Requests to Installers
This manual is for the vent components for the designated tankless water heater. For the installation of the
tankless water heater itself, read the installation manual that comes with the tankless water heater.
In order to install this vent kit correctly, read this installation manual carefully, and follow the installation
instructions.
Failures and damage caused by erroneous work or work not as instructed in this manual are not covered by
the warranty.
Check that the installation was done properly in accordance with this installation manual upon completion.
After completing installation, place this installation manual in a plastic pouch and attach it to the side of the
water heater, or hand it to the customer to retain for future reference.
CAUTION
1. General Information
2
Property damage, personal injury or death can result if these instructions are not followed. They are a guide for
professional installers generally familiar with the installation and maintenance of heating equipment and related
vent systems.
Do not install in areas with minimum temperatures below 32°F (0°C) as condensation will form inside the
B-Vent causing corrosion.
Do not use for anything other than designated tankless water heater (including models manufactured by
others).
Appliances can be started up immediately after NRK-1 is installed and inspected.

3. General Safety
4
If similar vent has already been installed, it must be replaced with this designated new one.
NRK-1 is designed only for installation inside of the B-Vent wall. Do not use it for other installation method.
Make sure the B-Vent rain cap is attached before installation. Do not use this kit if the B-Vent rain cap or
B-Vent itself is corroded and damaged.
Before installation, make sure no nails or screws have penetrated through the inner B-Vent wall where
the polypropylene pipe will be installed. Those obstructions may damage the polypropylene pipe and may
result in fires, property damage or exposure to Carbon Monoxide.
Make sure components are kept under these following conditions.
* Clean and dry place.
* Keep out of direct sunlight.
Handle the polypropylene pipe carefully.
Dropping, Crushing and Stacking may cause damage, and may result in fires, property damage or
exposure to Carbon Monoxide.
NRK-1 cannot be painted.
Avoid places where open flame are common, such as those where gasoline, benzene and adhesives are
handled, or places in which corrosive gases (ammonia, chlorine, sulfur, ethylene compounds, acids) are
present.
Avoid installation in places where dust or debris will accumulate.
Dust may block the air-supply opening, causing the performance of the device fan to drop and incomplete
combustion may occur as a result.
Avoid installation in places where special chemical agents (e.g. hair spray or spray detergent) are used.
Only approved for use with the designated B-Vent manufactures.
If the B-Vent rain cap falls off from the roof due to the installation work, access to the roof for replacement
of the rain cap may be required.
Any work done incorrectly or not described in this manual can leave parts in the B-Vent and be difficult to
remove. In this case, access to the roof may be required.
WARNING
Check for any damage to components that may have occurred during transportation before installation.
Consult with the customer regarding the location of installation.
Do not install this vent kit in a place where it may be subject to falling objects.
CAUTION
4. Before Installation (Check the condition of installation site)
5
Before installing the NRK-1 vent kit, verify that the installation location is suitable. All checkpoints (1-8) must be
verified to be in the “Suitable” column. If any item is found to be in the “Not Suitable” column, STOP and the Flex

If the B-Vent rain cap falls off from the roof due to the installation work, access to the roof for replacement of the
rain cap may be required.
Any work done incorrectly or not described in this manual can leave parts in the B-Vent and be difficult to remove.
In this case, access to the roof to remove or replace parts may be required. Take extra care and precaution to
perform the installation as safely as possible.

For your safety, do not attempt to work on a rooftop until safety precautions have been identified and taken
including fall prevention measures, ladders or stairways, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Installation in windy or wet conditions require additional precautions. Follow local safety regulations.
WARNING
Except for PVC items, use only the parts provided in the package.
Using parts other than the ones provided may cause the product to be assembled incorrectly.
WARNING
[Maximum vent lengths]
The maximum vent length is 17 ft (5.2 m). The maximum vent length of the B-Vent is 8.5 ft (2.6 m).
The maximum allowed number of elbows is 2 using 45 degree elbows or 90 degree elbows.
Before proceeding with the installation, refer to section “4. Before Installation (Check the condition of
installation site)”.
9
1Remove the B-Vent between bottom of ceiling and tank type water heater.
Do not leave the B-Vent elbow. Only straight piping from the B-Vent rain cap to the
bottom of the ceiling.
Make sure the bottom edge of the B-Vent is below the ceiling.
• Make sure no screws or nails are protruding into the B-Vent.
• Make sure there are no holes on the inside of the B-Vent.
2Drain and remove the tank type water heater.
3Measure the original B-Vent diameter and length from the bottom of the B-Vent to the
rain cap.
Record this measurement. This distance is used to determine the total length of
polypropylene pipe.

4: This section details how to measure then cut the polypropylene pipes to the required length needed
for the measured B-Vent.
4-1 Check the table (on pages 12-13) for selecting proper polypropylene pipe length
in accordance with the B-Vent length.
Example of B-Vent length: 66 1/4″
NOTE:
If B-Vent measurement is 66.49″ (or less), use 66″ on the chart. If B-Vent measurement
is 66.5″ (or more), use 67″ on the chart.
4-2 Confirm the required number of polypropylene pipes and their length.
Example of B-Vent length: 66 1/4″
NOTE:
Refer to the table (on pages 12-13) before cutting the polypropylene pipe,
to prevent the female end from interfering with the base junction support and
the base junction adapter attached to the bottom end of the B-Vent. The flared
female end of the polypropylene pipe does not fit through the base junction
support or adapter.
The lengths in the table also include an additional 8” length that may be used to
easily attach any additional needed parts below the B-Vent.
