14. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating the tool. Do not use
the machine when you are tired, sick or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, medication or
similar that could affect your ability to use the machine safely.
15. Check the machine for damages. If you notice any damages in the machine, in its guards or oth-
er parts, do not use it until it has been repaired in an authorized service center. Check for align-
ment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting and any other con-
ditions that may affect the machine operation. Damaged parts should be properly repaired or re-
placed by an authorized service center.
16. Adopt protective measures against electric shock. Avoid bodily contact with earthed surfaces
such as pipes, radiators, cooking ranges, refrigerators etc.
17. Use only original spare parts and accessories. The use of any other spare parts or accessories
than original parts may cause a risk of injury.
18. Reduce the risk of unintentional starting. Disconnect the machine always when not in use, be-
fore adjusting or servicing and when changing accessories such as blades etc. Make sure switch
is in off-position before plugging it in.
19. Never leave the machine running unattended. Turn power off and do not leave the machine until
it comes to a complete stop.
SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. Read the instruction manual carefully before using the machine.
2. Children or disabled people are not allowed to use the machine.
3. Always wear safety goggles and a dust mask.
4. The scroll saw must be securely bolted to a stand or a workbench. If the stand or workbench has
a tendency to move during operation, bolt it securely to the floor. A solid wood workbench is
stronger and more stable than a workbench with a plywood table.
5. The use of a pad between the saw and the workbench is recommended to reduce noise and vi-
bration.
6. This machine is for indoor use only. Do not expose to rain or use in damp locations.
7. Never use the machine to work on pieces that are too small to be held by hand.
8. Never turn the machine on before clearing the table of all objects such as tools, scrap etc.
9. Make sure the blade teeth are pointing down toward the table and that the blade tension is cor-
rect.
10. When sawing large workpieces, provide additional support at the table height.
11. Do not feed the material too fast. Feed only as fast as the blade will cut.
12. Keep fingers away from the blade. Use a push stick as you approach the end of the cut.
13. Be careful when cutting irregularly shaped workpieces. For example moulding must lie flat on
the table and may not rock as it is being cut.
14. When moving the workpiece from the blade, the blade may bind in the cut kerf. If so, turn the
machine off, unplug it, wedge open the kerf and move the workpiece away from the blade.
15. Always turn off the machine and unplug it before installing or removing any accessory or
changing the blade.

BEVEL ALIGNMENT
- To align the bevel indicator, loosen the table bevel lock knob and level the table until it is at a
right angle to the blade. (Figure 1)
- Use a small square to be sure that the angle between the blade and the table is 90°. When the
table is perpendicular to the blade, tighten the bevel lock knob. (Figure 2)
- Loosen the screw holding the bevel indicator, adjust the pointer to 0° and then tighten the screw.
(Figure 3)
- The bevel scale is a convenient angle pointer but it is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. Al-
ways double-check with a protractor before starting the cut.
- The blade guard is attached to the upper arm with a hex bolt, a flat washer and a lock nut.
THE BLADE
Installing and removing the blade (Fig. 4-6)
- Before installing or removing the blade, turn off the machine and unplug it.
- Loosen the blade tension by turning the tension knob two full turns counterclockwise. (Figure
4)
- Remove the bottom of the blade from the lower blade holder by pulling it to you, then lift it
through the access hole in the table. It may be helpful to apply a slight downward pressure on
the upper arm to free the blade. Now slide the blade from the upper blade holder. (Figure 5)
- While the blade is out of the holders, look at the blade holders closely. You will see that the
blade slots and pin recesses (Figure 6) are made so you can position the blade to cut from the
front or from the side. Cutting from the side is necessary when your workpiece is over 406 mm
long. The side cuts can be made only when the bevel is set at 0°.
- Install a new blade by repeating the blade removing instructions in reverse order.
- With the blade back in the blade holders, you can restore proper tension on the blade. Turn the
tension knob clockwise until you feel the slack in the blade has been removed. Double check to
make sure that the blade pins are properly seated from the top and bottom.
Principal reasons for blade breakages
1. Too much or too little tension on the blade.
2. Overstressing the blade by feeding the workpiece too fast.
3. Twisting or bending the blade by feeding the workpiece off-center.
4. Over use - the blade has reached the end of its useful life.
5. Feeding too much material into the saw, more than the 50 mm depth for which it was designed.
Choosing the correct blade
This scroll saw accepts a wide variety of blade widths and thicknesses. The blade width, the blade
thickness and the number of teeth per inch (TPI) are determined by the type of material and size of
the radius being cut. Here are few examples:

