The system has 2 different search modes:
1) Quick search: it limits antenna rotation to just 120°
and allows very fast location of the satellite. This also
limits the drain on the battery. If this mode is chosen it
is, first of all, necessary to place the antenna with the
front facing SOUTH (where all satellites are located).
Use the compass function in the TELECO App.
2) Full Search: in this case the antenna makes 360°
sweeps and therefore takes longer to locate the satellite.
However, use of the compass is not required.
ActivSat Smart installation
The ActivSat Smart is a Portable Automatic Satellite Antenna. Installed on a mobile
tripod, it can easily be positioned on a meadow or beach while your caravan or
motorhome remains parked in the shade of the trees as far as 15 metres away.
To speed up the satellite search choose a surface that is as flat as possible where
the view to the South (i.e. where satellite signals come from) is free from any nearby
obstacles (trees, houses, etc.). This ensures the antenna has unobstructed reception
of signals from the satellite. The SOUTH can easily be located by using the compass
function included in the TELECO App on your Smartphone.

Installing the tripod
The tripod already has the ActivSat Smart Motor fitted on the top of the central pole.
Loosen the clamp and extend the tripod legs as much as possible to position it
stably on the ground. Use the spirit level on the motor unit to check that the antenna
is level, then tighten the clamp. However, it does not need to be perfectly level as
the automatic system can compensate for error.

LNB rotation for ideal reception in Europe’s extreme
(South-West or South-East) areas
Remember that the outside converter (a.k.a. LNB) has its own assembly position which must
be complied with. Otherwise you will not receive any signal. The pre-set mounting position
for the LNB is along the centre line of the disk (fig. A). With this configuration, the ActivSat
Smart system works correctly in most European countries. However, if you are in areas very
far from the satellite orbital position, it might be necessary to adjust the converter angle. In
particular, if you wish to receive transmissions from the satellites Astra 19E, Astra 28E or
HotBird 13E, while you find yourself in Portugal or Morocco, your converter angle should be
adjusted as shown in (fig. B), while if you are in Turkey, to receive the same satellites you
should set your converter to the position (fig. C).

ActivSat Smart operation
Satellite search
Press the SAT (2) key. The display shows the name of the last satellite selected and
the SAT LED (2) flashes.
Just wait a few seconds and the antenna will begin its search. The display alternates
the name of the selected satellite and an animation of the antenna in search mode.
Note: alternatively, you can start searching for the satellite with the Teleco app on
your smartphone or switch on the receiver or TV with incorporated receiver coupled
to the control unit “RECEIVER” connector (see “Receiver/TV control Smart )” in the
“Advanced Functions” section).
If, instead, you wish to point the antenna at a satellite other than the one indicated
on the display, you must press the SAT key (2) repeatedly until the name of the
chosen satellite appears on the display. A few seconds later the antenna will start
a new search.
The antenna will stop moving as soon as it locates the satellite; in this case the
display shows the “SAT OK” message and the SAT LED (2) remains on (not flashing).
At this point you can turn on the TV or satellite receiver and watch the desired
programme. A few seconds after locating the satellite, the control unit goes to
energy saving mode and switches off all the LEDs.
Note: every time a search is made the antenna automatically saves the coordinates
of each successfully located satellite; this reduces waiting times if switching from
one satellite to another.
When the antenna is parked the azimuth coordinates are deleted but the elevation
is saved; this shortens the search time the next time the system is used.
13
ALARM
If the unit is in anti-theft mode, when parking has
been completed the red ALARM LED (5) starts
flashing rapidly to indicate that the antenna can
now be disconnected:
you have 8 minutes to disconnect the motor cable
and coaxial cable from the control unit without the
alarm being triggered.
PS: if the antenna is not disconnected within 8
minutes of parking it, the control unit automatically
reverts to anti-theft mode
Disconnect the motor cable and the coaxial able from the control unit or external
socket.
Alarm
The alarm provides protection against theft of the motor unit or dish, which are
outside your caravan/motorhome.
If the motor cable or coaxial cable is cut or disconnected, the control unit triggers
the loud warning BUZZER (8) and activates the external siren (optional, not supplied)
to warn of the attempted theft.
Anti-theft mode is activated and deactivated via the ALARM key (5).
The ALARM LED flashes briefly every 4 seconds when anti-theft mode is on and
remains off when the mode is off.
Stowing the antenna
To simplify antenna stowage it is recommended that you bring it to the parking
position.
Press the PARK key (3) to control antenna parking. The antenna starts to be lowered
and the display shows an animation of the antenna closing.
When the antenna has been
completely closed the display
reads "OK".
14
After disconnecting the control unit, remove the dish from the motor unit on the
tripod. Then unscrew coaxial cable connector F located under the side of the motor
unit, close the LNB arm, rotate the knob on the back of the dish bracket anticlockwise
and remove the dish. The dish can be stored in the special bag (optional).

