your-bird-box-just-right
Keep it well away from bird feeders
Other visiting birds could disturb the
nesting birds.
Place the box up to 3 metres above the ground
Attach your bird box to a tree, shed or
garden wall.
Ensure predators cannot get to the box
Make sure common garden predators, such
as cats or squirrels, cannot get near the box.
Shelter it from the weather
The box must face away from strong sunlight
and winds. To stop rain entering, angle the box
vertically or slightly downwards.
How to mount your camera into your box
It’s best to mount the camera inside the box
and make sure it is working before installing
the box. Our bird boxes are designed to make
camera installation as easy as possible.
1. For easy access remove the front panel
by unscrewing the screws (Fig. 1).
2. On the upper face of the box, there is a
pre-drilled 6mm hole. Most of our cameras
include a 5mm machine bolt to secure the
bracket to the box. Push this through the
hole in the back of the box and screw into
the threaded hole on the camera bracket
to securely fasten it (Fig. 2).
3. Route trailing cables through the specially
designed air vents just below the roof on each
side of the box.
4. Don’t screw the front panel back on until
the box is mounted up and you are happy
with the angle of the camera.
How to mount your bird box
The box has two holes drilled into the back,
ready for mounting on any surface. You need
to use appropriate xings (not included) for
the type of material you are mounting the
box against.
We recommend using stainless steel
screws and washers, rather than nails,
that won’t rust.
If you’re tting your box to a tree it’s
really important to check its position
every couple of years - as the tree grows it
could damage your box. Otherwise you can
attach the box over a branch or around the
trunk of a tree using galvanised wire.
How to improve images in your bird box
If your camera shows black and white images
during the day it means it’s not getting enough
light and has switched to night vision mode.
To illuminate the inside of your box without
disturbing the birds you can install our daylight
LED lamp.
The lamp features a light sensor so it
automatically switches off at night to ensure
the birds get a good night’s sleep. Attach
the lamp inside the roof of the box using the
included screws and feed the cable out of
the side of the box.
Find the LED lamp on our website
– search BBLED3.
Top tip:
Make sure you mount the lamp in front
of the camera so that a shadow is not
cast on the bottom of the box.
