Chapter 1 Product Overview
1.1 Introduction
H3C AR 18-3XE Series Routers and AR 18-21X Series Routers
are ADSL2+ routers that H3C Technology developed for small office
home office (SOHO) subscribers.
H3C AR 18-3XE/18-21X Series Routers include AR 18-30E, AR
18-31E, AR 18-32E , AR 18-35E, AR 18-21A and AR 18-21B.
The AR 18-3XE series provides an ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+
interface in the uplink direction to connect to the central office device
through a subscriber line, thus providing broadband access to the
Internet. In this series, the AR 18-31E and the AR 18-35E provide
ISDN backup. When the ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ link fails, the ISDN
interface can take over to ensure ongoing communications. In the
downlink direction, the AR 18-3XE series provides four
10/100BASE-TX layer 2 (L2) Ethernet ports which can be isolated via
VLAN configuration.
The AR 18-21X series provides one Ethernet interface in uplink
direction and uses an ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ interface for backup. In
the downlink direction, the series provides four L2 10/100BASE-TX
switched Ethernet ports which can be isolated via VLAN configuration.
The interfaces provided by the AR 18-3XE/18-21X series are
compliant with international standards and can work with the products
of other vendors at all layers of the network. This helps to protect your
existing investment to the maximum.
