The following only applies to 2017+ vehicles equipped with an OEM rear camera.
In some compatible 2017+ vehicles, the system is equipped with an additional module called the “HMI Bypass
Module” which routes LVDS and camera images to the screen from the HMI. If equipped, the module is normally
located directly beneath the BCM (driver’s side under dash).
A quick easy way to test for the presence of the HMI Bypass Module:
h Access the OEM HMI unit (Please see Figure 7 in the FAQ section at the end of this document).
h Connect the provided NTV-HAR283 Harness in between the 12-pin plug at the HMI and the vehicle’s
12-pin connector, connect RCAs together.
h Start vehicle.
h Place Vehicle into reverse gear.
h With OEM reverse image on the screen, disconnect the RCAs in the NTV-HAR283 Harness.
h If the reverse image remains on the screen with the RCA disconnected, this vehicle is equipped with the
HMI Bypass Module. This means use “Caravan/Trailer Installation Schematic #2”.
h If when you disconnect the RCAs, you no longer have a reverse camera image, then please use
“Caravan/Trailer Installation Schematic #1”.

Q - When I install the Multimedia interface, there is no factory picture or aftermarket picture.
A. First check that the multimedia interface is receiving power and has an internal LED on. Also conrm that
dipswitch 10 is in the down position. If these are working as normal try the following.
B. On some vehicles the video needs to be intercepted at the HMI module due to data encryption.
Please try the following:
Leave the plug and play black Power & CAN-Bus
connector connected at the screen. Re-connect the
factory Video connector (mini usb type) to the factory
monitor.
Behind the glove box there should be a HMI module as
pictured (See gure 7), connect the video connectors to
the blue connector circled (See Figure 6).
(Please note: Location may be different depending on who
converted the vehicle)
If there is still no picture display, the video in and out
leads may need to be reversed at the multimedia
interface (See Figure: 8).
