AnapplicationdefinitionisasetofinstructionsthatNovellSecureLoginfollowstoperformtaskson
Windowsapplications,Javaapplications,orWebpages.Forexample,youcanuseanapplication
definitiontosaveuserlogincredentials,sousersdon’tneedtotype ausernameandpasswordevery
timetheywantto
accessanapplication.

Anapplicationdefinitionisacollectionofins truct ionsthathandlemultipleoperationsassociated
withcredentialsoftheapplicationsuchaslogin,changepassword,applicationprompts,application
notifications.Itcontainsspecificinstructionsthatallowthesoftwareclienttoanalyzeanapplication
afteritislaunchedanddeterminewhethersomespecific
actionsneedtobeperformed.
ApplicationdefinitionsspecifyhowNovellSecureLogininteractswithanapplicationtouseasingle
signoncredential.NovellSecureLogincomeswithpredefinedapplicationdefinitionsformany
commercialapplications.
Youcanusethepredefinedapplicationdefinitionsorcreatenewapplicationdefinitiontoenable
singlesignonforapplications.

TheApplicationDefinitionWizardprovidesaneasyandintutiveinterfacetocreatenewuser
specificapplicationdefinitions.ItalsomanagestheuserspecificcredentialsandtasksthatNovell
SecureLoginperformsonmultipleapplications,includingthefollowing:
Retrievingandenteringlogindetails.
Automatingmanyloginprocesses,includingmultipageloginsand
loginpanelsthatrequire
miscellaneousinformationsuchassurnames,telephonenumbers,orIPaddresses.Thesecan
alsobestoredinthedirectory.
Whenyoulogintoanapplicationforthefirsttimeifyouhavepermissiontocreateanapplication
definition,youarepromptedtocreateanapplicationdefinitionif
NovellSecureLoginisactiveon
yourworkstation.
Althoughyoucanenablevarioustypesofapplicationforsinglesignonusingthe application
definitionwizard,somespecificapplicationscannotbeenabledforsinglesignon.Forinformation
