This interface can converter touch panel signals into DVD /TV IR signals, or iPod control signal, so when people watch
DVD inside a car, he does not need a remote controller any more. This interface can also be programmed to a new Remote
controller in the installation process. The various versatile video conversion inside makes this interface suitable for
almost every car which has a video or RGB input.
The main features are:
1. People can enjoy DVD or video source without remote controller while dirct touching the icons on top of the
screen.Dedicated icons are mixed inside the video stream for easy
read and touch operations.
2. Several video source can added onto a single screen without
added extra keypad to select them.
3. This interface has a programing function which allows a new
remote controller to be recorded.
4. This is a an upgrade version from Navlinkz FV-02 and FV-09
video converter which haven been sold for several years, it is very
versatile and easy for installers in video conversion purposes while
installed in almost whatever car which has a video or RGB input connector, and it can handle almost all video
input[NTSC,PAL,SECAM, in CVBS or RGB], while offer a very stable standard video output.
5. Multi-point touch screen calibration algorithm inside makes this interface can be installed with almost every
screen, no matter original touch screen or added.

The CVBS can be connected to the video input of a monitor directly.
This 8-pin connector is used to connect the touch daughter board, it is not necessary for the installers to use it
usually, but it maight be helpful to the installers.

5. key buttons
The input box has 3 side keys, the installer may use it to tune the picture display, and touch function for the
connected DVD or other devices. The 3 keys are : menu, +, -.
When menu key pressed 1st time: the left OSD options will be shown,
when pressed 2nd time: the right OSD options will be shown,
when pressed 3rd time, the osd window will disappear.
The user may use the +/- key to go to the edit mode of each item, and use menu-key again to go down to
the next item.
The DVD, TUNER,NAVI items mean the IR output of RGB,AV1,AV2 input respectively, there are already
many types of DVD, TV tuner and NAVI brands programmed inside.
The installer may also set it to be PROG if the video source brand is not listed inside. Then he may pull the
DIP6 DIP down to program the IR code.
The installer may also set it to be NONE if he does not want the icons to pop out when people control it.
In this case, the user may still touch the left-top corner[power icon] to tuner off the device, and he may
also use the left-button corner, [SRC icon ] to switch the input.
The H POS, V POS items mean the image location on monitor, different video players like DVDs may send out
video with different amplitude, different image location although it is PAL or NTSC. These 2 options will give
the installer the convenience of adjusting image perfectly centered in a couple of seconds.
The Amplitudeis used to set the video output amplitude, a normal monitor needs 0.7V~1V for normal
display on 75 ohm impedance monitor, but some needs higher[ for example BMW and Nissan which has sync
on Green need 1.2Vpp for brilliant video display otherwise picture looks like washed]. Higher video
amplitude is also better for noise immunity and more vivid display , but too much high amplitude(>80) is not
suggested. The default Amplitude =50, video output=1VppwhenAmplitude =80video output=1.5Vpp
when Amplitude =10, video output=0.5Vpp. [ when monitors input impedance=75 ohm.].
The CAR VIDEO option is can be set to be YES or NO,
when set to YES, the CAR RGB or video input is shown when the user is switching the input.
It is switching like this[when DIP78 set the output to be RGBS]:
car RGB converted RGB from AV1 converted RGB from AV2 car RGB
Or [when DIP78 set the output to be CVBS]: car CVBSconverted CVBS from AV1 converted CVBS
from AV2 car CVBS
[note: when the Car RGB wires are used for CVBS, just connect the CVBS to the red wire, and leave G, B,
and Sync alone.]
when set to NO, the CAR RGB is never shown.
This is for monitors which has already a RGB or CVBS input.
They need such an interface for touch control onto DVD or Tuner.
A. IR learn operations
The input box has separate memory space to remember the IR code of every input[RGB
input,AV1(DVD),AV2(Tuner or iPod)].
1) When the current input channels IR output is set to PROG, the input box goes into IR learn mode
when the DIP6 is pulled down to ON state.
2) Then one icon will be blinking, saying that one IR key press is
needed, the installer need to point the remote controller
toward the whole on RGB input.
3) When one code is learned, another icon will be blinking, saying
that another IR code is needed. The installer then repeating
step 2), until all codes are programmed. Then the icons
disappear automatically and the installer may start normal
operation.
the touch screen will not acknowledge touch screen operations when it is in programming mode, except the
SRC key, which will terminate the learning progress.
B. IR code out for video source devices
The input box can output the IR code in a 4-byte protocol which most of AV devices use today, the output can be
2 ways:
(1) wire connect way without carrier frequency, or
(2) wireless way with carrier frequency.
The difference is: the wireless way says the signal 1 with 38K frequency
pulses while the wire way says by just voltage.
The input box has 2 IR output pins: IR-RGB(the 6
th
pin of RGB input), and
IR_DVD(the 7
th
pin of RGB input).
The IR_RGB is always in wire-connect way without carrier, while the IR-DVD pin is in a wireless way
The IR_RGB and IR_DVD send the IR code out no matter the monitor is showing video in RGB,AV1,and AV2.
The video source may receive all these IR codes, but they will choose to acknowledge because the data bytes
values are different.[the 4 data bytes say the device by the first 2, and 3
rd
byte says the key value, the last one is
the verification]
C.Touch panel calibration
When the DIP6 is pulled down to ON 5 times repeatedly, the monitor goes
into touch screen calibration mode, a cross will be shown on screen, and the
installer need to use something like a pencil to hit the cross, the cross will be
changed to another location after one point is recorded.
This multi-point calibration should be done by the installer at least once, since
all touch panels have different physical resistance and capacitance. The calibration
guarantees the end-user have nice touch feelings.

