Connect the Network and Power Source
UsePoweroverEthernet(PoE)fornetworkandpowersource
connectionsunlessotherwisedirectedbyyoursystemadministrator.
NOTE:TheACpoweradapterisaseparate,optionalaccessory.Yoursystem
administratorwillprovideonetoyouifnecessary.
AC Power Option
Connectthesuppliednetwork
cablebetweentheLANjackon
thephoneandtheLANporton
thewallorhub/switchdevice
port.ConnecttheDCplugonthe
ACwalladaptertotheDCjack
markedonthephone.
In-Line Power Option

Connect the Handset and Optional Headset
1. Connecttheshortstraightendofthephonecordtothe
handset,andthecorrespondinglongerstraightendofthe
cordtothehandsetjackonthebackofthephone.
2. Connecttheheadset(optional)totheheadsetjackontheside
ofthephone.
Attach the Base
1. Placeallcordsintherecessedareaabovethemodularjacksin
thefirstexampleabove.
2. Alignthetwoprotrusionsontheonthebracketwiththeir
correspondingholesinthephoneandsnapthemtogetherto
lockthebasetothephone.

YoucancustomizeyourSoundPointIP601phonebyadjustingthe
settingsfortimeanddate,displaycontrast,ringtype,etc.Youcan
alsoaddcontactstothephone’sdirectorymanuallyorfromcalllists.
YoucanconfigurebasicsettingsbypressingtheMenubuttonand
thenselectingSettings>Basic.
Appearance of Date/Time
Youcanconfigurehowthedate/timeappearsonthedisplay.The
displayflashesifthephonecannotobtainatimeanddatefroma
configuredSNTPserver.Contactyoursystemadministratorifthe
date/timeisincorrect.

Headset Memory Mode

3. UsetheupordownarrowsandSelectsoftkeytoenable
HeadsetMemoryMode.
4. PressMenutoreturntothemainmenu.

Youcanselectfromdifferentringtypestodistinguishbetweenlines
ortohaveadifferentringfromacoworkercloseby.
1. PresstheMenubutton.
2. SelectSettings>Basic>RingType.
3. Selectthelineyouwanttochangeusingtheupordownarrow
keysifmultiplelinesareconfiguredonyourphone,if
applicable.
4. Usetheupordownarrowkeystoselecttheringtypeyou
want.
5. PressthePlaysoftkeytoheartheringtype,ifapplicable.
6. PresstheSelectsoftkey.
7. PressMenuortheExitsoftkeytotheidledisplay.
Directory Search
YoucanconfigurehowthesearchoftheContactDirectoryis
performed.Youcansearchbyfirstnameorlastname.

5. UsethedialpadfortoenterthefirstfewcharactersforFirst
orLastnames.
6. PressSearch.Successfulmatchescanbedialedfromthe

knownasplaced)callsaremaintainedbythephone(upto100for
eachlist).

4. Enterthefirstand/orlastnameusingthekeypad.
5. Enterthecontactnumber.Thisisarequiredfieldanditmust
beunique.
Search
FromtheContactDirectory:
1. PresstheMoresoftkey.
2. PresstheSearchsoftkey.
3. UsethedialpadtoenterthefirstfewcharactersforFirstor
Lastnames.
4. PresstheSearchsoftkey.Successfulmatchescanbedialed
fromtheresults.
Speed Dial
Preassignednumberscanbeassociatedwithlinekeysforrapid
automateddialing.Speeddialentriesareconsecutivelyplacednextto
assignedlinekeysonthephone.

Answer a Call

NOTE:IncomingcallscanbeignoredbypressingtheRejectsoftkeyortheDo
NotDisturbbutton.DoNotDisturbremainsactivewhenthecallis
dropped.Youmusttoggleitofftodisableit.

2. PresstheResumesoftkeyorthelinebuttontoretrievethe
call.
NOTE:Callsonholdmaygeneratemusic,sobecarefulifyouareonaconference
call.
Multiple Calls on Hold
Youcanusethearrowkeystoswitchbetweencalls,thenpressthe
Resumesoftkeytoretrieveacallwhenmultiplecallsareonholdona
singleline.Anindicatorappearsonthedisplayifmorethantwocalls
areonholdonasinglekey.Forexample,“2/3”showsthatthisisthe
secondcalloutofthreecalls.
Thedetailsofcallsonanylinekeycanviewedbypressingthatline
keyandholdingitdownforafewsecondsifcallsareonholdonmore
thanoneline.Ifalinekeyispressedbriefly,thefirstcallonholdon
thatlineisretrieved.
Mute
Duringacall,press .TheMessageWaitingIndicator(MWI)turns
redandamicrophoneonthegraphicdisplayindicatesthattheother
party(orparties)cannothearyou.

MicrophoneMuteappliestoallmodes:handset,headset,andhands
freespeakerphone.Youcanstillhearallotherpartieswhilemuteis
enabled.


Press toadjustthereceivervolumeduringacall.

1. PresstheTransferbuttonduringacall.Theactivecallis
placedonhold.

PresstheTrnsfersoftkeyduringacall.Theactivecallisplaced
onhold.
2. PresstheBlindsoftkeyifyouwanttoperformablindtransfer
(withoutinformingthepartytowhomyouaretransferring).
3. Dialthenumbertowhichyouwanttotransferthecall,oruse
thearrowkeystoaccessspeeddialnumbers,missed,placed,
orreceivedcalllists.
4. PresstheDialsoftkey.
5. PresstheTransferbuttonortheTrnsfersoftkeyagain.
Call Forward
Youcanforwardcallstoanotherextensioninyourlocation.
1. PresstheForwardsoftkeyfromthephone’sidledisplay
(selectwhichlinetoforwardofmultiplelinesareinuse).
2. EnterthenumberorURLtowhichyouwanttoforwardthe

thephone.Dependingonhowyourphoneisconfigured,thedisplay
wouldresembleoneoftheexamplesbelow:

Eachlineonthephonecanbeconfiguredtohavemorethanoneline
keyassociatedwithit.Inthiscase,thedisplaywouldlooklikethe
examplebelow.

Morethanonecallappearanceisusefulif

Shared Lines
Asharedlineisindicatedbyadifferentlineicon.Inthefollowing
example,thefirstlineisprivateandthesecondlineisshared.An
incomingcalltothatnumbercausesbothphonestoringiftwo
phonessharealine.Thecallcanbeansweredoneitherphone,but
notboth.Ifasharedlineisinuseononeofthephones,itcannotbe
usedontheotherone.Thesharedlineiconchangestoamovingicon,
andthelineLEDturnsredwhenitisinuseremotely.Callsonshared
linescanbetransferred,putonhold,oraddedtoaconference.
Voice Mail
ReceivedmessagesareindicatedbyaashingMessageWaiting
Indicator(MWI)onthefrontofthephone.Individuallineindicators
reectvoiceortextmessagesleftonthatline(usefulifmultiplelines
areinuse).Astutterdialtoneinplaceofanormaldialtonealso
indicatesthatoneormorevoicemessagesareinyourmessage
center.
Listen to Messages
1. PresstheMessagesbutton.
2. PresstheMessageCentersoftkey.
3. Selectthelineyouwanttoretrievemessagesfromifmultiple
linesareinuse.Thedisplayindicatesthenumberofmessages
andtheirimportance.
4. PresstheConnectsoftkeytoretrievemessages.
