4.1 AES Mode
AES (Automatic Exposure System) means the exposure of
camera is controlled by electronic iris and automatic gain
control (AGC). Under the AES mode, AGC is normally set at
minimum level (0 dB) and camera exposure is virtually
controlled by electronic iris. If the exposure is still insufficient
even the shutter speed has changed to maximum (1/50 or 1/60),
then AGC will operate to optimize the exposure. On the
contrary, AGC will reduce the gain first if camera is over
exposure. However, if the exposure is still excessive even the
AGC is reduced to minimum, then electronic iris will shorten the
exposure time to optimize the exposure.
4.2 AES Low Mode
AES Low mode (Flickerless) reduces the blurring picture under
the low light. Under this mode, the shutter speed is set at 1/100
sec. to 1/100,000 sec. for PAL and 1/120 sec. to 1/100,000 for
NTSC respectively. Under this mode, the automatic exposure is

controlled by AGC only.
4.3 Auto Iris Mode
If an auto iris lens is used, this mode should be set. Under this
mode, the shutter speed is fixed at 1/50 sec. (PAL) or 1/60 sec.
(NTSC). The camera exposure is controlled by AGC and auto
iris lens. The built-in microprocessor will measure the amount of
light received on the CCD and then output the control signal to
iris server built-in the auto iris lens.
4.4 Auto Iris with Variable Shutter Speed
This mode is similar with the Auto Iris Mode, only the shutter
speed is variable. With this function, the camera is able to catch
a fast moving object by higher shutter speed, yet still produce a
clear picture without sacrificing the depth of field. Table 2
shows how to set various shutter speeds.

5. ME (Manual Exposure) Setting
AE-ME: I (ME position)
Manual Exposure means the exposure of camera is controlled
by fixed shutter speed and gain. Different shutter speed and
gain can be set via combination of DIP switch. The setting of
DIP switch no. 2, 3, 4 (Table 3) determine shutter speeds and
DIP switch no. 6, 7 (Table 4) determine gains.

6. BLC (Back Light Compensation)
MC-600 series features an intelligent digital BLC which consists state-of-the-
art Central Window Weighted Average (CWW) BLC and Histogram
Calculated (HC) BLC. The combination of these two types of BLC makes MC-
600 series to produce an optimum back light compensation at all time.

The built-in DSP divides the screen into 225 (15 X 15) segments which are
specified into five detection windows. The integrated luminous intensity of
each window is continuously measured by weighing the value and the
average determines an accurate back light compensation. This type of BLC
is suitable for the applications that main object always locate at central area
of picture.
6.2 Histogram Calculated BLC
This intelligent BLC categorize the image into three parts (high-medium -low)
according to the brightness level of each pixel and calculate the histogram of
each part. With the integration of histogram of all three parts, the
microprocessor will determine the operation level of BLC. This type of BLC is
suitable for the areas where object will move around within the scene.
