Dionex Reagent-Free Controller
Getting Started Guide
This guide provides:
•An overview of the Thermo Scientific
Dionex™ Reagent-Free Controller™
(Dionex RFC).
•Installation instructions.
•Basic operating instructions.
Two models of Dionex RFC are described:
•The Dionex RFC-10, which provides
control for a Thermo Scientific Dionex
AES™ Atlas Electrolytic Suppressor or a
Thermo Scientific Dionex SRS™ Self-
Regenerating Suppressor.
•The Dionex RFC-30, which provides
control for a Dionex AES or Dionex SRS,
a Thermo Scientific Dionex EluGen eluent
generator cartridge (EGC), and a Thermo
Scientific Dionex CR-TC Continuously
Regenerated Trap Column.
NOTE In this guide, the symbol indi-
cates information that pertains to
the RFC-30 only.
This guide provides instructions for installing
the Dionex RFC-10 and Dionex RFC-30 with
the following Thermo Scientific Dionex prod-
ucts:
•Dionex DX-320/320J Ion
Chromatography System
•Dionex DX-500 or Dionex DX-600 Ion
Chromatography System
•Dionex DX-120 Ion Chromatograph
If you need more information:
Refer to the Dionex Reagent-Free Controller
Operator’s Manual (Document No. 031880),
which provides detailed operating instructions,
troubleshooting information, service proce-
dures, and specifications. The manual is on the
Thermo Scientific Reference Library DVD
(P/N 053891), which is provided in the Dionex
RFC Ship Kit (Dionex RFC-10, P/N 060310;
Dionex RFC-30, P/N 060299).
Before you begin the installation:
•Unpack the Dionex RFC immediately
after you receive it. If you are installing a
Dionex RFC-30, also unpack the eluent
generator components.
•Inspect all items for any signs of shipping
damage. If there is damage, notify the
carrier and Thermo Fisher Scientific
immediately.
•Locate the Reference Library DVD in the
Ship Kit. In addition to operating manuals
for Thermo Scientific Dionex instruments,
the Reference Library contains manuals
for Thermo Scientific Dionex consumable
products, including the various suppres-
sors, EGCs, CR-TCs, and columns used
with the Dionex RFC. You may need to
refer to these manuals during installation
and setup of the Dionex RFC.
•Install the Dionex RFC near the
chromatography compartment. Allow at
least 15 cm (6 in) behind the Dionex RFC
for ventilation. Ambient temperature
should not exceed 40 °C (104 °F).
