1. General Information
1.1. Read and retain the operating manual
This operating manual contains important information regarding the safe use of the kitchen
radio as well as details on day-to-day use and disposal. Carefully familiarize yourself with
the operating manual, paying special attention to the safety instructions before using the
kitchen radio, and use it only for the application areas and purposes described. If you give
the kitchen radio away or sell it, please ensure that you also pass on the operating manual. It is part of
the product.

2. Safety
2.1. Intended use
This device is an entertainment electronics device used to receive
and reproduce analogue radio stations. The device can also be
used as a clock and alarm clock. It is suitable only for private use,
not for industrial or commercial purposes. The device may also not
be used in tropical climates. The manufacturer is not liable for any
damage or problems caused by unauthorized modifications. Only
use the accessories specified by the manufacturer. Observe the
regulations and laws in the respective country of use.
Please note that different national regulations may exist in different
countries as to which frequency bands may be received freely.
Information received outside of the granted frequency ranges may
not be used or its content or the fact of its reception passed on to
third parties.
2.2. Safety Instructions

Batteries
In case of battery leakage, remove the batteries to avoid damaging the kitchen radio. You can remove
leaked battery fluid with a dry, absorbent cloth. Wear suitable gloves to do so! Contact with the skin
must be avoided. In the case of contact with eyes, rinse eyes immediately with plenty of water and
seek medical attention.
Always take care to install your batteries correctly observing the “+” and “-” marks on the battery and
the device.
Always replace the whole set of batteries at one time, taking care not to mix old and new ones, or
batteries of different types.
Remove discharged batteries from equipment promptly to avoid possible damage from leakage.
Never dispose of batteries in fire, except under conditions of controlled incineration. (Failure to
observe this precaution may result in an explosion.)
Never attempt to recharge primary batteries as this may cause leakage, fire, or explosion.
Never short circuit batteries as this may lead to high temperatures, leakage, or explosion.
Never heat batteries in order to revive them.
Never attempt to disassemble or open batteries as this can lead to electrolyte burns.
Keep batteries out of the reach of children, especially those batteries fitting within the limits of the
truncated cylinder as defined in Figure 1.

Immediately seek medical attention if a cell or battery has been swallowed. Also, contact your local
poison control center.
Operational safety
Only plug the power plug of the kitchen radio into a freely accessible power socket so that it can be
quickly disconnected from the power grid in case of danger (smoke, burning smell). The socket must
always remain easily accessible during operation.
Once the kitchen radio is connected to the power grid, it consumes power. Even if the device is not in
use, it consumes minimal power. Disconnect the kitchen radio from the power grid before extended
periods of non-use, for example while on vacation. You also minimize the risk of fire or smoldering,

which always exists when an electrical device is connected to the power grid. To completely
disconnect the kitchen radio from the power grid, the power plug must be unplugged from the socket.
Do not use adapter plugs or extension cords that are damaged or do not conform to the applicable
safety standards.
Never open the housing of the device. If the housing is open, there is danger to life due to electric
shock.
Make sure:
to never touch the device with wet hands, there is a risk of electric shock,
that no fire hazards (e.g., burning candles) are placed on or near the device.
Cables
Never touch the power cord with wet hands, there is a risk of electric shock! Always grasp all cables by
the plug and do not pull on the cord itself. Do not place furniture or other heavy objects on cables. Be
careful not to kink them, especially at the plug and sockets. Do not route cables over hot or sharp points
and edges to avoid damage. A damaged power cord can cause a fire or electric shock. Check the
power cord from time to time. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or
its customer service or a similarly qualified person. Never tie a knot in a cable, and do not tie it to other
cables. All cables must be routed in such a way that no one steps on or is hindered.
Maintenance
Repair work is required if the device has been damaged. For example, if the device housing was
damaged, liquid or objects penetrated the device interior, or if it was exposed to rain or moisture.
Repairs are also required if the device does not work properly or was dropped. If smoke, unusual noises
or odors are detected, immediately unplug the device from the power source. If this occurs, do not
continue to use the device and have it checked out by a qualified person. All repair work must be
carried out by qualified specialist personnel. Never open the housing of the device, as this will void your
warranty.
Cleaning
Disconnect the device from the power source before cleaning, there is a risk of electric shock. Clean the
kitchen radio with a clean, slightly damp cloth only. Never use aggressive liquids. For stubborn dirt,
apply a small amount of detergent to the damp cloth. Do not attempt to open the housing of the device,
as this will void your warranty.

