CAUTION! Dangerous operating conditions may occur when using the programming interface on the valve as the valve may possibly
not react to the analog setpoint any more.
Provide for protection against uncontrolled movement of equipment when putting the valve into operation and before making any
modifications to the valve settings.

1. INTRODUCTION
The
MOTORFLOw
D
is a motorised control valve designed to control the flow of liquids.
A DC motor controls the opening width to regulate the flow. A potentiometer is integrated into the electrical actuator to
capture the position. A microcontroller enables digital control. Two buttons are provided for manual control. The setpoint
is displayed in % (0-100%).
A PC software and the RS232 interface allows modification of settings and parameters and data recording.
The position is maintained on loss of power. The actuator remains in its current position.

5. MANUAL POSITION ADJUSTMENT (manual operation)
During power up after an interruption in the power supply, press both arrow buttons located beneath the display to switch
to the manual mode. The operating mode is indicated by the letters "H n d" in the display.
This display disappears after having pressed the arrow buttons to show the current setpoint.
Use the arrow buttons to change the setpoint which changes the opening width.
Exit this operating mode by pressing both arrow buttons simultaneously or by turning off the power supply for a short
time.
6. AUTO ADAPT (automatic setting of stop positions)
To enter the Auto-Adapt mode, simultaneously press and hold both buttons located underneath the display for at least 3
seconds. The Auto-Adapt operating mode is indicated by the letters "AdA" in the display.
Then release and push both buttons again for at least 3 seconds to start the auto-adapt procedure. “OPn” is displayed
to indicate the opening process. The module moves into the “open” position until a current increase of the motor occurs
at the open position stop. The module then moves into the “closed position“. “CLO” is displayed to indicate the closing
process. In this case too, the closed position stop is established by the current increase in the motor.
Successful setting of both stop positions is indicated by the letters “END” in the display.
Press the left button to complete the procedure and return the
MOTORFLOw
D
into its normal operating mode.
Errors are immediately displayed.
E 1 Timeout error (> 2 sec) for open stop position
E 2 Plausibility check for open stop position failed
E 3 Timeout error (> 2 sec) for closed stop position
E 4 Plausibility check for closed stop position failed
Push both buttons for at least 3 sec. to delete the error display and return the
MOTORFLOw
D
into its normal operating
mode.
In the event of an error, the previous stop position settings are restored.
7. CASCADED CONTROL
A closed control loop for flow, pressure, temperature etc. can be set up with the
MOTORFLOw
D
and an external sensor.
The setpoint is compared to the feedback signal received from the external sensor and the valve opens or closes to
reach the desired value. Maintaining the mechanical position control allows to stabilise the control loop.
8. FREQUENCY INPUT
Flow rate sensors with turbine technology for liquid monitoring can be directly connected to the frequency input of the
MOTORFLOw
D
. Turbine flow rate sensors with either npn or pnp outputs can be used. The frequency input can process
max. 5000 Hz frequency.
To adapt the frequency input (npn or pnp polarity and frequency range) to your needs, please contact our Product Sup-
port.