As a general rule, select the narrowest blades recommended for intricate curve cutting and the wid-
est blades for straight and large curve operations.

OPERATION
Scroll saw’s unique ability is to cut intricate curves that other saws cannot do. A scroll saw can also
be used for straight line cutting such as cross cuts, ripping and bevels.
- The saw does not cut wood by itself. You feed the workpiece into the blade, letting the blade cut
the wood as you move the piece ahead.
- The teeth of the blade cut ONLY on the down stroke.
- You must feed the wood into the blade slowly because the teeth are very small and cut only on
the down stroke. If you push the wood into the blade too rapidly, the blade will break.
- Although the capacity of the saw accepts wood up to 50 mm thick, you will get better results
with wood no more than 25 mm thick. For wood thicker than 25 mm, you must guide the wood
into the blade extremely slowly, taking care not to bend or twist the blade.
- The teeth on the blade will wear out sooner or later. They must be replaced often to obtain the
best cutting results. The blade will stay sharp from 1/2 hour to 2 hours, depending on the ma-
terial you are cutting.
- Be aware that the blade has a tendency to follow the grain of the wood as the line of least resis-
tance. You can compensate this by watching the grain carefully and guiding the wood past the
grains.
- If this is your first scroll saw, have a learning period on how to use the saw and how the wood
and saw work together. You can expect some blade breakages; the blade is not of same type as
on a handsaw or on a circular saw.
- One capability a scroll saw has that other saws do not have is cutting intricate patterns inside the
workpiece. This is done as follows:
1. Turn off the machine and unplug it.
2. Drill a 6,4 mm hole in the middle of the workpiece to a part which will not be a part of the
finished product.
3. Release the tension knob by turning it two turns counterclockwise and remove the blade
from the bottom and top.
4. Put the workpiece on the table with the 6,4 mm hole over the access hole in the table.
5. Replace the blade, through the workpiece and into the table, then into the upper blade hold-
er. Retighten the tension knob.
6. Plug the saw back in. Make sure the workpiece is not touching the blade before turning on
the switch. (Figure 7)
7. When you have finished doing the work inside the workpiece, turn off the saw, unplug it,
remove the blade, remove the workpiece, reinstall the blade and plug the saw back in.
MOUNTING THE SCROLL SAW TO A WORKBENCH
1. When mounting the scroll saw to a workbench, a solid wood bench is preferable to a plywood
bench where noise and vibration will be more noticeable (mounting hardware is not included to
the delivery).
2. The use of a pad between the saw and the workbench is recommended to reduce noise and vi-
bration (the pad is not included to the delivery).
3. In Figure 8 is illustrated an example of mounting the scroll saw to a workbench.
4. Do not overtighten the mounting bolts - leave some cushion in the pad for absorbing noise and
vibration.
5. Always remove the front right hex bolt, it will be necessary to insert hex bolt from bottom side
of workbench and secure with hex nut from top side of the scroll saw base.

MAINTENANCE
Disconnect the machine from power source before performing any maintenance operations.
- Keep the machine clean from dust and other debris.
- Apply a thin coat of paste wax on the table from time to time. This will help the wood to glide
across the table more smoothly.
- After every 50 hours of use, lubricate the rocker arm bushing with SAE 20 oil.
- The motor is permanently lubricated. Do not try to oil the motor bearings or service any internal
parts of the motor.
- If the power cord is worn, frayed, cut or damaged, have it replaced by an authorized service
center. Do not try to repair it yourself.
