PRECAUTIONS
POWER SUPPLY
The main power supply is engaged when the main plug is
plugged in a 220-240 V~, 50 Hz AC outlet. To operate the
unit, press [Q(standby-on)] to turn on the unit.
WARNING: LIVE PARTS INSIDE.
DO NOT REMOVE ANY SCREWS.
CAUTION
1) Do not attempt to open the cabinet. There are no user
serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified
service personnel.
2) Slots and openings in the cabinet and the sides or
bottom are provided for ventilation. To ensure reliable
operation and to protect the unit from overheating, these
openings must not be blocked or covered.
Avoid installation in enclosed spaces such as bookcases
unless proper ventilation is provided.
3) Keep the unit away from radiators and other heat
sources.
4) Do not push objects of any kind into the unit through
the cabinet slots or openings as they could touch
electrically live parts or short circuit parts resulting in a
fire or electric shock.
5) To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this unit
to dripping or splashing, no objects filled with liquids,
such as vases, should be placed on the unit.
6) Use the unit on a horizontal (flat) surface only.
7) Do not place any combustible objects on the unit
(candles, etc.).
8) The LCD panel used in this product is made of glass.
Therefore, it can break when the product is dropped or
applied with impact. Be careful not to be injured by
broken glass pieces in case the LCD panel breaks.
The LCD panel is a very high technology product with
921,600 thin film transistors, giving you fine picture
details. Occasionally, a few non-active pixels may appear
on the TV screen as a fixed point of blue, green or red.
Please note that this does not affect the performance of
your product.
9) Disconnect the mains plug to switch off when the unit
becomes faulty or not in use.
10) The mains plug shall remain readily operable.
11) Read the manual instructions to ensure correct and safe
installation and interconnection of the unit in
multimedia systems.
12) Keep a distance of 20 cm around the ventilation
openings of the unit.
13) Batteries (battery pack or batteries installed) shall not be
exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the
like.

THINGS TO DO FOR THE FIRST TIME
ATTACHING THE STAND
You need to attach the stand to the unit to display upright. Make sure the front and rear of the stand match the proper direction.
To remove the stand from this unit
Unscrew the Phillips pan screws indicated by “C”. Pull up
the stand in the direction of the rear of the unit. Be careful
not to drop the stand when you remove it.
1) Place the unit face down onto
the soft stuff such as a cloth on a
table. Be careful not to damage
the unit screen.
2) Hang the hook under the
bottom of the main unit to the
stand’s hole (shown arrow A),
then slide down the stand in the
direction of the screen (shown
arrow B).
Make sure not to put the AC
power cord between the stand
and the unit.
3) Drive Phillips pan screws in
the 3 threaded holes at the
bottom of the stand with a
screwdriver tightly.

Note: When attaching the stand, make sure that all the screws are tightly fastened. If
the stand is not attached properly, the unit may fall down, resulting in injuries
as well as damage to the unit.
• Make sure to use the table which can support the weight and size of the unit.
Make sure that the table is in a stable location.

a PC.
35. HDMI (HDMI 1 / HDMI 2) input jack
Connect an HDMI cable (not supplied) to the HDMI
output jack of an external device.
36. C.I. (Common Interface) slot
Common Interface (CI) Module: Insert the CI module.
37. AC power cord
Connect to a standard AC outlet to supply power to this
unit.
Note: The AUDIO (L) jack is for monaural input. The
sound is heard from both speakers. Use this jack for
a monaural audio device.
Note: *service terminal (service use only)
• Use this terminal only when a software update is
necessary.
User should not connect any devices to the service
terminal such as digital camera, keyboard, mouse,
etc. (because these will not work).
• The software update is, in most cases, handled by
an authorized service person or in some
circumstances the user may be asked to do the
software upgrade themselves.

PREPARATION FOR USE
Installing the Batteries
1) Open the battery compartment cover.
2) Insert “R6/AA” penlight batteries into battery compartment in
the direction as indicated by the polarity (+/–) markings.
Batteries installed with incorrect polarity may damage the remote
unit.
3) Close the cover.
4) Push the cover on its top side until it clicks in order to fit the
cover completely to the compartment.
Antenna Connection
1) Connect an RF cable (not supplied) to (Aerial) input jack
at the rear of this unit.
2) Plug this unit into an AC outlet.
3) The STAND BY / POWER indicator on the front panel
lights red, then press [Q(standby-on)] to turn on the unit.
External Connection
[HDMI CONNECTION]
HDMI connection offers the highest picture quality. HDMI
(High Definition Multimedia Interface) transports high
definition video and multi-channel digital audio through a single
cable.
Connect the HDMI output jack of your video device and the
HDMI-IN (HDMI 1 or HDMI 2) jack of this unit. Use an
HDMI cable (not supplied).
[SCART CONNECTION]
Scart connection offers better picture quality.
Connect the scart jack of your video device and the SCART jack
of this unit. Use a scart cable (not supplied).
Note: If you like to connect an active DVB-T antenna, the
antenna must have its own power supply.
It is not possible to power the antenna from the TV.

