3. Safety information
WARNING!
Failure to comply with the documentation could
result in life-threatening danger!
Be sure to follow all the safety instructions in this docu-
ment.
3.1 Warranty
The function and safety of the equipment is only guaranteed
if the warning and safety instructions included in these
operating instructions are adhered to.
The manufacturer is not liable for personal injury or damage
to property if these occur as a result of the warnings and
safety advice being disregarded.
The manufacturer does not accept any liability or warranty
for damage due to the use of non-approved spare parts and
accessories.
3.2 Use for the intended purpose
The uninterruptible power supply UPS is designed for
operation with standard roller and sectional door drives and
serves as a self-sufcient energy supply. With this, the door
system can also be opened and closed in the event of a
power failure.
3.3 Target group
Only qualied and trained electricians may connect,
programme and service the control.
Qualied and trained electricians must meet the following
requirements:
knowledge of the general and specic safety and accident
prevention regulations.
knowledge of the relevant electrical regulations,
training in the use and care of appropriate safety
equipment.
capable of recognising the dangers associated with
electricity.
3.4 Instructions regarding installation and
connection
The control is designed with X type terminals.
The system must be disconnected from the electricity supply
before carrying out any electrical work. It must be ensured
that the electricity supply remains disconnected for the
duration of the work.
Local protective regulations must be complied with.
Consult the manufacturer before carrying out modications
or replacing the mains connection cable.
3.5 Information concerning operation
Unauthorised persons (particularly children) should not be
allowed to play with permanently installed adjusting or
control devices.
Keep remote controls beyond the reach of children.
Observe the valid standards and regulations!
3.6 Safety instructions for accumulators
The UPS systems contain a varying number of accumulators
with different energy levels, depending on the power output.
Although the accumulators are maintenance-free, it is
necessary to consider a number of points with regards to
storage, charging and use.
Service life
The accumulators used in our UPS systems are designed for
a service life of 5 years. However, the service life is decisively
inuenced by
the ambient temperature
the type of charge
the type of use
Ambient temperature
The ambient temperature must lie within a range of +1°C
to +27°C. Upward and downward deviations from this
temperature result in a signicant reduction in the service life.
Charge
The UPS system is delivered charged. However, the
accumulator must be fully charged before using for the rst
time for safety reasons.
Use
The UPS system can and should be connected and switched
on as a general rule, in order that the accumulators are
being constantly charged (trickle charging). During extended
breaks between use (storage without mains connection),
the accumulators must be repeatedly recharged on a regular
basis.
With UPS systems with 100 - 4000 VA output every
3months
With UPS systems with 5000 - 7500 VA output every
2months

4. Product information
4.1 Information about the product
The UPS battery management systems are to be exclusively
used for the control of compatible drives and control systems
in dry areas.
The UPS battery management systems may only be used to
power equipment that do not exceed the manufacturer’s
given maximum values.
The installer and the user must ensure that all applicable legal
and ofcial requirements regarding the use of the products, in
particular the current EMC guideline concerning installation
and operation, are observed.
4.2 Installation
Information:
The mains cable must not be exchanged with the output
cable.
The neutral conductor (N) and the outer conductor (L)
on the input side must not be connected to the neutral
conductor (N) and the outer conductor (L) on the output
side.
For three-phase current, a clockwise rotating eld is
required.
The cable for the door control must always be 3-wire or
5-wire at 1x230 or 3x400V.
Connection:
Plug the supply line (A) into the socket of the on-site power
supply.
Plug the control system’s supply line into the appropriate
socket (B)
Switch the battery management system to the ON position
with the key switch (C)
Fix the casing with plugs and screws in the desired position.
The mounting holes are located in the back wall of the
cabinet.
Meaning of signals and buttons:
BAT / POWER = battery OK
ON = battery management system is switched on
UPS = battery operation mode (power failure)
ON = switch on
OFF = switch off
Fault message
If the accumulators of the UPS system are defective, the
yellow diagnostic LED (100-4000 VA) or blue diagnostic LED
(5000-7500 VA) goes out and an acoustic warning signal
sounds. If the output voltage of the accumulators lies below
a dened value, this is also detected as a fault and is only
signalled with an acoustic warning. The emergency operation
may not function faultlessly in this case. Operation of the
UPS system with an accumulator that has been reported as
defective is not permissible. The UPS system must be replaced
immediately in this case.
Maintenance
During maintenance of the complete door system, it is
necessary to test the function of the UPS. Defective UPS
systems must be replaced immediately. UPS systems that have
exceeded their service life must also be replaced immediately.
In order to guarantee faultless operation on a continuous
basis, it is essential that the UPS system be replaced after
5 years in operation. In the event of any violation of these
maintenance instructions, it is not possible to guarantee the
functional safety of the system and therefore also the safety
of buildings and persons.
