3. TRANSPORT, HANDLING
AND STORAGE
3.1 Storage
During transport and storage, the automatic an-
tenna and its components are protected in two
cardboard packages, divided as follows:
A package containing just the dish (“Fig. 1”
- 2).
A package containing the remaining compo-
nents (external drive unit, control unit etc.).
Do not place weights on top of the
package containing the dish as doing
socouldcompromiseitsatnessand
integrity.
Do not turn the package upside down.
The correct position is indicated by the
‘this way up’ symbol printed on the pack-
aging(↑↑).
The packaged product must be stored horizon-
tally, in a roofed area that is protected from dust
and moisture.
The electrical equipment has been designed to
withstand shipping and storage temperatures
ranging from:
-20 °C to +40 °C.
- 11 -Rev.001 Flat Sat Easy BT
3.2 Handling
Observe accident prevention and
safety regulations during lifting and
transport.
Use lifting and transport equipment
with a capacity that is greater than the
load to be lifted.
The automatic antennas, complete with their
packaging, can be moved with standard lifting
and handling equipment.
4. INSTALLATION
4.1 Safety precautions
The power cable must come direct-
ly from the battery and must not
have any splices. Minimum cable
cross-section is 2.5 mm
2
.
For cables with a length of 6 m or
more the minimum cross-section is 4
mm
2
. Only the Flat Sat Easy BT must
be connected to this cable; all other
devices must be connected to anoth-
er power supply cable.
Cutting the cables supplied with the
Flat Sat Easy BT is strictly forbidden.
If a cable is too long it is advisable to
wind it into a coil in a free area of the
vehicle.
Leave a portion of cable in the exter-
nal drive unit area; if technical work
needs to be carried out, this will make
drive unit removal easier.
Failure to observe these instructions auto-
matically renders the Warranty null and void.
4.2 Preparing for installation
When opening packages it is impor-
tant to check the integrity of the com-
ponents.
Check that the dish (“Fig. 3” - 2) has not been
damaged during transport. Proceed as follows:
Place the edge of the dish against a at sur-
face (e.g. oor or wall) and check for proper
planarity.
If contact between the surface and the
edge of the dish is continuous then pla-
narity is correct (1).
- 12 - Rev.001Flat Sat Easy BT
The 3-way power connector (3) must
only be inserted in the “12/24 V DC”
socket on the control unit.
Inserting this connector in any other
socket will irreparably damage the
board and render the warranty null
and void.
3. Connect the BLACK cable (5) to the NEG-
ATIVE POLE (-) of the 12/24 V DC service
battery.
4. Connect the RED cable (6) to the POSITIVE
POLE (+).
Use two cables with a cross-section of
