SIMPLEX MMR
OPERATION AND CYLINDER CHANGE OVER
1. START UP OF MANIFOLD
When the unit is completely installed and all shut o valves are closed.
• Slowly open gas cylinder shut-o valves.
• Slowly open shut-o valves V1, V2 and V3.
• Open purge valve V5.
• Slowly open main-shut-o valve V4 to ventilate the unwanted “air” from the collecting unit and
high pressure hoses and close it back.
• Close purge valve V5. The purge valve V5 must be closed during operation.
• You should keep at least one of the cylinders closed to be used as reserve one. Close shut-o
valve V1, V2 and/or V3 for concerned cylinder(s) and concerned gas cylinder shut-o valve.
• Assign cylinder with indication panels (Fig. 4).
• To check if there is enough gas in the cylinders, use inlet gauge M1.
• Check gauge M2 if the outlet pressure is as required.
2. CYLINDER CHANGE OVER
When 3 gas cylinders are connected to the collecting unit C1 and the one which is in use indicates
low pressure, the following steps are to be taken:
• SLOWLY open full cylinder and its corresponding shut o valve on the collecting unit.
• Close empty cylinder and the corresponding shut-o valve.
• The gas cylinder indication panels must be now adjusted so that it is clearly apparent which
cylinder is in use.
• Exchange the empty cylinder(s) for a full one.
• Close shut-o valves (V1 and/or V2 and/or V3 and/or corresponding to full gas cylinders or cylinders
you do not wish to exchange. The gas flow supply has now been stopped.
• Open shut-o valve V4.
• Close cylinder shut o valve of the empty cylinder(s) that you wish to exchange.
• Open purge valve V5 to evacuate remaining gas from the collecting unit and high pressure hoses.
Close the purge valve V5 when all gas is evacuated.
• Close the opened shut-o valves (V1 and/or V2 and/or V3 and V4).
• Exchange empty cylinder(s) with full one.
• Ventilate the unwanted gas as described in chapter 7.1 from the changed cylinders.
• Then continue using the gas supply from the previously used cylinders. The indication panels
must always match the cylinder(s) in use to prevent unexpected running out of gas.
When 3 gas cylinder are connected to the collecting unit C1 and all 3 are empty, the following
steps are to be taken:
• Open main shut o valve V4 .
• Close cylinder shut o valves.
• Open purge valve V5 to evacuate remaining gas from the collecting unit and high pressure hoses.
Close the purge valve V5 when all gas is evacuated.
• Close the shut o valves V1, V2, V3 and V4.
• Exchange empty cylinders for full ones.
• Now follow steps from chapter 7.1 - start up the manifold.
3. SHUT DOWN
The manifold can be only shut down with agreement of a responsible person according to standard
EN ISO 7396-1.
For short term (hours) shutdown close shut-o valve V4.
For long term (days) shutdown close all opened shut-o valves on the unit (V1 - V4)and the cylinder
shut-o valves