Advanced functions
QUICK SEARCH
QUICK SEARCH limits the satellite sweep to just 120°. This reduces the satellite
search time and can cut battery usage by up to 70%.
To use QUICK SEARCH it is necessary to position the tripod so that the dish faces
SOUTH in the parking position.
To this end you can use the electronic compass included with the Teleco app, which
can be downloaded onto your iOS or Android smartphone free of charge.
When a Quick Search is in progress the QUICK SEARCH LED (4) is on.
Press the QUICK SEARCH key (4) to activate/deactivate Quick Search mode.
Receiver/(Smart)TV control
The advanced “Smart” function (patent pending) on your ActivSat Smart lets you
control the antenna directly via a TV with incorporated satellite receiver (or via the
receiver).
Starting an automatic search
Once the tripod has been positioned and the connections made, simply switch on
the TV to start the search for the last satellite to be located.
The factory settings have the automatic search start function enabled. It can be
disabled via the control unit menu or the Teleco App (which can be downloaded to
your iOS or Android smartphone free of charge).
Automatic satellite change
All the user has to do is select, via the TV remote control, the television programme
he/she wishes to watch and the ActivSat Smart will automatically point the antenna
at the satellite transmitting it.
This function is useful in countries where broadcasts are made by more than one
satellite. In this case, changing channel on the receiver automatically shifts the
antenna from one satellite to another.
The automatic satellite change function requires proper configuration of the ActivSat
Smart and the receiver (or TV with incorporated receiver).
Incorrect configuration could cause the ActivSat Smart to go to the wrong satellite,
making it impossible to view the desired TV programme. This is why, in the factory
settings, the automatic satellite change function is disabled.
17
Activating and configuring the Smart function when connected to official
broadcasters' receivers
TV broadcasters' official receivers are normally supplied ready for use with the
ActivSat Smart. Go to the ActivSat Smart control unit menu and modify the “Smart”
setting as per the following table:
SMART 1 - EU For official receivers of the following broadcasters: CanalDigitaal,
TV Vlaanderen, HD Austria, Skylink
SMART 2 - BL For official receivers of the following broadcasters:
TèlèSAT Belgium and Luxembourg
SMART 3 - CZ For official receivers of the following broadcasters: Hello Czech
SMART 4 – FR CH For official receivers of French and Swiss broadcasters
SMART 5 – NORTH For official receivers of Northern European broadcasters
(Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden)
In all other cases choose the configuration SMART 1 – EU.
Activating and configuring the Smart function when connected to generic
receivers
Go to the ActivSat Smart control unit menu and modify the “Smart” setting by
selecting the option SMART 1 – EU.
Find the "DiSEqC™" item (or similar) on the receiver menu.
It should be possible to choose from among the following options: 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2.
It is recommended you select the DiSEqC™ 1.1 or 1.2 option.
At this point you must assign an ID (from 1 to 16) to each satellite in use according
to the position of the satellite on the ActivSat Smart list.
For example, the first satellite on the ActivSat Smart list is Astra 19.2E so it is
recommended that you give Astra 19.2E a receiver ID of 1.
If you have any doubts about the DiSEqC™ configuration of your receiver please
contact your installer
Control via Smartphone
The ActivSat Smart control unit is equipped with a Bluetooth connection module
that lets you control the antenna and keep control unit software updated via mobile
devices such as smartphones, tablets, etc.
Bluetooth connection can be used in the immediate vicinity of the control unit (range
about 10 metres). The free Teleco app is available from the Apple AppStore and the
