SelectingtheProperHeight-of-Cut
SettingtoSuittheConditions
Removeapproximately1inchornomorethan1/3ofthe
grassbladewhencutting.Inexceptionallylushanddense
grassyoumayneedtoraisetheheight-of-cutsettinganother
notchorconverttoside-dischargingorbaggingoperations.
MowingLongGrass
Ifthegrasshasgrownslightlylongerthannormal,orifit
containsahighdegreeofmoisture,raisethecuttingheight
higherthanusualandcutthegrassatthissetting.Thencut
thegrassagainusingthelower,normalsetting.
MowinginExtremeConditions
Airisrequiredtocutandrecutgrassclippingsinthemower
deck,sodonotsettheheight-of-cuttoolowortotally
surroundthehousingbyuncutgrass.Alwayshaveoneside
ofthemowerdeckfreefromuncutgrass,allowingairtobe
drawnintothehousing.Whenmakinganinitialcutthrough
thecenteroftheuncutarea,operatethemachineataslower
speedandbackupifthemowerdeckstartstoclog.
MowingattheProperIntervals
Undernormalconditionsyou'llneedtomowevery4to5
days.However,grassgrowsatdifferentratesatdifferent
times.Inordertomaintainthesameheight-of-cut,cutmore
frequentlyinearlyspring;asthegrassgrowthrateslowsin
midsummer,cutonlyevery8to10days.Ifyouareunableto
mowforanextendedperiodduetotheweatherconditionsor
otherreasons,converttoside-dischargingorbaggingoptions
ormowrstwiththeheight-of-cutatahighlevel;thenmow
again2to3dayslateratalowerheightsetting.
MowingwithSharpBlades
Asharpbladecutscleanlyandwithouttearingorshredding
thegrassbladelikeadullblade.Tearingandshreddingcauses
thegrasstoturnbrownattheedges,whichimpairsgrowth
andincreasessusceptibilitytodisease.

CleaningafterOperating
Toensureoptimumperformance,cleantheundersideofthe
mowerdeck.Allowingtheresiduetobuildupinmowerdeck
willdecreasecuttingperformance.
