YW-3500WIRELESS DIPOLE ANTENNA
INSTRUCTION MANUAL
1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Be sure to read the instructions in this section carefully before use.
• Make sure to observe the instructions in this manual as the conventions of safety symbols and messages
regarded as very important precautions are included.
We also recommend you keep this instruction manual handy for future reference.
Safety Symbol and Message Conventions
Safety symbols and messages described below are used in this manual to prevent bodily injury and property
damage which could result from mishandling. Before operating your product, read this manual first and
understand the safety symbols and messages so you are thoroughly aware of the potential safety hazards.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if mishandled, could
result in death or serious personal injury.
WARNING
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if mishandled, could
result in moderate or minor personal injury, and/or property damage.
CAUTION
Be sure to securely mount the unit on the wall or ceiling that is robust enough to stand the antenna weight.
Failure to do so may drop the antenna, causing personal injury and/or property damage.
Do not expose the unit to rain or an environment where it may be splashed by water or other liquids, as
doing so may result in fire or electric shock.
To prevent lightning strikes, install the unit at least five meters away from a lightning rod, and yet within the
protective range (angle of 45°) of the lightning conductor. Lightning strikes may cause a fire, electric shock
or personal injury.
• Since the unit is designed for in-door use, do not install it outdoors. If installed outdoors, the aging of parts
causes the unit to fall off, resulting in personal injury. Also, when it gets wet with rain, there is a danger of
electric shock.
Use nuts and bolts that are appropriate for the ceiling's or wall's structure and composition. Failure to do so
may cause the unit to fall, resulting in material damage and possible personal injury.
Do not touch a plug or antenna during thunder and lightning, as this may result in electric shock.
Leave the installation of an antenna to your TOA dealer because the installation requires expert knowledge.
The falling of an antenna may cause personal injury.
Do not place heavy objects on the unit as this may cause it to fall or break which may result in personal
injury and/or property damage. In addition, the object itself may fall off and cause injury and/or damage.
Install the antenna in a place where one does not easily hit one's head or face against the antenna element.
Doing otherwise may cause personal injury.
2. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The TOA YW-3500 is a indoor-use dipole antenna for VHF band wireless systems. It incorporates a band-
pass filter and a booster amplifier, and is equipped with an LED to check its operation.
3. INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS
When installing the YW-3500 in a room of a tall building, be sure to position it more than 1 m from a window
to minimize interference caused by broadcasting or commercial radio waves of external noise.
To avoid accidental operation of channels not in use or radio interference, there must be the distance
greater than 3 m between the YW-3500 and the wireless microphone. Setting the antenna within 3 m of the
wireless microphone may cause an unselected channel to be operated or radio interference to be generated.
When using two or more antennas, they should be spaced out 6 to
18 m apart from each other.
Take special care when stripping the end of coaxial cable, and
when connecting the cable end of the antenna and BNC connector.
Incomplete stripping and connection deteriorates receiving
sensitivity, and increases interference caused by external noise.
Use the coaxial cable with 75 impedance.
• Do not install the YW-3500 near metal or power cables (within 30
cm from the antenna element). Failure to do so will cause the
receiving sensitivity to deteriorate.
When installing the YW-3500, be sure the antenna element tip is
over 5 cm away from the ceiling, and over 2.4 m from the floor.

5. INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
5.1. Attach the frame to the wall.
5.1.1. If the coaxial cable is wired over the wall from the ceiling or floor
Step 1. Cut the cable outlet of the frame using cutting pliers, etc.
Step 2. Secure the frame to the wall by means of two accessory screws
with the frame outlet oriented toward the direction the cable comes
from. Draw the cable through the outlet as shown below.

5.1.2. If the coaxial cable is to be draw directly from the wall surface
Step 1. Drill a ø20 mm hole.
Step 2. Run the coaxial cable through the hole and the
frame as well. Secure the frame with two
accessory screws and draw the coaxial cable out
as shown on the right.
5.1.3. If the coaxial cable is installed using a recessed electrical wall box (Panel screw pitch: 68.5 mm,
Machine screw: M3.5, 2 pieces)
Step 1. Drill a ø20 mm hole in the panel.
Step 2. Pass the coaxial cable from the wall box into the
panel hole and then into the frame. Secure the
frame and panel to the recessed wall box using
two accessory screws, and draw the coaxial cable
out as shown on the right.
Tip: Be sure to use a pipe thick enough to allow
the wired coaxial cable to easily pass.
Note: Set the antenna vertically to the ceiling. When installed horizontally, the receiving sensitivity of the
antenna decreases by about 6 dB. Note that the receiving sensitivity greatly depends on the installation
condition.
5.2. Strip coaxial cable end.
