IMPORTANT
The installation of this appliance must comply with all local regulations, including those referring to
National and European Standards before it can be operated. The stove is not suitable for a shared flue.
Improper adjustment, alteration, maintenance or the fitting of replacement parts not recommended
by the manufacturer can cause injury or property damage. Do not operate the appliance with faulty
seals or damaged glass.
Ensure all manuals are kept safely and are available for the user at all times.
Do not store or use petrol or other flammable vapours and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other
heating appliance. Do not use aerosol sprays near the stove when the stove is alight. Do not burn
anything but approved wood pellets on this appliance.
 Due to high operating temperatures of this appliance it should be located away from pedestrian traffic
and away from furniture and draperies. Do not store paper or wood near the appliance. Any mats and
rugs put in front of the stove should be fire proof and secured to prevent the possibility of tripping.
Advise all persons as to the stove’s high surface temperatures, including visitors. If it is possible for
children or infirm adults to come into contact with the appliance, fit a suitable fire guard. Never let
children “help” with the appliance in any way, even when the stove is cold.
It is imperative that all air passageways into, out of, and within the appliance are kept clean. All
permanent ventilation into the room provided for the stove must remain clear and unobstructed at all
times. Consideration must be given to the need for extra ventilation if another heating source needing
air is to be operated simultaneously. If an extraction fan is proposed to be fitted to a connecting
area of the house, after the stove has been installed, professional advice should sought from a
qualified engineer.
If a flue blockage or adverse weather conditions cause the appliance to emit smoke, do not treat it as
merely a nuisance, this smoke will indicate that carbon monoxide is being emitted into the room.
Properly installed, operated and maintained this appliance will not emit fumes into the dwelling.
WARNING: If fume emissions persist the following immediate action should be taken:
Turn the stove off, on the control panel, open windows to ventilate the room and leave the premises
and allow the appliance to go out before closing the windows. Do not re-light the stove without
consulting a qualified engineer.
Your installing engineer should have fitted a CO alarm in the same room as the stove. If the alarm
sounds unexpectedly, follow the instructions in the above paragraph.
In the event of a chimney fire the stove should be turned to off and the fire brigade informed.
Do not re-light the stove until the complete installation has been inspected by a qualified
engineer.
The appliance should be inspected and cleaned regularly and the chimney cleaned at least annually.
More frequent cleaning may be required and the advice of a qualified chimney sweep should be
sought. Always check for any flue blockage before lighting the appliance after a prolonged shut down.
This appliance has been carefully designed and constructed to give clean burning with optimum efficiency
and safety, but as with all heating appliances these standards will not be achieved unless it is installed and
maintained regularly by qualified engineers. It must also be operated strictly with the procedures given in this
manual.

This operating manual offers user information for the Evo Aqua 9 and 15 kW pellet stoves.
Model Identification
You will see on the front page of this document a label which confirms which model you have. This label also
advises you of the stoves unique serial number. This information is also attached to your stove for reference.
Important
Please ensure the warranty registration form is returned to Euroheat. In this way the model and its history will
be recorded for reference in the future.

Functional Description and Technical Features
The EVO AQUA is an appliance designed to be fired specifically
by wood pellets (must comply with EN Plus). This appliance is
a boiler (central heating).
Heat energy is transferred via the stove surface (the majority
of radiant heat arises via the inspection window) to the room
and via the water heat exchanger to the heat dissipation
system. For example, hot water is “produced” and the heat is
dissipated via this medium to the buffer cylinder.
In heating mode, you can switch on the boiler and select the
required boiler output or temperature; the system can be
switched on or off automatically or the necessary output stage
can be adjusted automatically via external control units.
The comb grate is cleaned automatically when the system
starts up either manually or automatically. The wood pellets
are conveyed to the combustion chamber via an ascending
worm screw (with an intermediate rotary valve as burn-back
protection) and ignited by electrical ignition devices.
The screw conveyor delivers pellets automatically. The oxygen
necessary for combustion flows into the combustion chamber
in a controlled manner. The combustion gases burn out in the
combustion chamber and the downstream flue gas ducts, the
heat being released via heat exchanger surfaces. A suction
fan (which may generate some noise at high and low control
settings), adjusted to the fuel quantity and the necessary combustion air, ensures a stable vacuum in the boiler
and transports the flue gases safely to the flue.
The necessary air quantity is controlled via the combustion temperature.
System Requirements
The stove is always combined with other devices and therefore have specific system requirements to ensure
trouble-free operation. A number of very important requirements are described in detail in the following
paragraphs.
In the preliminary stages a well-thought-out installation plan should be drawn up by a qualified installer or
heating engineer, so that individual system components can be adapted to each other and the required overall
solution achieved.
Hydraulic balancing of the system as a whole is essential for correct operation.
Application Possibilities
- as a main heating system: Operation as central heating appliance in low-energy and single-family homes
including water heating.
- as an additional heating system: Operation in addition to other heat sources.
This distinction is important when designing the system and selecting components (solar system, buffer
cylinder, etc.). Make sure you observe the information in the assembly instructions.