By connecting an HDMI cable to your Funai LCD TV, you
have to use only a certified HDMI cable to guarantee a
sufficient immunity against parasitic frequency radiation.
A certified HDMI cable can be identified by the HDMI logo
on the cable or the cable package.
Note: This unit accepts 480i / 480p / 576i / 576p /
720p / 1080i / 1080p video signals and 32 kHz /
44.1 kHz / 48 kHz audio signals.
This unit accepts only 2 channel audio signals
(LPCM).
You need to select “PCM” for the digital audio
output of the device you connect. Make sure the
device outputs the digital audio. Audio sometimes
makes no sound if you select “Bitstream”, etc.

1) Connect the component video output jack (Y, Pb, Pr) of your
video device and the COMPONENT video (Y, Pb, Pr) input
jack of this unit. Use an RCA component video cable (not
supplied).
2) Connect the audio output jack of your device and the
AUDIO (L/R) input jack of this unit. Use an RCA audio
cable (not supplied).
[S-VIDEO CONNECTION]
S-Video connection offers good picture quality.
1) Connect the S-Video output jack of your video device and
the S-VIDEO input jack of this unit. Use an S-Video cable

[PC CONNECTION]
If you connect this unit and your PC, you can use this unit as a
computer monitor.
1) Connect the monitor jack of your PC and the PC-IN (RGB)
jack of this unit. Use a VGA cable with ferrite core (not
supplied).
2) Connect the audio line out jack of your PC and the PC-IN
(AUDIO) jack of this unit. Use a mini-plug audio cable (not
supplied).
Precautions for the connection to other devices:
Please use the VGA cable that has a ferrite core.

SETUP FOR USE
Initial Setting
You need to set the followings to use the unit appropriately for the
first time you turn on the unit.
1) Press [Q(standby-on)] to turn on the unit.
“Initial Setup” language menu will appear.
2) Press [K / L] repeatedly to select the menu language you
want, then press [OK].
3) Press [K / L] to select the country you want, then press
[OK].
Scan confirmation menu will appear.
4) Press [K / L] to select “Scan”, then press [OK].
Channel scanning will start automatically.
When the scanning is completed “Congratulations !!”
message will appear.
Note: The settings may be limited by the location you
purchased.
Note: If you select “Skip” in scan confirmation menu, the
operation will be cancelled.
If you press [BACK] during auto scanning, the
operation will be cancelled.

OPERATIONS
Watching a TV Programme
To select a channel
Press [/] repeatedly to select your desired channel.
or
Press [the Number buttons] to enter a channel number then
[OK] for quicker access.
• If you want to select the channel 24 without pressing [OK],
press [2] first, then press [4] within 3 seconds.
To adjust the volume
Press [+/] to adjust the audio volume.
• You can see the volume bar while adjusting the volume.
Press [ (mute)] to turn on or off the sound right away.
• You can recover the original volume by pressing [ (mute)]
again or [+/].
Sleep Timer
You can set the unit to be turned off automatically after a set time
period (from 10 to 120 minutes).
1) Press [SLEEP].
Sleep timer display will appear.
2) Press [SLEEP] repeatedly to change the sleep time period.
Between Off and 60 minutes, the interval of time is 10
minutes. After 60 minutes, the timer increases by 30
minutes until Off.
To cancel the sleep timer
1) Press [SLEEP].
Sleep timer display will appear.
2) Press [SLEEP] repeatedly until “Sleep Off” appears.
Switching the Input Mode
You can switch the input mode to TV mode or external input
mode.
1) Press [INPUT].
“Select Input” menu will appear.
2) Press [K / L] to select the input mode you want, then press
[OK].
Note: If you disconnect the unit from the AC outlet or if a
power failure occurs, the sleep timer will be cancelled.

