2.1 General safety

z Make sure no combustible objects are stored or installed near the air out-

let. A distance of at least 50 cm must be kept.

z Do not reach into air outlets or insert any foreign objects in the device.

z Do not undo the upper cover of the roof air conditioner in the event of a

fire. Use approved extinguishing agents instead. Do not use water to ex-

tinguish fires.

z Never drive through automatic car washes when the roof air conditioner

is mounted.

z Please ask your vehicle manufacturer if a technical inspection is required

after fitting an air conditioner and whether the height entered in your veh-

icule documents needs to be altered (increased height 199 mm).

z If faults occur in the system's refrigerant circuit, the system must be

checked by a specialist company and properly repaired. The refrigerant

must never be released into the air.

2.2 Operating the device safely

z Do not operate the roof air conditioner if the ambient temperature is below

0 °C. There is also a risk of damage from freezing condensation.

z The roof air conditioner is not suitable for use in agricultural or construc-

tion vehicles.

z Only operate the roof air conditioner if you are certain that the housing

and the cables are not damaged.

z Always disconnect the power supply when working on the device.

4 Scope of delivery

4.1 Accessories

5 Proper use

The CA2500 roof air conditioner can cool down or warm up the interior of sta-

tionary caravans and campers. In fresh-air mode, outer air is diverted into the

vehicle.

Note

The WAECO DC extension kit (accessory) can be used to extend

the CA2500 roof air conditioner while in motion.

The roof air conditioner is not suitable for installation in construction ma-

chines, agricultural machines or similar equipment. It does not work properly

in the event of strong vibrations.

The roof air conditioner is designed for ambient temperatures of not more

than 43 °C in the cooling mode and not more than 30 °C in the heating mode.

6 Technical description

The roof air conditioner can be used for variable air conditioning inside the

vehicle. The devices are operated by remote control.

Note

The air conditioner can lower or raise the temperature within the ve-

hicle to a certain value. The cooling temperature depends on the

type of vehicle, the ambient temperature and the cooling capacity

of your air conditioner. The cooling capacity of your air conditioner

see chapter “Technical data” on page 37.

The refrigerant circuit of the roof air conditioner consists of four main compo-

nents:

z Compressor

The compressor draws in the R407c refrigerant and compresses it. This

raises the pressure and therefore the temperature of the refrigerant.

z Condenser

The built-in liquifier works like a cooler or heat exchanger. The air flowing

past absorbs the heat and the hot refrigerant gas cools down and be-

comes liquid.

z Vaporiser

The vaporiser cools down the air flowing past and dehydrates it. The re-

frigerant absorbs the heat and vaporises. The cooled air is distributed

within the vehicle through an air outlet unit.

z Capillary tube

The capillary tube reduces the refrigerant from condensor pressure to

lower vaporisation pressure.

Note

At low temperatures, it is possible to heat up the outflowing air. To

do this, the drawn-in air is heated up by an electrical resistance

heating. A thermostat regulates the air temperature.

7 Control panel

The control panel is at the air outlet unit of the roof air conditioner. With the

control panel, it is possible to switch on the device without using the remote

control. Furthermore, the operating statuses of the roof air conditioner are in-

dicated by LEDs.

The following control and display elements are available for operating the

system:

–On:

The roof air conditioner is switched on and the compressor

is operating (fresh-air or heating mode).

– Off:

The roof air conditioner is switched off.

– Flashing:

The device is being started up (cooling mode).

–On:

There is an active timer program for the roof air conditioner.

– Off:

There is currently no timer program active for the roof air

conditioner.

7.1 Remote control

All settings of the device (timer programming, temperature setting etc.) are

transmitted to the system by remote control.

The following control and display elements are available on the remote con-

trol for operating the system:

8 Operating the roof air conditioner

You can switch the roof air conditioner on and off on the control panel.

You can use the remote control to

– switch on and off

– make the settings and

– set the timer.

Note

The remote control must be pointed directly in the direction of the

control panel in order to transmit the information (see chapter “Con-

trol panel” on page 26).

Note

The desired values for operating the roof air conditioner are select-

ed using the keys on the remote control and are shown on the dis-

play.

The device only adopts the settings once they have been transmit-

ted by the remote control.

8.1 Tip for improved use

Observe the following instructions for use, to ensure your roof air conditioner

is used efficiently:

z If the vehicle has been exposed to sunlight for a long period of time, the

device should first be set to fresh-air mode and the windows should be

opened before switching to cooling mode.

z Avoid opening doors and windows as far as possible during cooling and

heating.

z Select an appropriate temperature and air speed.

z Align the air nozzles.

z Wait at least three minutes after using the On/Off switch (either manually

or by remote control) to switch off the air conditioner in cooling mode be-

fore switching on the system again using the On/Off switch.

z Make sure the air nozzles and intake grille are not covered by cloths, pa-

per or other objects.

z Do not close the air nozzles completely.

Caution – risk of damage

The manufacturer assumes no liability for non-observance of this

operating manual, in particular for any consequential damage, es-

pecially consequential damage caused by failure of the air condi-

tioner.

8.2 Before start-up

Inspection before starting up

Before you switch on the roof air conditioner, observe the following:

z Check whether the supply voltage and frequency correspond to the val-

ues specified in the previous section.

z Ensure both the air intake opening and the air nozzles are free. All venti-

lation grilles must always be kept free to ensure the air conditioner is able

to operate at maximum capacity.

Warning – danger of injury

Do not insert your fingers or objects into the air distribution nozzles

or the intake grille.

Insert the batteries into the remote control

Insert the supplied batteries into the battery compartment at the back of the

remote control before putting the device into service for the first time:

➤ Apply slight pressure to push the cover of the battery compartment in the

direction of the arrow displayed on the cover.

