Set-up guide
To enable UPnP playback from your Mac...
Unlike Windows computers, Macs do not currently have a built-in UPnP server. This means
that you must manually install UPnP server software on your Mac for it to serve music to
any UPnP clients (such as our Stream Magic players) on your network. Examples of UPnP
server software for Mac include the following;
Plex Media Server

Serviio

PlugPlayer
http://www.plugplayer.com
Universal Media Server

My Tunes RSS Server

XMBC

Please note that these links are to third party UPnP software providers, so for technical
assistance you will need to contact the UPnP software provider directly.
Once installed and configured on your Mac, the Stream Magic player will see the UPnP
server in its ‘Media/UPnP Servers’ menu and will be able to play back files from your Mac
computer.
Note: Your Mac will need to remain switched on and with the UPnP server program
running in order to stream music to the Stream Magic player.
This is one of the advantages of using a NAS drive; no computer is required to be switched
on. See our separate NAS setup guide for more information.
The example on the following pages shows how to install a UPnP server (Plex in this case) on
a Mac and stream music to the Stream Magic player.