Operational safety
Disconnect the kitchen radio from the power grid before a storm or thunderstorm with a risk of
lightning, as the kitchen radio can be destroyed by overvoltage due to lighting.
The device is not designed for operation in rooms with high humidity (e.g., bathroom) or excessive
dust.
Make sure:
that the device is not exposed to direct heat sources (e.g, heaters),
that the device is not exposed to direct sunlight or strong artificial light,
that contact with splash and dripping water and aggressive liquids is avoided and that the device is
not operated near water. In particular, the device must never be immersed. Do not place any
containers containing liquid such as drinks, vases, etc. on or next to the device,
that the device is not in the immediate vicinity of magnetic fields (e.g., loudspeakers),
that no fire hazards (e.g., burning candles) are placed on or near the device,
that no foreign bodies penetrate,
that the device is not exposed to excessive temperature fluctuations, otherwise humidity may condense
and lead to electrical short circuits. However, if the device was exposed to severe temperature
fluctuations, wait approximately two hours before use until the device has reached ambient
temperature,
that the device is not exposed to excessive shock and vibration.

3. Scope of delivery
Remove the kitchen radio and all the accessories from the packaging. Remove the packaging material
and check that all parts are complete and undamaged. If you find anything missing or damaged, please
contact the manufacturer.

7. Before you start
The kitchen radio can be operated either freestanding or under a wall cabinet. You can also provide the
device with backup batteries. Please refer to chapter “7.4 Inserting backup batteries.”
7.1 Wire antenna
A wire antenna [18] can be found on the rear side of the kitchen radio. It is wound up in the delivery
condition. Unwind it completely for good radio reception.
7.2 Operation without mounting (freestanding)
Operate the kitchen radio on a flat surface. Fold out the stand [20] so that the speakers [22] are not
covered.
7.3 Installation under a wall cabinet
Do not operate the device in a hot, humid or wet environment. Do not mount the
kitchen radio directly over a stove, so it will not be exposed to steam.
Installation will damage the wall cabinet. The manufacturer assumes no liability for
improper/incorrect installation or damage caused by drilling.
Before mounting, check whether a good radio reception is possible at the desired
installation location.
Before mounting, check whether you can easily reach the power socket with the power
cord from the desired place of installation.

You need the following tools for mounting:

0.08 inch / 2 mm wood drill
Screw driver
Proceed as follows to mount the kitchen radio under a wall cabinet:
Hold the mounting template [G] in a suitable place under your wall cabinet.
Position a nail to each of the marks of the mounting template [G] and make a small indentation in your
wall cabinet.
Take the mounting template [G] from the wall cabinet.
Use a 0.08 inch / 2 mm wood drill to drill small holes at the previously created indentations.
Slide the mounting plate [17] to the back off from the kitchen radio and remove it.
Now choose whether to install the kitchen radio with or without spacers [C].
Mounting with spacers [C]: Place the spacers [C] between the wall cabinet and the mounting
plate [17]. Tighten the mounting plate [17] with the long screws [D].
Mounting without spacers [C]: Tighten the mounting plate [17] with the short screws [E].
Slide the kitchen radio with its top side onto the mounting plate [17] until it clicks into place. Check the
secure fit of the device.
Route the wire antenna [18] and the power cord [19].
Proceed as follows to remove the kitchen radio:
Pull the kitchen radio forwards off from the mounting plate [17].
Remove the screws from the mounting plate [17]. Remove the mounting plate [17] and, if necessary,
the spacers [C] from the wall cabinet.
7.4 Inserting backup batteries
A battery compartment [23] for backup batteries can be found at the bottom of the kitchen radio. You
have the option of inserting batteries here (not included), so that previously stored stations, alarm times,
and the time are not lost in the event of a power failure.
Proceed as follows to insert backup batteries:
Open the battery compartment [23] on the bottom side of the kitchen radio by sliding and removing
the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow.
Insert the batteries (2 AA batteries, not included) with the correct polarity (pay attention to + and -).
The polarity is sketched on the batteries and in the battery compartment [23].
Now replace the battery compartment cover on the battery compartment [23] and slide it against the
direction of the arrow until it clicks into place.
Remove the batteries when you do not use the device for an extended period. The
batteries could leak and cause damage to the device.

8. Start-up and operation
8.1 Connecting the power supply
Connect the power plug of the kitchen radio to an always easily accessible power socket.
When the kitchen radio is first plugged into a power socket and no backup batteries are
inserted, it automatically searches for and stores all receivable radio stations. A
maximum of 30 radio stations can be stored. After completion of the station search, the
symbol [32] flashes on the display [1] for a while. Now time and date are
automatically synchronized with a good RBDS signal. If automatic synchronization does
not work, the RBDS signal is too weak and you must set the time and date manually.
8.2 Switching the kitchen radio on and off
Switch on the kitchen radio by briefly pressing the VOLUME control [14].
Briefly press the VOLUME control [14] again to switch off the kitchen radio.
When the device is switched off, it will start in the last active operating mode
(Radio/AUX) the next time it is switched on
8.3 Adjusting the volume
You can adjust the volume in steps from “00” (minimum volume) to “20” (maximum volume). Turn the
VOLUME control [14] counterclockwise to decrease the volume or clockwise to increase the volume.
The currently set volume is shown on the display [1].
8.4 Selecting a station
Call up stored stations as follows:
Switch directly through the stored stations using the PRESET- [3] and PRESET+ [4] buttons.
8.5 Automatic station search
The automatic station search searches for all receivable stations and stores them automatically. A
maximum of 30 stations can be stored. Proceed as follows to perform the automatic station search:
Switch the kitchen radio in radio mode.
Press and hold the / AMS [10] button for about 2 seconds.
Automatic station search is now started. Please wait until the search is completed.
8.6 Manual station search
This function allows you to search for a station without saving it automatically.
Switch the kitchen radio in radio mode.
Press and hold the SEARCH- [9] or SEARCH+ [6] button for about 2 seconds to start scanning in the
selected direction. The search stops at the next station found.

