This product has been designed for use with children up to 24 months of age.
This product has been designed and manufactured to comply with the Safety Standard ASTM F1004.
When used as a safety gate, never use without wall ttings.
When used as a hearth gate, always place the gate minimum 75cm away from the source of heat / re and minimum 90cm from
open re.
Since every replace / wood burning stove reaches different temperatures, the above placing is only intended as a guideline. Test
your own unit at maximum heat output before placing the gate. If the gate is hot to touch, move gate further from heat source than
the recommended minimum distance.
Check and tighten mountings regularly.
Never allow child to climb or swing on gate.
Do not use if any part of gate is broken or missing.
When folded, store away from children.
This product will not necessarily prevent all accidents.
Never leave child unattended.
Use only approved spare parts and accessories from the manufacturer.
Use only with locking mechanism securely engaged.
Install according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
When used as a re surround, this product is not a re guard. It is intended to keep children away from the area surrounding the
replace.
Do not leave anything in the hearth gate which could provide a foothold or create a danger of suffocation or strangulation.
When used as a hearth gate be aware of the risk of open re and other sources of strong heat, such as electric bar res, gas res,
etc in the vicinity of the hearth gate.
Read all instructions before assembly and use of the gate. Keep
instructions for future use.

Setting up as Play Den
1. Unpack the hearth gate on a stable surface making sure the
handle is on the top.
2. Unfold the sections by pushing in
the button on the join and turning
the sections. If required, lift the top
section slightly while pushing the
button.
3. Unfold the hearth gate into either a hexagon or square. The
markings on the top of the hinges indicate the position to unfold
each hinge for either hexagon or square conguration.
4. The removable vertical bar has been tted into the end section
by the manufacturers. Lift up the vertical bar and remove it by
sliding it out of the lower hinge.

5. Remove the pre-assembled
hinge cone and top and
bottom hinge caps from the
ends of the den which are to
be joined together.
6. Connect the two sections by aligning the ends of the sections
and ensuring that the hinges drop together on both the top and
the bottom.
7. Push the vertical bar up into the
top hinge and then slide into the
groove in the bottom hinge. Ensure
the vertical bar is inserted with the
protruding rod at the top.

To open the gate
Squeeze the handle tightly and slide
lock across at the same time. The gate
may then be opened in either direction.
To close the gate
Squeeze the handle tightly and slide the lock at the same time. Align
the gate and gate frame. Release the handle and the gate should lock
correctly. Please note that the gate will be properly secured when the
locking bar has also engaged in the bottom of the gate frame.
Positioning as Hearth Gate around a fireplace
1. When used as a hearth barrier around a replace, the distance between the replace /
hearth and gate sections must be a minimum of 75cm. The gate must never be setup in a
straight line. Should it not be possible to keep the recommended minimum distances, gate
extensions are available for purchase.
2. When used as a hearth barrier around an open re, the distance between the replace and
gate sections must be a minimum of 90cm. The gate must never be setup in a straight line.
WARNING: The minimum distances suggested between replace and gates are only
recommended distances sincce every replace / wood burning stove reaches different
temperatures. Test your unit at maximum heat output before nal placing of the gate.
Place the gate according to the instructions at maximum heat output. If the gate is too hot to
touch, move gate further from the heat source than recommended.

Positioning the Hearth Gate at the bottom of stairs
If the gate is to be positioned at the bottom of stairs. please note the
following:
The gate must be setup in a curve away from the stairs.
The gate must be placed as far away from the stairs as possible
so that the child will not be able to reach the bottom stair and
climb over the gate.
There must be a minimum distance of 40cm between gate and
stairs.
Should it not be possible to keep the recommended minimum
distances, gate extensions are available for purchase.
Positioning the Hearth Gate at the top of stairs
If the gate is to be positioned at the top of stairs. please note the
following:
The gate must be setup in a curve away from the stairs.
The gate must never be setup in a straight line.
There must be a minimum distance of 40cm between gate and
stairs.
Should it not be possible to keep the recommended minimum
distances, gate extensions are available for purchase.
Positioning the Hearth Gate in general
Please note that the child is able to reach through the bars, therefore
ensure the gate is placed far enough away from other objects. The
gate must never be setup in a straight line.
PLEASE NOTE:
With 3 sections, the gate ts openings from 90-180cm
With 5 sections, the gate ts openings from 90-300cm
With 6 sections, the gate ts openings from 90-360cm

5. Remove the hinge cone from the upper hinge and the hinge cap
from the lower rail.

6. Connect the two sections by aligning the ends of the sections
and ensuring that the hinges drop together on both the top and
the bottom.
Fitting the mattress
1. Pass the elastic underneath three
of the hinges.
2. Remove the vertical removable bar,
and loop the elastic around the slot
in the hinge before replacing the
vertical bar.
3. Loop the remaining elastic
underneath and around the
remaining three hinges.
7. Push the vertical bar up into the
top hinge and then slide into the
groove in the bottom hinge. Ensure
the vertical bar is inserted with the
protruding rod at the top.

Installing wall fittings
1. Attach the upper wall bracket to the cone hinge.
2. Push the vertical bar up into the top hinge. Ensure the vertical
bar is inserted with the narrow section at the top.
3. Slide the lower bracket onto the
removable bar and slide into the
lower bracket.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 for other end of
gate.
5. Place the congure gate in the
desired location.
6. Rotate upper and lower brackets
until ush against the mounting
surface. With a pencil, outline
brackets on the mounting surface.
NOTE: Lower bracket is adjustable.
It can be moved up (maximum
15cm) to accomodate various
heights of oor moulding; and
by loosening screw, can adjust
widths to accomodate uneven wall
construction.

7. Remove wall plates from brackets
by pressing locking tabs on the wall
plates and lifting off.
8. Hold one wall plate inside outline on wall and attach using two
wood screws. Repeat for other wall plates.
PLEASE NOTE: Screws provided are for mounting directly
into wood. If mounting into brick, drywall or other surfaces, use
appropriate hardware.
9. Reattach brackets at both ends of the gate to the wall plates.
Gate should now be properly installed.

Adding optional sections
An extension has a top hinge on one side and a cone hinge on the other side. This makes it
possible to t the extension in a range of congurations.
1. The removable vertical bar has been tted by the manufacturer.
Remove the bar by lifting it up and sliding it out of the lower
hinge.
2. Fit the extension in place by placing the top hinge on the hearth
gate over the cone hinge on the extension. The hinges must be
aligned on both top and bottom.
3. Let the hinges drop together and insert the removable vertical
bar.

Removing sections
To remove a section, always remove the
end sections. Remove the removable
vertical bar by lifting it up and sliding it
out of the lower hinge. Lift the section off
the hearth gate.
Fitting hinge caps / covers
Depending on the number of sections
removed or added, you will need to t
the appropriate caps and covers to the
end sections as shown.

Cleaning
To ensure the long-lasting use of your gate, wipe down with a damp cloth and use a mild soap
solution if necessary. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Always store product in a clean dry place.
Maintenance
Always check parts regularly for tightness of screws, nuts and other fasteners – tighten or replace
if required. To maintain the safety of your gate, seek prompt repairs for bent, torn, worn or broken
parts. Use only those parts and accessories approved by CNP Brands.
