SAFE APPLIANCE LOCATIONS
Thisapplianceshallonlybeusedinanabove
groundopen-airsituationwithnaturalventilation,
withoutstagnantareas,wheregasleakageand
products of combustion are rapidly dispersed by
windandnaturalconvection.
Any enclosure in which the appliance is used
shall comply with the following:
An enclosure with walls on all sides, but at least
onepermanentopeningatgroundlevelandno
overheadcover(seeExample1).
Within a partial enclosure that includes an
overheadcoverandnomorethantwowalls
(seeExample2&3).
Within a partial enclosure that includes an
overhead cover and more than two walls, the
following will apply:
atleast25%ofthetotalwallareaiscompletely
open,andatleast30%oftheremainingwallarea
isopenandunrestricted(seeExample4&5).
In the case of balconies, at least 20% of the
total wall area shall be and remain open and
unrestricted.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. Removelanternfromcartonandremoveany
transit protection material.
2. Thelanternmustbeplacedonastable
horizontal surface.
a. Theapplianceareamustbekeptclearand
free of combustible materials, gasoline and
otherflammablevapoursandliquids.
b. Gasorificesandburnermustbekept
clear of dirt and cobwebs. Flow of
combustionandventilationairthroughthe
perforated portions of the appliance must
not be obstructed.
c. Any cleaning agent used on the appliance
should be of a non-combustible and
non-corrosivenature.
3. Properclearancefromcombustiblematerials
must be maintained at all times. The minimum
clearancesareasfollows:

Combustible materials are considered to be
wood, compressed paper, plant fibres, plastic,
plexiglasorothermaterialscapableofbeing
ignited and burned.
Such materials shall be considered combustible
eventhoughflameproofed,fire-retardant
treated or plastered. Additional clearance may
be required for glass, painted surfaces and other
materials which may be damaged by radiant or
convectionheat.
4. Attach the lantern to the specified camping
cylinderandensurethatcontrolvalveisfully
closed.
TO ATTACH MANTLE
Tieorclipmantlesaroundgrooveinburnertube.
Distributefoldsonthemantleevenly.Cutoff
surplus string. Be careful that mantle does not
snag on electrodes and tear.
LIGHTING AND BURNING OFF MANTLE
Light the mantle with a lighted match with gas
turned on slightly. Allow the mantle to burn until
itstopsshrinkingthenopenthevalvefurther
untilthemantletakesitscorrectshape.Close
controlvalveandallowmantletocool,thenitis
readyforuse.NOTE:Themantleisnowvery
brittle and should not be touched.
RELIGHTING AND REGULATING
Once the mantle has been burned off, the lantern
can be relit by inserting a lighted match through
the lighting hole or pressing the piezo ignition
button (if equipped) while simultaneously opening
thecylindervalve.Whenmantleislit,turnknob
anti-clockwisetoincreaselightintensity,and
clockwisetodecreaseintensityorextinguish.
Donotopenvalvebeyondthepointwhere
maximumintensityisreachedasthismaycause
unnecessary flaring, and waste of gas.
REPLACING JETS
Ifthejetshouldbecomeblockedorneed
replacement,removethelanternconnector
assemblytowhichthejetisassembled.The
jetcannowberemoved.Toclearblockedjets
washinpetrol.Donotusewiresorprickers.
If
washingisunsuccessful,fitnewjet.When
refittingthejet,makesureitistight.
REPLACING MANTLE
Carefullyremovealltracesofoldmantle.Fitthe
new mantle by tying or clipping firmly into the
grooveoftheburnertubeandspreadevenlyall
around. The mantle can then be burned off as
describedpreviously.
ANNUAL MAINTENANCE
Clean the body of your appliance using a cotton
clothsoakedinsoapyhotwater.Neveruse
abrasiveorflammablecleaningproducts.Usea
soft brush to clean the burner.
STORAGE
When the appliance is not used it must be
stored in a suitable area to protect it from any
riskofdeterioration.Keepitinawellventilated
area and out of reach of children.
HANDY HINTS
a.Inspectthe“O”Ringandrubberwasher
regularly and replace if worn or damaged.
b. Neverconnectordisconnectthelantern
near an open flame.
c. CheckforgasleakswithSOAPYWATER.
DO NOT USE A FLAME.
d.
Ensure that the area in which the lantern is
tobeusediswellventilatedandDONOTuse
lanternasaspaceheaterintent,caravan,
etc.
e. Ensurethelanterniscompletelyextinguished
before disconnecting from the gas cylinder.
f. DONOTplacethelanterncloserthan60cm
from ceiling or flammable material.
g. Avoidmovingthelanternduringuseasthis
can cause large flames.
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
1. Alwayshaveasparesetofmantles.Once
burned, a mantle is fragile and can be
damaged if touched or dropped.
2.Ifyourlanternburnswithayellowsmokey
flame,checktheburnerandairtubefor
spider webs.
3.Thislanternconsumesair(oxygen).DONOT
USEinunventilatedareas.Ampleventilation
mustbeprovided.
4. Provideadditionalventilationforanyother
fuel burning appliances which may be
operating within the same enclosed area.
5. Neverallowtents,sleepingbags,oranyother
flammable material to come within 5 metres
of this appliance.
