2.3 ETHERNET MAC ADDRESS
PROGRAMMING
2.3.1 BCM4401 Ethernet:
Program the eeprom in engineering
mode
(1) Boot from DOS (Win 98 preferred) and
type b44diag –b44eng
(2) 0:>sromutil –m 001018000001 14e4
8401. MAC address 001018000001,
SVID:14e4 and SID:8401 will be
programmed into eeprom. You can change
to other values if nevessary.
(3) 0:>sromutil –b 0. Disable PXE function
on NIC if PXE binary image is being
integrated into BIOS.
(4) 0:>sromutil –d –feeprom.bin, you will get
your golden eeprom.bin file
(5) Exit to DOS
(6) Re-boot the system
(7) Under engineering mode, customers can
see a list of all commands by typing “help”
after 0:>. In addition, for all parameters,
please type 0:>command ? (for example
0:>secfg ?, and you should get a list of all
parameters associated with that specific
command),
2.3.2 BCM5788 Ethernet:
Program the eeprom in engineering
mode
(1) Boot from DOS (Win 98 preferred) and
type b57diag -b57eng
(2) Please make sure HIMEN.SYS and
COMMAND.COM are also included on the
floppy.
(3) 0:>seprg –fee5788c3.26
(4) 0:>secfg and change the settings (for
example 1=00:10:18:12:34:56 to change
MAC address. 24=1 to enable ASF).
Remember to save the settings and write
back to EEPROM. Please see page 4 for
the complete list of EEPROM setting.
(5) For LOM applications, please modify
item 30 under settings to 1 (from NIC to
LOM)
(6) 0:>sedump -f=eeprom.bin -l=xxxx (file
size of eeprom.bin), you will get the golden
eeprom.bin file
(7) Exit to DOS