As a general rule, a heat load calculation must be performed by the qualified heating engineer for every boiler
installation location.
Experience shows that a heating system is operated at rated load for a total of approx. 1800 hours during a
heating season (total rated load and partial load hours added together).
E.g.: EVO 9: rated output 10 kW * 1800 h = 18,000 kWh per year; pellet calorific value approx. 4.8 kWh/kg
Pellets required per year approx. 18,000 kWh / 4.8 kWh/kg = 3750 kg
Note: Domestic Water Heating in Summer Operation
The EVO AQUA is distinguished by an especially low radiation output in the living room and by a very good air
to water capacity (9 kW: approx. 13:87%; 15 kW: approx. 10:90%). However, as the radiation output cannot be
entirely avoided for physical reasons, domestic water heating during the summer months can lead to undesirable
heating of the installation location. If this heating is not required, we recommend combined operation with
alternative domestic water heating systems (e.g. solar, immersion heater).Your heating specialist will be happy
to advise you.
Note: Heating Surfaces/Radiators in the Installation Room
In transitional heating periods (spring, autumn), when using in combination with additional heat sources (e.g.
solar system with buffer cylinder), it is possible that the heating appliance may not operate as sufficient heat
is supplied by the additional heat source.
If there are no heating surfaces (e.g. radiators) in the installation room, the room would not be heated in this
case. For this reason, make sure that there is always a corresponding heating surface in the installation room.
Water System, Output Consumption
Heating requirements must ensure that the appliance operates for 1.5 to 2 hours at least 50% of the rated
output per combustion cycle.
Room and Ambient Temperatures/Humidity
The system is designed for operation in living rooms with normal humidity and ambient temperatures of +5°C
to +40°C.
At room temperatures below 5°C, suitable frost protection must be provided in the water circuit.
The system is not splashproof and must not be installed in wet rooms.
Flue Connection
It is imperative that the appliance is connected to a flue suitable for solid fuels. The flue draught must always
be between a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 15 Pa. If the flue draught is too high (>15 Pa), we recommend
fitting a draught regulator.
Combustion Air Supply
a) The appliance operates as an open flue system. An adequate combustion air supply is essential.
b) It is possible to fit an external combustion air supply to the EVO AQUA during installation or at a later date.
i.e. all the combustion air is drawn from outside of the building.
Pellet Quality
Wood pellets are 100% wood residues in their natural state (wood shavings, sawdust, etc.). Dry wood residues
are chopped up and compacted to form wood pellets. Pellet quality is defined by EN Plus.
In practice: 2 kilograms of wood pellets correspond to approximately one litre of heating oil . Wood pellets must
be transported and stored completely dry. If they come into contact with moisture, pellets swell up considerably
as wood is hygroscopic (i.e. it constantly exchanges humidity with the environment).

Only pellets produced to ENplus standard are suitable for this appliance.
How can you recognise good quality wood pellets?
Good quality: the surface looks smooth with a semi-matt sheen, pellets of equal
length, no dust.
Lower quality: longitudinal cracks, high proportion of extremely long or short pellets,
high dust content.
How can we check the compaction quality of the pellets quickly and approximately?
Put a handful of pellets into a glass of water.
Good quality: pellets sink; due to their high density compared with water.
Lower quality: pellets float; due to their low density compared with water.
Return Flow Temperature Control
A return flow temperature control is essential.The return flow temperature must be at least 55°C at the appliance
return flow connection (optimum value 60°C), otherwise soot and tar formation, with resulting corrosion, can
occur. Euroheat offer special connection assemblies for this purpose which can be positioned inside or outside
the boiler. Details can be found in the separate installation instructions.
Buffer Cylinder/Accumulator
A buffer cylinder/accumulator is essential for efficient operation of this appliance. By using a buffer cylinder/
accumulator, the boiler can always be operated in the optimum output range, thus minimising consumption
and pollutant emissions. This also extends the service life of the system and wearing parts. The minimum size
of the cylinder should be 9kW Evo Aqua 400L/15kW Evo Aqua 500L.
Buffer Sensors
We recommend installation with buffer sensors. The stoves operation is controlled via these sensors, one sensor
is mounted in the buffer top and one at the bottom. When the top sensor drops below a preset temperature,
normally 60°C, the stove starts to operate. When the lower sensor reaches a pre set temperature, normally
65°C, the stove stops operating.
Cleaning, Maintenance and Servicing
This appliance is a wood-fired boiler. Ash and soot accumulate when solid fuel is burnt, which means that
periodic cleaning and servicing is essential. If this is not carried out, faults can arise for which we cannot accept
any liability. Only a clean and correctly adjusted boiler is an efficient boiler. A coating of only 1 mm of dust on
the heat exchanger surfaces increases fuel consumption by approximately 7%.
Mains Voltage/Power Supply
230 VAC/50 Hz. Voltage fluctuations from -15% to +10% are admissible.
Visionconvey AIR Pellet Conveying System for EVO AQUA (suction conveying system)
The EVO AQUA boiler can be equipped or retrofitted with an automatic pellet conveying system which avoids
the need to top up the inbuilt hopper with pellets manually.
The design of the storage room, assembly and operation of this system are described in the separate technical
documentation accompanying the discharge system.

