INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
Disconnect all power to range before servicing.
Turn o gas and electrical power to equipment before servicing.
1. Turn all range controls to the OFF position. Remove the knob by
pulling it straight away from the switch shaft. Note the OFF
position on the dial shaft.
2. Before removing the control, tag each wire with the appropriate
wire tag included. Example: the lead wire going to control terminal
L1 would be tagged with L1 wire tag. After tagging, disconnect
wires and remove the old control.
3. Compare the shaft length of the replacement control to that of the
old control. If the breakoff feature is to be used, use two pairs of
pliers for this operation. Place one pair just below and the other
pair just above the breakoff groove. Do not hold the body of the
control during this operation as internal damage could result.
4. Be sure the replacement switch is in the off position. Using
the original mounting holes and figure 1 or 2 as a guide, mount
the replacement control with the control stem-flat in the OFF
position as noted in step 1. The word “top” on the rear of the
new control can be disregarded for those few applications which
require the stem flat to be in a different orientation. However,
for best control operation, mount the switch with the word “top”
in its proper orientation. The new 4-way Slip-Fit® Dial Kits are
available separately so that all top burner control dials can be
replaced to match. Order 4590-762 (chrome), 4590-763 (white),
4590-764 (black). Each dial kit includes 4 dials.
5. To reconnect wires to the replacement control, simple refer to the
wire tags on the lead wires. CAUTION: Be sure that all exposed
terminals and connections on the rear of the new control have
been properly insulated.
CAUTION
THIS DEVICE SHOULD BE INSTALLED BY A QUALIFIED
SERVICE TECHNICIAN WITH DUE REGARD FOR