b) 1PC of touch toughter PCB.
c) 1PC of 2X8 RGB wire, 1PC of video output wire.

Flexible touch panel
this touch panel offers no thickness, which is ideal
for cars which has original LCD screen, because
they do not offer extra space for touch screen.
Video noise filter:
Sometimes noise may be generated if the video devices
are too much far away separated or engine noise
influences, this noise filter can remove many kinds of
video noises easily.

Application Examples:
1. Add touch control functions to DVD,TV and get free from remote controllers.
Enable AV1 by DIP, if necessay, enable AV2 and navi RGB also to get some extra inputs.
When power on, the unit will automatically go to the first DIP-enabled input.(AV1 here)
The user may switch the input by touch the SRC icon on screen.
The CAR VIDEO option should be set to NO
When DIP7 and 8 are both OFF, the output is NTSC-composite[no matter the input is PAL,NTSC or SECAM or RGB],
the big internal memory tank and high quality scaler guarantees there is no picture quanlity decrease.
When DIP7 is OFF and DIP8 is ON, the output is PAL composite. [no matter the input is PAL,NTSC or SECAM or
RGB].
2. Convert RGB high definition videos into compositeCVBSvideo for monitors.
Enable RGB by DIP, if necessay, enable AV1 also to get one extra input.
When power on, the unit will automatically go to the first DIP-enabled input.[navi-RGB
here]
When DIP7 and 8 are both OFF, the output is NTSC-composite[no matter the input is
PAL,NTSC or SECAM or RGB], the big internal memory tank and high quality scaler guarantees there is no picture
quanlity decrease. When DIP7 is OFF and DIP8 is ON, the output is PAL composite.
When DIP4 is set to ON,the input is RGB-VGA from computer, that is 800X600·60Hz, when the DIP4 is set to
Video in video out
IR out
RGBin CVBS out
IR Out
OFF, the input is RGB-NTSC for navi computer, which is vertically 240 lines(or 234 lines),horizontally 320,400,or
480 pixels.
3. Add extra video inputs to monitors which already has RGB input. For example: Volkswagen MFD2,Mercedes
W211/W220, Toyota, Ford(before year 2010). This monitors already has RGB input.( atten: W211W220 needs
Hsync,Vsync split signals]
DIP for AV1AV2 are enabled by DIP, according to the video devices that are installed.
DIP 7 and 8 should be set to (on,off) output =RGB-NTSC component video.
The CAR VIDEO option should be set to YES so when switching, the input are
shown:car RGBAV1AV2 car RGB if set to NO, the car video will not be
shown.
When DIP 7 and 8 are set to (on,off), the screen always starts at showing car RGB when start working.
4. Add extra video inputs to monitors which needs RGB input, but need sync on Green[that is SOG]. For example, BMW x5
before 2008, nissan 2010 and older versions, Renault, and American Pathfinder.
DIP for AV1AV2 are enabled by DIP, according to the video devices that are installed.
DIP 7 and 8 should be set to (on,off) output =RGB-NTSC component video. when switching,
the input are shown:car RGBAV1AV2 car RGB
The Green signal output wire should be re-wired to the 2-pin Jack near the RGB-wires, that one always has sync on
green.
the screen always starts at showing car RGB when start working.

5. Add DVD,TV tuner or other video devices with touch control function for Mercedes W212, Citroen-C5,
Audi-MMI,Buick/Opel, and many other cars which has already a monitor.
NAVLINKZ has video interfaces for these car, they have internal touch icon generations already, in this case, the
installers just put one extra touch film on top of the screen, and they can use the interface to control DVD or other
video sources.
Almost all Navlinkzs interface use CAN bus decoding and GMLAN decoding, so the the users do not need to
stick any extra key to switch, people use original keys to switch, and they may also use origianl keys to pop out the
DVD touch icons.
The installers can also use the touch interface between the video source and interface, using the touch
interfaces video-in-video-out function and get the touch function for extra video device.
