XP5s Global User Guide - Australia SAR Addendum
RF EXPOSURE INFORMATION (SAR) This device meets the Australian government’s
requirements for exposure to radio waves. This device is designed and manufactured not to
exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy set by the Australian
Government. The exposure standard for wireless device employs a unit of measurement known
as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by the Australian Government
to be less than 2 W/kg of tissue averaged over ten (10) grams of tissue. *Tests for SAR
are conducted using standard operating positions according to “ACMA Human Exposure
Standard Radiocommunications (Electromagnetic Radiation – Human Exposure) Standard
2014”. Although the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR
level of the device while operating can be well below the maximum value. This is because the
device is designed to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the power required to
reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower
the power output.
The highest SAR value for the model device XP5800 when tested for use when worn
on the body is 1.867W/kg, and 0.697 W/kg when used near the head. While there may
be differences between the SAR levels of various devices and at various positions, all
measurements meet the Australian government’s requirements.
