystemandits components inanyparticularcircumstanceorvenueconformstoallapplicablelaws
andregulationsinforceatthetime.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
ThedesignandsafeworkingloadratingsoftheK-arraysystem,unlessotherwisespecified,arebasedoneithera5:1
or7:1safetyfactor.Howevertherearewidevariationsinternationallyintheregulationsandpracticesapplyingto
suspensionofsoundsystemsinpublicplaces.Governmentofficialsinonelocationmayhaveastricterinterpretation
thananotherlocalofficial,evenwhenoperatingunderthesameregulationsandinthesamelegaljurisdiction.
Inmosttouringapplicationsofriggingsystems,thetouringsoundproviderisnormallyresponsibleforensuringthe
safetyofthesuspensionsystemonlybelowtheattachmentpoint.Thesafetyandsuitabilityoftheattachmentpointis
generallyseenastheresponsibilityofthevenueowneroroperator.However,thisdistinction(“abovethehook”
versus“belowthehook”)canbeopentointerpretation.Touringsystemoperatorsshoulddouble-checktomake
certainthatattachmentpoints areapprovedandsuitablyloadrated,andthatthepoints usedarethoseidentifiedas
suchbythevenueowneroroperator.
Inanycase,K-arraysystemsareintendedonlyforsuspensionfromapprovedriggingpoints,eachknowntohave
amplesafeworkingloadsmarginsforthesystemcomponents suspendedbelowthem.
MANY ISSUESOFCRUCIAL CONCERN,SUCH ASTHEDETERMINATIONOF APPROPRIATENESS ANDCONDITIONOF
VENUERIGGINGPOINTS,CANNOTBE ADDRESSEDHERE.THEREFORE,THEUSERMUST ASSUME ALL