8.7 Manual tuning
As an alternative to station search, you can also set stations manually. This makes it possible to find even
weaker stations. To do so, proceed as follows:
Switch the kitchen radio in radio mode.
Briefly press the SEARCH- [9] or SEARCH+ [6] button to increase or decrease the frequency by one
step (0.1 MHz).
8.8 Storing stations manually
Proceed as follows to store the currently playing station:
Press and hold the / MEM [13] button for about 2 seconds. The selected memory location, e.g.,
“P01”, flashes on the display [1].
Use the PRESET- [3] and PRESET+ [4] buttons to select the desired memory location.
Briefly press the / MEM [13] button to store the station.
8.9 Stereo/mono operation
As soon as a station is received in stereo, the ST indicator [28] appears on the display [1]. You can
change the playback to “Mono”, e.g., to reduce the noise for weak stations. Proceed as follows:
Press and hold the / ST/MO [8] button for about 2 seconds. The ST indicator [28] disappears
from the display [1].
To switch back to “Stereo”, press and hold the / ST/MO [8] button for about 2 seconds. Now,
the ST indicator [28] appears on the display [1].
8.10 Sleep timer
Using the sleep timer, you can set a time between 10 and 120 minutes, after which the kitchen radio
switches off automatically.
Press the SNOOZE / SLEEP button [12] briefly during operation. The display [1] shows “120” for a
switch-off time in 120 minutes.
Every time, you press on the SNOOZE / SLEEP button [12], the number of minutes is decreased by 10
minutes. If the SNOOZE / SLEEP [12] button is pressed again after “10” is displayed, the display will
show “OFF”. Option “OFF” deactivates the sleep timer. The selected option will be activated
automatically after approx. 3 seconds.
The remaining time of the sleep timer can be displayed by briefly pressing the SNOOZE / SLEEP
button [12].
You can also cancel the sleep timer by simply switching off the kitchen radio.

8.11 Kitchen timer
The kitchen radio has 2 timers, which you can use independently. Proceed as follows:
Press the T1 [15] button to set timer 1 or T2 [16] to set timer 2. The display [1] flashes according to
the selected timer T1 [38] or T2 [26].
Timer 1 can also be set directly by turning the TIMER control [5].
Turn the TIMER control [5] to set the time for timer 1 [39] or timer 2 [25].
Timer 1 can be set in 1-minute increments from 1 minute to 3 hours 59 minutes.
Timer 2 can be set in 5-minute increments from 5 minutes to 3 hours 55 minutes.
Press the TIMER control [5] to accept the set time. The timer now starts the countdown. The activated
timer T1 [38] and/or T2 [26] lights up on the display [1]. The remaining time of the timer is shown on
the display [1] for timer 1 [39] and/or timer 2 [25]. If the remaining time is over 4 minutes, it will be
displayed in HH: MM and under 4 minutes in MM: SS.
The timer beeps when it reaches 30, 15, 10 and 5 seconds.
After the timer expires, an alarm will sound with increasing volume. Press the TIMER control [5] to
switch off the alarm. Indicator T1 [38] or T2 [26] goes out.
To cancel a timer prematurely, briefly press the T1 [15] or T2 [16] button twice. Indicator T1 [38] or
T2 [26] goes out.
In radio and standby mode, the current year is displayed for about 5 seconds by briefly
pressing the TIMER control [5].
8.12 Adjusting the display brightness
You can adjust the display brightness in three levels. Proceed as follows:
Press the DIMMER button [11] to switch the display brightness (dark, medium, and bright).
If the DT (display timeout) function [33] is activated, the display [1] is dimmed to dark
between 11 pm and 5 am. Further information on this function can be found in chapter
”8.17 Manual settings”.
8.13 Switching the light on and off
The light [21] on the bottom side of the kitchen radio can be switched on or off by briefly pressing the
/ ST/MO button [8].
If you forget to switch off the light [21], it automatically switches off after about 2 hours.
