ASSEMBLY
GLASS CERAMIC HOBS WITH FRAME
1. Fitting the hob into a stainless steel worktop
Tools required:
- Electric scissors, or profile cutter, frame saw if
necessary, variable speed ripping saw, metal saw
if possible
-Protective tape
- Angle plate with measuring possibility
- Liquid refrigerant if necessary
- Mark the position of the opening, which must be
accurate to +/- 0.5 mm
- The frame of the hob must rest properly on the
worktop, therefore make sure the opening is
properly centred.
- Drill a ΓΈ 10-12 mm hole at each of the 4 inside
corners.
- If using an electric saw proves awkward, use a
hand saw.
- Saw very carefully so that you do not damage the
stainless steel surface; any damage to this surface
may prove irreparable. After you have prepared the
opening to accommodate the hob, make sure that
the corners, edges and surface are clean and smooth.
- Cover the sides of the opening with the protective
tape to avoid scratching the hob frame.
- Brush oil over cut sections.
- Insert the wooden shims supplied with the hob
under the steel edge, in order to obtain a 30 to
50 mm thick border frame.
- Under the stainless steel frame of the hob is a
rubber self adhesive seal; use mastic sealing if
necessary to level out any unevenness. Avoid
using silicone, which is difficult to remove later on
if you need to disassemble the hob.
- Insert the hob, centring it accurately so that it
covers the opening entirely.
- Screw and tighten the hob to the work surface from
underneath as instructed above and hereafter.
2. Fitting the hob into a stone or wooden
worktop
Make an opening in the worktop as per the dimensions,
in millimetres, indicated in the Product sheet.
The hob dimensions are indicated in the relative
figures.
- Insert the glass ceramic hob into the worktop
opening from above.
The fixing brackets (see Fig. 1) must be in the
right position.
- Place the hob in the centre and secure it with the
brackets.
Place the brackets in position and screw them to
the worktop with a screwdriver.
GLASS CERAMIC HOBS WITHOUT FRAME
1. Fitting the hob into a prepared support
surface
The support surface in the opening can be made
either by milling the edges in order to obtain a
support surface of 5 mm wide by 7 mm high or by
mounting 4 ledges to create a support frame for the
hob as shown on Fig. 2.
1.1. Preparing the work surface
Clean the opening to remove any dust or dirt.
- Brush on 1 or 2 coats of special primer and allow
to dry for about 30 minutes. This will protect the
support surface from humidity and will promote
adherence of the bonding material.
1.2. Fitting the hob in a worktop opening
prepared as per Fig. 3.
Fix the self-adhesive seal to the cleaned support
area. In the corners and if necessary in the centre of
the support section, fix 3-4 cm strips of mastic
sealing supplied approximately every 10 cm,
then apply a 3-4 mm approx. strip of silicone as per
Fig. 3.
Use soap to thoroughly clean the edges of the hob
to remove any oil, grease or other dirt.
Fit the glass ceramic hob in the opening, taking care
to centre it properly so as to have equal distances
all around.
Press down gently and evenly on the glass ceramic
hob, especially at the corners, so that the glass top
is level with the edge of the worktop.
Attention: do not use any tools on the glass
edge.

2. Sealing the glass ceramic hob
Seal the space around the glass using black silicone,
avoiding air bulbs. Gently remove any excess
silicone.
Spray a mild solution of water and liquid soap all
around the silicone beading.
Using a hard rubber or plastic spatula, spread the
silicone beading evenly, then remove the excess
silicone, cleaning and wetting the spatula now and
again with the soapy solution.
The glass surface and worktop must be level and
free of any silicone residue. If necessary, use a wet
finger to level out the silicone surface.
The mastic and silicone will take approximately 24
hours to set and reach full strength and elasticity.
During this period, the glass ceramic hob should not
be used, nor should it be subject to mechanical
stress.
Attention:
Before sealing special materials (stone,
etc.), make sure the material in question is
compatible with the primer and the mastic.
Attention: If the above recommendations are
not followed, after a certain period of time,
water and other liquids may penetrate the
worktop, causing swelling at the edges that
may result in damage to your glass ceramic
hob.
Note:
In the event the hob is fitted into a stone worktop,
request technical advice from your supplier or carry
out a test of the cleaning agents to be used, as well
as the primer and silicone.
Such tests should be carried on unseen areas or on
samples.
