Smart USB Quick Installation

Notes before installation:

My Memory is only one USB Disk as you don’t use SmartUSB program.

Please check your operation system when you start to use SmartUSB program.

It can operate without any driver if your operation system is Windows 2000/XP.

Please follow the following steps to install driver if your operation system is

Windows 98/98 SE.

( * Please remind that you cannot plug My Memory in the computer before

installing driver.)

1. Install the installation program into computer

(You must install it into the computer firstly, then you can use it to install

“USB installing program”.)

Install Driver – Only Win98 need to install

Operate Install Smart USB (Windows 2000 needs to update above SP3

version that can install security function, or only normal Disk function ; and

Windows XP needs to update above SP1 version. )

(1) Operate “AutoRun” of the product’s accessories.

(2) “Install Smart USB” and “Install Driver” will appear on the screen.

Please press Install Driver to operate Win98 driver installation. After

installation is completed, it will re-boot again.

Note: If you still cannot use My Memory USB Disk after installation,

please check if there is any symbol appears over the following steps:

Desktop Æ Start Æ Setting Æ Control ÆSystem ÆDevice Manager Æ

USB Control Æ USB Root Hub

If this situation happens, please deal with it according to the following two

ways:

a. Please remove “USB Root Hub ” and scan it again, then install the

new device.

b. As entering USB Root Hub, please select Update Driver and click

D:/driver/driver for program installing path. Then click Next.

(3) Installation is completed.

(4) After installation is completed, please click “Power” icon in the center of

tooling window and exit.

2. Install SmartUSB application to My Memory USB Disk

(1) Operate Start Æ ProgramÆ LeadtekÆ Smart USB

(2) Please operate “My Memory Utilities” to partition the sector in the first

installation.

Please use the default Password (WinFast) as you partition the sector.

You can change your own password after finishing the actual installation.

(3) Please move the slider right and left in the window to decide security

sector and general sector size. Then press “Format” after making sure.

There will be a dialogue box to warm you that formatting will erase all

data on disk after pressing “Format”.

Note: If you don’t want to partition the disk sector, please operate step 7

directly.

The following dialogue box will appear in “Format” process, it informs

you to eject flash disk then plug in again, or this dialogue box will

continue appear.

Press “OK” to continue after flash disk being plug in and working

health.

(4) After completing Format process, please operate “Install Smart USB”

to install application program.

(5) Select the application functional item you need. (Press one time means

setting, and press two times means delete the setting.)

(6) After selection, press “Install”; when the installation is completed, press

“Exit” to finish it.

(7) If you don’t want to partition USB Disk into two disk sectors or you

want to revert it to one disk sector after partition, please restart

Note: In disk size, please set “security” part as 0MB, then press “Format”

to bring up the following display.

(8) The application in Smart USB cannot install in My Memory USB Disk as

you select no-partition disk sector (it means to use the first sector).

The computer will consider My Memory USB Disk does not exist, so

SmartUSB application cannot proceed to install. At this moment, My

Memory USB Disk is only normal portable disk function with data access.

3. Use Smart USB

As selecting “My Computer”, removable disk (E:) or removable disk (F:)

will appear on the screen. Please move the cursor to E or F disk and click

the right key, then click “Leadtek SmartUSB” to bring up functional

items to select.

Generally, E disk is for accessing data and F disk is for security function,

so to access data is unavailable before unlocking. If you want to access

data in F disk, you must use “Unlock Security Partition” functional item

in application program to open F disk block, and the following dialogue

box will appear:

Enter the password you set (Default value is WinFast), and then press

“OK”. As you use F disk, please use lock security partition to lock F

disk. The following dialogue box will appear, press “OK” to complete it.

4. SmartUSB Application Function Supplement

As the users install SmartUSB, there are eight applications to choose

which depends on their request. If you install SmartUSB without any

selection, SmartUSB will install the 7

item “Secured File Password” and

the 8

item “Unlock Security Partition” automatically. Each using

explanation are as below:

(1) Email

The using way is the same with normal e-mail program using way.

(2) PC Lock

To lock the computer for 1~24hr, and the unlock way is:

* Disk unlock (It must be the original Disk)

* Time Out unlock (Depends on the setting time 1~24hr set by user)

As time is up, the computer will auto-unlock even if without plugging

in disk.

(3) My Favorite

The function is the same with “My Favorite” to record your usual using

website name and data. As you enable this function, the left column

records “My Favorite” data in computer, and the right column records

“My Favorite” data in USB Disk. You can transfer both data

simultaneously by

→ ← key.

(4) Explore Ramdisk

Depress the file data and manage it directly.

E Disk F Disk

(5) My Password

Record and manage the website/ user name/ password the user often

use. The password terminal usd ******** to protect personal data

security, and the user can use it by copy way.

(6) Disk Performance

Test (read/write) speed for disk drive.

(7) Secured File Password

*Enter the original passward

* Enter new password, then press OK after keying two times.

(8) Unlock Security Partition

* The appearing dialogue box as you unlock security disk

* The appearing dialogue box as you lock security disk.

5. The way in other uninstalled Smart USB computer

(1) Select “My Computer”

(2) Click E disk (You cannot enter in F disk because of security)

(3) The following dialogue will appear as you click “Smart USB”

(4) After selecting “Initialize now”, the following dialogue box will appear.

(5) As “Initialize success” appears, press OK to complete it.

(6) Select “E” or “F” disk and right click the mouse key. If you select

“Leaktek Smart USB”, the following functional item will appear.

(7) The steps of uninstallation is the same, if you follow the above 1~3

steps and enter into “Smart USB”, the following dialogue box will

appear.

(8) Click “UnInitialize” and the following dialogue box will appear.

It means to remove SmartUSB application, but the data still stay in

USB Disk. Click “Yes” and the following dialogue box will appear.

Then click “OK” and finish it.
