CSS1000_CAN Function Block
Overview
This manual documents the CSS1000_CAN function block.
This function block configures the output of a Sauer-Danfoss CSS1000 Slope Sensor.
A CSS1000 Slope Sensor measures deviation from a gravity reference point. The sensor
outputs the x-axis and the y-axis deviation from this reference point either in degrees or in
percent slope.
Communication between the CSS1000 Slope Sensor and the CS1000 function is through
CAN.
See:
About Function Block Connections on page 7 for more about this function block’s
connections and signals.
Inputs
Function Block Inputs
Input Type Range Description
Para —— —— An input that you can use to apply common parameters from an external source to multiple function blocks.
See About the Para Input on page 10 for more about how to use this input.
CAN —— —— Receives CAN messages from the sensor.
Outputs
Function Block Outputs
Output Type Range Description
Status —— —— Outputs a bus that contains X_Axis_NA, Y_Axis_NA, X_Axis_Status, and Y_Axis_Status
signals.
X_Axis_NA BOOL —— T = The function block has not received any x-axis CAN messages since the controller powered
on.
F = The function block started receiving x-axis CAN messages when its controller powered on.
Y_Axis_NA BOOL —— T = The function block has not received any y-axis CAN messages since the controller powered
on.
F = The function block started receiving y-axis CAN messages when its controller powered on.

Function Block Outputs
Output Type Range Description
X_Axis_Status U8 —— 0x00 = The X-axis angle reported in CAN messages is within the sensor’s normal operating
range.
0x01 = The X-axis angle reported in CAN messages is outside of the sensor’s normal operating
range; the reported angle may not be valid.
Y_Axis_Status U8 —— 0x00 = The Y-axis angle reported in CAN messages is within the sensor’s normal operating
range.
0x01 = The Y-axis angle reported in CAN messages is outside of the sensor’s normal operating
range; the reported angle may not be valid.
Fault —— —— Outputs a bus that contains X_Axis_Flt, Y_Axis_Flt, and CSS1000_TimeOut signals.
X_Axis_Flt BOOL —— T= The sensor reports a fault with its x-axis hardware.
F = The sensor reports no faults with its x-axis hardware.
Y_Axis_Flt BOOL —— T= The sensor reports a fault with its y-axis hardware.
F = The sensor reports no faults with its y-axis hardware.
CSS1000_TimeOut BOOL —— T = The function block has not received any CAN messages for more than 250 ms.
F = The function block is normally receiving CAN messages.
Out —— —— Outputs a bus that with X_Degrees_Out_x100, Y_Degrees_Out_x100,
X_Pct_Slope_Out_x100, and Y_Pct_Slope_Out_x100 signals.
These signals output report deviation from a gravity reference point either in degrees or in
percent slope.
The value of the OutputMode parameter set inside the CSS1000 sensor sets the values received
by this function block.
You use the PLUS+1 GUIDE Service Tool program to set the CSS1000 sensor’s OutputMode
parameter value.
When you set the CSS1000 sensor’s OutputMode parameter value to 0, the function block’s:
X_Degrees_Out_x100 and Y_Degrees_Out_x100 signals report the sensor’s deviation from
a gravity reference point in degrees.
X_Pct_Slope_Out_x100 and Y_Pct_Slope_Out_x100 signals stay at zero.
When you set the CSS1000 sensor’s OutputMode parameter value to 1, the function block’s:
X_Pct_Slope_Out_x100 and Y_Pct_Slope_Out_x100 signals report the deviation from a
gravity reference point in percent slope.
X_Degrees_Out_x100 and Y_Degrees_Out_x100 signals stay at zero.
