SD3-60 AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANUAL
AMM38-31-00 1.0.0.0WASTE DISPOSAL - DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
1. Description
A Thetford Electra Magic water closet unit is fitted to the aircraft.
This is a self contained unit with an electric re-circulation pump and a solid-state flush cycle timer.
A dual filtration system is incorporated to prevent the re-circulation of solids.
A narrow vertical window on the front of the unit indicates the level of the tank contents. The
initial charge level is marked 'C' and the full level is marked 'F' to indicate when the unit should be
emptied.
A raised housing at the rear of the unit contains the electric motor and the flush cycle timer which
is activated by a PRESS-TO-FLUSH button on the housing.
An external servicing connection is located at Stn. 493, fuselage aft underside.
2. Operation
On Tail Distribution Panel 3D, circuit breaker No. 129 is to be closed before the toilet can be
operated. Operating the PRESS-TO-FLUSH button activates the flush cycle timer which switches
on the pump motor. The flushing duration is 7 seconds. The water closet unit must be emptied
when or before the fluid level reaches the full (F) mark on the indicator window.