Prior to First Lighting
Prior to lighting all connections (water,flue pipe and electrical) in the system must be checked. If the system is
cold, the system pressure must be at least 1.5 to max. 2 bar.
Before operation boilers must always be filled with water and connected to the heating system. Safety devices
must not be bypassed, sealed off or removed and must be ready to operate.
Always keep the combustion chamber door closed, even when cold.
When handling the system, always use the supplied heat-resistant glove.
Ensure that there are no objects in the combustion space or combustion chamber.
Pellets (min. 5 kg) may only be admitted to the storage tank after full installation according to the assembly
and installation instructions.
All steel and cast parts are painted with highly heat-resistant paint.
On initial heating the paint dries out, which may cause a temporary increase in the development of odours
and fumes.
Please note the following points:
No individuals or pets should be present in the room.
Ensure the room is well ventilated, so that the fumes can escape unhindered.
During the hardening period the paint is soft. To avoid damaging painted surfaces, do not touch.
The paint will harden during operation.
Operating Modes
The boiler can be operated in two different operating modes: boiler mode and heating stage/buffer mode. The
two operating modes are adjusted from the basic level of the control system.
Boiler Mode
Boiler mode is stored as a standard mode in the control system and is used until the operator specifically
changes to stove mode. In this operating mode the boiler adjusts its heating output according to pre-defined
control variables according to requirements, e.g. via the weather-dependent control unit, a room thermostat,
etc.
Heating Stage/Buffer Mode
In this operating mode the boiler operates with a fixed output stage (output stages are defined with the letter
H, e.g.: H 70 = 70% of rated output) which is adjusted individually by the customer. This output control is
continued until the customer returns to boiler mode.
An inbuilt safety device guarantees that the boiler switches off if the maximum temperature is exceeded. (This
can occur if you have selected a high output stage and the system can’t take any more power).
Once the boiler has cooled down, it starts again automatically with the selected output stage.

Operation and Heating Mode
General
The boiler is operated or controlled via the control unit installed on the
left side of the boiler casing.
The control unit has a two-line display which is used to read off the boiler
data in a number of menu levels.
There are four buttons for operating the unit.

the following pictures show the sub-menus from the basic menu. A description of the key functions is then
provided.

Operating Mode Sub-Menu (see Menu Tree, Page 10)
It is possible to switch between boiler mode and heating stage/buffer mode in this menu.
Boiler Mode:
The appliance tries to reach and maintain a pre-defined set temperature (see Setup sub-menu). When or
shortly before this temperature is reached, the control system begins to reduce the output power, i.e. the boiler
modulates its output.
Heating Stage/Buffer Mode:
In heating stage/buffer mode, control system modulation is switched off and the boiler operates at a fixed,
pre-defined output stage. The boiler must, of course, be able to dissipate the output in question. Otherwise the
appliance overheats and goes into fault mode.
Setup Sub-Menu (see Menu Tree, Page 11)
Basic settings can be made in this menu.
Temperatures
Boiler set temperature: the temperature at which the control system operates in boiler mode.
Heating output: the output power used for heating in heating stage mode.
Buffer top On: with a buffer cylinder: the temperature at which the appliance switches on.
Buffer lower Off: with a buffer cylinder: the temperature at which the appliance switches off.
Date/Time
You can set the current time in this menu item.

Operation of Combustion Chamber Doors and Pellet Storage Cover
Operation of Combustion Chamber Door
Use the supplied door handle (metal bracket) to open and close the
combustion chamber door.
To open the door, pass the door handle into the hole for the concealed
lock mechanism to the right behind the glass. You can open the door by
turning it upwards.
To lock the door, close the door and press the lock mechanism downwards
again.
Operation of Ash Door
You have to open the combustion chamber door before you can access
the ash door lock mechanism.
Use the supplied door handle (metal bracket) to open and close the
ash door (lock mechanism at the top of the door). You can open the
door by turning it to the left.
To lock the door, close the door and press the lock mechanism to the
right.
Then close the combustion chamber door again.
Operation of Pellet Storage Tank Cover
To open the pellet storage tank cover, pull the recess in the cover. The
back of the tank cover opens.
After filling, make sure that the cover is closed properly, as
otherwise the appliance will report a fault and shut down.

STB Safety Cut Out/Fuse Replacement
STB Safety Cut Out
The safety cut out (STB) is a thermoelectric fuse which interrupts the power supply to parts of the boiler if an
excessive temperature is recorded by the sensor. Design the entire system such that the temperature in the
boiler remains below 85°C as otherwise the safety cut out will be tripped.
Resetting the Safety Cut Out (STB):
Unscrew the plastic cap on the back of the boiler. Press with a small object
(e.g. a pen) on the inner button until you hear a click. Screw the cap back
onto the safety cut out.
Replacing the Fuse
The appliance is protected by a 2.5 A inert glass tube fuse (commercially
available).
To change the fuse, take a screwdriver and open the fuse holder, then
pull out the holder. After replacing the fuse, refit the fuse holder in the
appliance.
The fuse may only be changed with the appliance switched off and after
removing the mains plug for the boiler and suction conveying system
(see picture for fuse position).
