Voltage Selection and Backup Amplifier Instructions
Molex Plug Locations
The QAA-5230, QAA-5230S and QAA-5230S-525 Ampliers may operate as 70V or 25V ampliers. THE DEFAULT
VOLTAGE IS 70V. To change the amplier to 25V, remove the orange molex plugs (labelled MD-787) found in J8 and
J9 and replace them with the blue plugs (labelled MD-788) provided with the amplier, one blue mo
lex plug into J8 and
one into J9. Refer to Figure 1 below for molex plug locations. Also, for 25V amplier, change the fuses (provided) as
described below.

the bottom of the
board and clearly
marked F3, F4, F5 and F6)
FOR QAA-5230S-25:
Change fuses F3 and F6 to 1.25A
FOR QAA-5230S-525-25:
Change fuses F4 and F5 to 1.5A
and fuses F3 and F6 to 0.75A

Backup Amplifier
The QAA-5230, QAA-5230S and QAA-5230S-525 Amplifiers may be used as a backup amplifier. One backup is required
per system or node. To use one of these amplifiers as a backup, the molex connector MD-789 packaged with the amplifier,
must be placed over the pins of J10 as shown in figure below.
Note: BACKUP AMPLIFIER IS ONLY AVAILABLE ON THE FIRST ZONE A.