EPG (Electronic Programme Guide)
You can easily find a channel or see the detailed channel
information. EPG gives you scheduled information of the TV
programmes.
1) Press [GUIDE].
• EPG will appear.
2) Press [K / L] to select a channel, then press [B].
• Press [RED] or [GREEN] to move the channel list to the
previous or next page.
• Press [OK] to watch the selected channel.
3) Press [K / L] to select a programme.
• Press [RED] or [GREEN] to move the programme list to the
previous or next day.
• Press [OK] to watch the selected programme if it is currently
available.
4) Press [YELLOW] to display more detailed programme
information.
5) Press [GUIDE] to exit.
Note: When the programme information consists of more than
2 pages, press [RED] or [GREEN] to move to the
previous or next page.

Changing the TV Screen Display Mode
You can select your favourite TV screen size.
Press [ASPECT] repeatedly to switch the TV screen display
mode.
For SD (Standard Definition) video signal
“Auto”
Selects the TV screen display mode automatically.
This is the default.
“Sidebar”
Displays a 4:3 picture at its original size. Sidebars appear on both
edge of the TV screen.
“Full”
Displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size; the picture is stretched
horizontally to fill the TV screen.
“Cinema”
Displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size; the picture is stretched
horizontally and vertically to fill the TV screen. This crops out the
top and bottom of the picture.
“Wide”
Displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size; the centre of the picture is at
its original size and the edges stretched horizontally to fill the TV
screen.
“14:9”
Displays a 4:3 picture at a 14:9 size. Sidebars will be displayed on
both edge of the TV screen.
For HD (High Definition) video signal
“Auto”
Selects the TV screen display mode automatically.
This is the default.
“Full”
Displays a 16:9 picture at its original size.
“Zoom”
Displays a 16:9 picture at its maximum size without changing its
horizontal and vertical ratio.
“Cinema”
Displays a vertically stretched picture.
“Expand”
Displays a horizontally stretched picture.
For PC input signal
“Normal”
Displays a proportionally stretched picture. Mainly sidebars
appear on both edges of the TV screen.
“Full”
Displays a picture that is stretched out of proportion to fill the TV
screen.
“Dot by Dot”
Displays a picture at its original size.

Picture Adjustment
You can adjust the picture settings according to your personal
preference. These settings are automatically stored after exiting the
picture menu.
1) Press [MENU] to display the menu.
2) Press [K / L] to select “Picture”, then press [OK].
“Picture Mode
3) Press [K / L] to select “Picture Mode”.
4) Press [s / B] to select the setting (“Standard, Dynamic,
Movie, News, Personal”) you want.
“Brightness, Contrast, Colour, Hue, Sharpness”
3) Press [K / L] to select the item you want, then press [OK].
4) Press [s / B] to adjust, then press [OK].
“Colour Temperature”
3) Press [K / L] to select “Colour Temperature”.
4) Press [s / B] to select the setting (“Cool, Normal, Warm”)
you want.
5) Press [MENU] to exit.
Note: Press [K / L] to change the items.
Note: When this unit is connected to PC, you can not select
“Colour”, “Hue” and “Sharpness”.
If you adjust the settings in other than “Personal”
mode, “Picture Mode” will be changed to “Personal”.

Advanced Picture Adjustment
You can adjust the detailed picture settings according to your
personal preference.
1) Press [MENU] to display the menu.
2) Press [K / L] to select “Picture”, then press [OK].
3) Press [K / L] to select “Features”, then press [OK].
• “Features” menu will appear.
“DNR (Digital Noise Reduction)”
You can adjust to reduce the appearance of digitizing error caused
by the compression.
4) Press [K / L] to select “DNR”.
5) Press [s / B] to select the setting (“Low, Mid, High”) you
want.
“CTI (Colour Transient Intensity)”
You can adjust the picture for colour errors.
4) Press [K / L] to select “CTI”.
5) Press [s / B] to select the setting (“Low, Mid, High”) you
want.
“Flesh Tone”
You can set to activate the flesh colours or not.
4) Press [K / L] to select “Flesh Tone”.
5) Press [s / B] to select the setting (“On, Off”) you want.
“Adaptive Luma Control”
You can adjust changes in the luminance of the picture.
4) Press [K / L] to select “Adaptive Luma Control”.
5) Press [s / B] to select the setting (“On, Off”) you want.
“Backlight”
4) Press [K / L] to select “Backlight”, then press [OK].

your PC is connected.
