Description
General Description
The IPX/SPX setup utility software searches a NetWare network for Printing devices, and displays these in a list
from which you can perform operations, such as specifying the network setup, and creating print queues.
NetWare Server
The software can invoke NetWare
utility functions, such as Create
NetWare Queue, and Delete
Network Object.
The software searches a NetWare network for
printing devices, and displays them in a list. The
network settings for each device can be set for the
displayed devices.

IPX/SPX setup utility Main Window
When you start the IPX/SPX setup utility, the software searches the network for printers, and displays the results
in a list within the main window.
Various operations can be performed from the main window by using the menu, the toolbar, and right-clicking on
the desired function. To specify network settings, or create NetWare queues, select the printer from the list rst.
Note:
The search feature uses both the JCP over UDP, and JCP over IPX protocols.

Menu
The following operations can be performed by selecting the desired command from the relevant main window
menu.
Menu Menu Item Description
Device Search Searches the network for printers, and refreshes the screen
display with the latest results.
Exit Exits the IPX/SPX setup utility.
Setup Network Setup... Opens the Network Printer Setup window, and allows
conguration of the network settings.
Create NetWare Queue Opens the Create NetWare Print Queue window, and creates
a NetWare queue. This command is only available if a NetWare
Client Software has been installed on your PC.
Delete NetWare Object Deletes NetWare objects. This command is only available if a
NetWare Client Software has been installed on your PC.
Option Select the protocol for search... Species the network environment to be used for searching in
the IPX/SPX setup utility.
Help About... Shows the IPX/SPX setup utility version information.

Toolbar
A toolbar containing ve commonly used operations appears below the menu bar in the main window. You can
execute a command simply by clicking on the corresponding icon.

Note:
The
Create NetWare Queue
, and
Network Setup...
icons in the toolbar are only available when a printer is selected from
the list provided NetWare Client software is installed on your PC.

Right-Click Menu
If you right-click the mouse on a printer in the list, a popup menu appears with three commands from the Setup
menu. Select a relevant command from the menu to perform the desired operation.

Basic Operation
Use the following procedure to start the IPX/SPX setup utility, and perform various available operations.
Click the Start menu, and select Panasonic Panasonic Document Management System
IPX-SPX setup utility.
The IPX/SPX setup utility main window appears. The main window displays a list of printers found by the
search.
Select a desired printer from the list, and then choose the operation you want to perform from the menu,
toolbar, or by right-clicking on the menu.

For the details of each menu command, see pages 14 to 29.

The Device menu is used to search the network for printers, and to exit from the IPX/SPX setup utility.
Search
From the Device menu, select Search to explore the network for all network connected printers, and display
the results on the screen.
Exit
From the Device menu, select Exit to exit from the IPX/SPX setup utility.

Network Setup
The Setup menu is used to specify network settings, create a NetWare queue, or delete NetWare objects for the
selected printer.
The Network Setup is used to congure the settings for the selected printer.
When you are nished, click the
Setup
button.
A dialog box opens asking you to conrm the
settings.
Check that the settings are correct, and then
click the
OK
button.
The following completion message appears
after the new settings are sent to the printer.
Click the
Yes
button.
The printer restarts, and the new settings are
applied.
Select a printer, then open the Setup menu,
and then select Network Setup....The Network
Printer Setup window opens.
Note:
If a password was setup for the printer, the password
entry window opens. Enter the correct password
(default: 0000). If you select the
Guest user (read
only)
check box, you can leave the password eld
blank, and still open the printer setup window. In this
case, however, you can only view the settings, but
cannot modify them.
Use the General tab, TCP/IP tab, and NetWare
tab to switch between various settings.

General Tab - Change root password
You can use the General tab to change the password for the root user.
To change the password, click the
Change root password...
button.
The following Password Setup dialog box opens.
Enter the Old password, New Password, and Conrm new password elds in the Password Setup dialog
box, and then click the
OK
button.

TCP/IP Tab
Click the TCP/IP tab to display the TCP/IP conguration page. This page is used to setup the IP address, subnet
mask, and default gateway TCP/IP settings.
1. Use DHCP
Select this check box to use DHCP.
2. IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway
If you are not using DHCP (Use DHCP check box is not checked), then specify the IP address, subnet
mask, and default gateway.

Click the NetWare tab to display the NetWare conguration page. This page is used to setup the NetWare
protocol, Operation mode, and other NetWare settings.
1. Use NetWare Protocol
Select this check box to use the NetWare protocol.
2. Frame Type
Select one of the following frame types.

3. Printer Name
Enter the printer name.

The Operation Mode eld species the NetWare operation mode. Select either the PSERVER Mode (=Print
server), or RPRINTER Mode (=Remote printer) option button. If you select PSERVER Mode, also enter the
Print Server Name.
If you are using as a bindery print server, select the Bindery Mode check box.
Select the Operation Mode, and then click various
Setup...
buttons to open the associated properties
dialog boxes. You can specify properties for the Print server, Bindery print server, NDS print server, and
Remote printer.
