GENERAL INFORMATION
FBK-300
BLOWER KIT
This blower kit may be used with gas fireplaces. The FBK-300 blower
kit is used when unit-mounted variable speed blower control is desired.
The blower is installed beneath the firebox. Room air is drawn in through
the bottom area of the fireplace, heated as it passes across the firebox,
and discharged through the upper air exhaust area at the top of the
fireplace. This kit contains one blower, one speed control module, one
speed control module base, one screw and these instructions.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR BLOWER KIT FBK-300 (CATALOG NO. H7841)
FOR USE WITH SLDVT AND MLDVT LOUVERLESS GAS FIREPLACES
Step 1. Turn off the fireplace and allow it to cool before proceeding.
Step 2. If the appliance is connected to 120 volt power, disconnect
the power.
Step 3. Shut off the gas supply to the fireplace.
Step 4. Open and remove the lower compartment door.
Step 5.
• SLDVT 30”, 35”, 40” and 45” models:
Remove log set and loose media. Remove the sub-floor. Remove the
burner, loosen and remove the screws securing the GTA (Gas Train As-
sembly) to the firebox bottom. Lift the GTA up and away as far as the flex
line will allow. If required, disconnect flex line and completely remove
the GTA. Install the blower against the firebox rear wall and secure by
bending tabs up (see Figure 1 ).
MLDVT 30”, 35”, 40” and 45” models:
Remove log set, grate and loose media. Remove the sub-floor. Remove
the burner, loosen and remove the screws securing the GTA (Gas Train
Assembly) to the firebox bottom. Lift the GTA up and away as far as the
flex line will allow. If required, disconnect flex line and completely remove
the GTA. Install the blower against the firebox rear wall and secure by
bending tabs up (see Figure 1 ).
MLDVTCD 35” model:
Remove any installed floor media and porcelain panels of liners, if appli-
cable. Remove the sub-floor. Remove the burner, loosen and remove the
screws securing the GTA (Gas Train Assembly) to the firebox bottom. Lift
the GTA up and away as far as the flex line will allow. If required, discon-
nect flex line and completely remove the GTA. Install the blower against
the firebox rear wall and secure by bending tabs up (see Figure 1 ).

Step 6. If electrical power has not been provided to the unit’s junction
box receptacle - Route a 3-wire, 120Vac power line to the unit’s junction
box. Remove the receptacle by removing the two securing screws. Con-
nect the supply wires to the receptacle as shown in Figure 4. Reinstall
the receptacle.
Step 7. Reinstall all removed components in reverse order of Step 5.
Reconnect the gas flex line, if it was disconnected for blower installation.
Check any gas connections that were broken for leakage.
IMPORTANT: Ground lead must be connected to the green screw
located on the junction box. Failure to do so will prevent the ap-
pliance from operating. The appliance must be electrically grounded
in accordance with local codes or, in the absence of local codes, the
National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70-(latest edition). (In Canada,
the current CSA C22-1 Canadian Electrical Code.)

Step 8. Insert the control module into the lower opening at the ap-
proximate location shown in Figure 1. The module is self adjusting and
will compress as it is inserted into the compartment. Pull the module
forward to place the front lip of the control module underneath the
front flange of the cabinet bottom panel as shown in Figure 2. Secure
the module in place by snapping it into the slots on the front lip of the
cabinet bottom panel.
Step 9. Plug the blower cord into the module and the module cord into
the top receptacle as shown in Figures 1 and 4.
DIRECT VENT MODELS
Step 11. Reinstall the bottom panel.
Step 12. Restore the electrical power to the unit.
Step 13. Start the fireplace by following the procedure indi-
cated in the lighting instructions section of the Care and Opera-
tion Instructions manual, supplied with the fireplace.
Step 14. Check the start up and shutdown, and the running operation of
the blower. Also check the variable speed feature of the speed control.
The approximate blower start time is 15 minutes from main burner
startup. The approximate blower shut off time is 10 minutes after main
burner shut down.

Step 10. Place the speed control module base in the lower opening of
the firebox (refer to Figure 2 ). Engage the tabs in the slots on the fire-
box bottom floor front lip. Then place the speed control module on the
module base, between the rear ramps. Push the module back, sliding it
up the rear ramp of the base, and secure it in place using the provided
screw in the hole at the front of the base (refer to Figure 3 ).