➤ Insert the batteries in the remote control as indicated in the battery com-

partment.

➤ Close the cover of the battery compartment.

Note

Discharged batteries are hazardous waste and must be disposed

of in battery receivers – ask your specialist dealer.

Only those power packs and lithium batteries which have been

completely discharged or secured against short circuits may be

thrown into the battery receivers.

8.3 Adjusting the air nozzles

Caution!

Never close all of the air nozzles of the roof air conditioner simulta-

neously.

The device would freeze from within and the icing sensor would

switch off the device.

The air supply within the vehicle can be regulated by opening or closing the

air nozzles (fig. 3 1 und 2, page 2).

The lateral air nozzles (fig. 3 1, page 2) can be set to an angle of approxi-

mately 120° in order to divert the air stream in the desired direction.

➤ Open or close the air nozzles to regulate the air current as desired every-

where within the vehicle.

➤ Set the desired air current outlet angle using the wheel of the lateral air

nozzles.

8.4 Switching on the roof air conditioner

➤ Press the On/Send key to switch on the device.

✓ Air conditioning is started with the values which were last sent to the

system.

8.5 Switching off the roof air conditioner

➤ Press the Off button to switch off the device.

8.6 Setting the time

The remote control needs the current time in order to program the timer.

The time is indicated on the display of the remote control.

Perform the following steps to set the time:

Note

The remote control returns to its initial mode if no key is pressed on

the remote control for ten seconds while setting the time.

➤ Press the Select key to go to the mode used to set the time.

✓ The CLOCK SET message flashes on the display of the remote control.

➤ Select the hour of the current time using the + or – key.

➤ Press the Select key.

➤ Select the minute of the current time using the + or – key.

➤ Press the On/Send key to send the values on the display to the device.

8.7 Selecting the air conditioning mode

The following air conditioning modes can be selected in order to operate the

roof air conditioner:

➤ Select the air conditioning mode of your choice using the Mode key.

✓ The currently selected air conditioning mode is indicated by a black sym-

bol on the display of the remote control.

➤ Press the On/Send key to send the values on the display to the device.

8.8 Selecting the blower setting

The fan integrated in the device regulates the current of the air supply.

The fan can be set manually or operated in automatic mode.

The following settings can be selected to control the blower level:

➤ Use the Fan key to select the desired blower level.

✓ The currently selected blower level is indicated by a black symbol on the

display of the remote control.

➤ Press the On/Send key to send the values on the display to the device.

8.9 Selecting the temperature

The roof air conditioner is provided with automatic air conditioning.

You can select the temperature of your choice using the remote control:

➤ Use the + or – key to select the desired temperature.

✓ The currently selected temperature is indicated on the display of the re-

mote control.

You can select temperatures between 10 °C and 30 °C.

➤ Press the On/Send key to send the values on the display to the device.

8.10 Setting the timer

Timer programming allows the user to set a selected period of time for air

conditioning.

Note

The remote control returns to its initial mode if no key is pressed on

the remote control for ten seconds while programming the timer.

➤ Select all desired values (conditioning modes, blower level and tempera-

ture) for timer programming.

➤ Press the Select key twice to go to the mode used to program the timer.

✓ The Start program message flashes on the display of the remote control.

➤ Select the hour of the time at which the program is to be started using the

+ or – key.

➤ Press the Select key.

➤ Select the minute of the time at which the program is to be started using

the + or – key.

➤ Press the Select key.

➤ Select the hour of the time at which the program is to be ended using the

+ or – key.

➤ Press the Select key.

➤ Select the minute of the time at which the program is to be ended using

the + or – key.

➤ Press the + key to activate timer programming.

Note

The symbol is displayed on a black background once

you have created a new timer program.

This black background indicates an active timer program. .

Only an active timer program can be started at the selected time af-

ter being sent to the thermostat.

To deactivate the timer program of the air conditioner, change the

setting using the - key (the background of the symbol turns white)

and transmit this setting to the device.

➤ Press the On/Send key to send the values on the display to the device.

9 Cleaning and caring for the roof air

conditioner

Caution – risk of damage

z Do not clean the roof air conditioner with a high-pressure clean-

er. Exposure to water can damage the roof air conditioner.

z Do not use sharp or hard objects or cleaning agents for cleaning

as these may damage the device.

➤ Clean the housing of the roof air conditioner and the air outlet unit

occasionally with a damp cloth.

➤ Remove leaves and other dirt from the ventilation grilles of the roof air

conditioner occasionally. Make sure you do not damage the grilles in the

process.

➤ Check the seal between the roof air conditioner and the roof of the vehicle

for cracks and other damage once a year.

➤ Check from time to time whether the condensation water drainage chan-

nels at the sides of the roof air conditioner are clear and the condensation

water is able to escape.

➤ Clean the remote control with a slightly damp cloth from time to time. We

recommend using a cleaning cloth for glasses to clean the display.

11 Guarantee

The statutory warranty period applies. If the product is defective, please con-

tact your retailer or the manufacturer's branch in your country (see the back

of the instruction manual for the addresses).

For repair and guarantee processing, please include the following docu-

ments when you send in the device:

z A copy of the receipt with purchasing date

z A reason for the claim or description of the fault

12 Disposal

12.1 Disposing of packaging material

➤ Place the packaging material in the appropriate recycling waste bins

wherever possible.

12.2 Disposing of the old device

When it comes time to scrap the device, ask your local recycling cen-

tre or dealer for details about how to do this in accordance with the

applicable disposal regulations.

12.3 Disposing of remote control batteries

Protect the environment!

Defective batteries do not belong in the general household waste.

Return exhausted or defective batteries to your retailer or dispose

of them at collection points.
