1. What to know before you start
Here are a few things you need to know before you start using the Jabra Xpress.
a) You cannot reuse anything from the current Jabra Xpress. Any settings, firmware, etc. need to be
redone.
b) We support these browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. We do not support Internet
Explorer.
c) Data from the Jabra Direct application is sent to the Jabra Cloud, hosted by Microsoft Azure.
d) In this version we only support a Cloud-enabled solution. Later this year we also have an on-
premises solution.
e) The Dashboards and Analytics are for our new devices that are coming up, so don’t worry if you
don’t see any data yet. We will continue to build relevant dashboards for other devices.
The end-user must have admin rights to install Jabra Direct and the Jabra Firmware Updater.

2. Registration in Jabra Xpress
To get started, go to the webpage xpress.jabra.com.
Step 1 - Click on Register
In the Login dialogue window, click on the link Register to setup your user profile:
Step 2 - Fill out Registration form
A new pop-up will open so you can enter the relevant info; all three fields must be filled out. Click the
‘Register’ button to create your company:
Now you will able to login with the credentials just entered
Note: Please remember your password. Currently, we are NOT able to resend it to you. We suggest that
you create two ADMIN users after the first login, go to Administration -> User management in the Jabra
Xpress application.

3. Navigation in Jabra Xpress
Once you are logged in, you have access to the Jabra Xpress environment and can manage Jabra devices.
The side menu of Jabra Xpress allows you quick access to all the features in Jabra Xpress.
Home
The Home page gives you an overview and status of your devices, notifications etc. You can click on
each card header to open the relevant page associated with it.
Devices
Inventory
All the devices that you have in your inventory are listed here.
Manage
Gives you the ability to manage devices, which means that you can select the firmware for each device
and change the settings for these devices.

Analytics
Dashboard
For Jabra’s most advanced devices there are dashboards showing the digital experiences for these
devices. For now, this is for upcoming devices.
Reports
If you want to get into the details of the data, you can do it in the Reports part of Jabra Xpress. Here
you can do deep dive into your organization’s data and export data (JSON format) to another program,
like Excel.
Administration
Download
In this section you can download the Jabra Direct software for Windows or Mac. This is also where you
agree to the End User License Agreement.
Jabra Direct Settings
This is the configuration section where you can control the experience of Jabra Direct for the end-user.
As an example, you can select the preferred softphone for the end-user.
Packages
Here you can see the packages or groups that you have in your environment. A package is a
configuration of settings that can be deployed for a group of clients to have the same setup and
settings.
User Management
Here you can create and manage the user profiles and permissions that have been setup for your
company.
4. First deployment of Jabra Direct
To get started with managing the Jabra devices in your organization, you need to deploy the Jabra Direct
software to each PC and Mac that will be connected to the Jabra devices you want to manage.
Step 1 - Select the settings for Jabra Direct
In order to control a setting, first you need to check the checkbox associated with that setting, then you
can set it. Once you have checked a setting and saved it, the setting will be write protected and the end
user will not be able to change it.
If you have not checked a setting, it will be open to the end user to change.
Please note that these settings have nothing to do with device firmware updates or device settings
these are only for the application itself.

Remember to click Save when you are done – otherwise the settings are not saved.
Settings explanation
• Enable Feedback: If the Jabra Direct client will give the user access to give feedback on Jabra
Direct and Devices.
• Analytics Endpoint: Specifies where analytics data is stored. Without this endpoint, analytics
can’t be collected.
• Show Desktop Notifications: Enables native desktop notifications with messages from Jabra
Direct.
• Show Application Icon in Tray: Shows and enables access to the Jabra Direct application from
the desktop tray.
• Synchronize Device Time: Sets device clock to the computers local time for devices that support
a clock.
• Presence Synchronization: Enable presence state to be set in running softphones and the
connected device.
• Preferred Softphone: Choose the preferred softphone to use with connected devices.

Step 2 - Download Jabra Direct
The next step is to go to the Download page and download the software packages. Here you select
which version you want, PC or Mac. The identification key in the application is automatically generated
and linked to the company you created when you first registered.
Step 3 - Deploy Jabra Direct
When the file is downloaded, you need to deploy the application. This is done like any other software
that you want to deploy in your environment. There are several ways to do this – here are just two:
• You can store the package at a server of your own choice and then send the link by email to all
your users and let them decide when, or if, to install the application.
• You can use your deployment system like SCCM and control the installation progress for all
your users.
• IMPORTANT – Read the readme.txt file in the zip package. IT stated that you MUST run the
install file and not the MSI package itself.
This is very important, since the system will not work without the software on the local client.
Package overview
The software packages you create are listed in the Packages page where you can get an overview of
each and also edit, delete or download them.

Packages provide you a way to have different groups with different settings, firmware, etc. If you want
a group of computers to have the same settings for Jabra Direct, you just deploy that same package to
those computers. Afterwards you will be able to have different configurations and still maintain them
all in the same system.

5. Overview of connected devices
When your package is deployed and installed, the applications will start to send data to the Jabra Xpress
backend (analytics endpoint, as stated in the Jabra Direct Settings item). For now, we send this every two
hours, but later this will be a configuration, so you can decide the frequency.
The results can now be seen in the Home section:
All the attached devices that have been attached for the last 30 days will be shown here.
A bit further down the page will be an overview of which firmware the different devices have reported:
In the above case, you can see that Jabra Engage 65 reports three different firmware versions and Jabra
Engage 75 Stereo reports five different firmware versions.

6. Manage devices
With the obtained information you can start to manage the devices – this is done in the Manage device
section:
This first part will provide you with an overview of new attached devices:
On the right side of the screen you can see an “Add a device” button. This is used for manually adding
devices you want to control.
When you click on this button you will see a complete list of all Jabra devices. You can select the devices
you want to add including the firmware version:
You simply add the devices you want to manage and then click on Add Devices.

Another way of adding devices to your Managed Devices is to add them from the list of New Devices
Found.
From here, you can select the device(s) you want to add and then click on the Add device button in the
lower right corner of the list.
To manage a device, simply click on the line of the device and a modal dialogue is displayed.

You can also remove a device from your list by hovering over the line and clicking on the trash can icon.
When you click the line in the list this modal appears:
On the left side you select the firmware that you want the device to have installed. In this case, version
1.9.13 is selected. This means that all devices with Jabra Direct running will get this firmware installed when
you click Save.
The right side of the screen shows the settings that are available for the selected device – in this case Audio
Bandwidth has been selected to Narrow band:

When you click Save, the settings will be stored in the Jabra cloud and all Jabra Direct applications with this
device attached will get the selected firmware and settings when the application pulls for new settings and
firmware.
When you apply a firmware and settings, it is not possible for the end-user to change this – you control this
now through Jabra Xpress. This means that if you only changed the Audio bandwidth to Narrowband, the
users can change anything except for the Audio bandwidth – that setting is locked.

7. Analytics
In the Analytics section, you can visualize data and generate reports which allow you to deep dive into the
data that is gathered from the connected devices.
Dashboards
For the new digital devices, we will be able to show a lot of the digital experiences. The Dashboard
section will be developed further.
Reports
In the Reports section, you can deep dive into the data that has been generated from the devices and
export it.
When you have selected an appropriate filter, you can download the data, and work with the data
Roles in Jabra Xpress.

We will implement the possibility to have two roles, one with writable permission rights for the IT
Admin role and one with read only permission rights for the Supervisor role. For now, we only have
one role – IT Admin.
