OverView D is now available with a 200W illumination unit on the XGA
models (OverView mDG and OverView cDG). The brightness is raised by
approximately 70% compared to the standard 120 W lamp model. A color
filter adjusts the color temperature to 3200K.

OverView DG - Illumination unit 200W and 3200K color filter
Background
O
VERVIEW D projection systems feature a color temperature of 6500K (daylight). In broadcast
application cameras are often adjusted to 3200K to match the lighting conditions produced by
electrically-generated tungsten light in the studios. This shift in color temperature processing
of the camera has impact on the picture of an
OVERVIEW D display wall: it will appear blue.
To put things right, also the display wall has to be adjusted to 3200K.
Therefore the 3200K color filter cartridge has been developed. This filter can be put in place
when required and ensures that cameras adjusted to 3200K record "normal daylight" when
recording the display wall.
However, using this filter the
light output is considerably
reduced:
it drops to about 58% of the
value achieved without filter.
The use of a 200W illumination
unit then compensates for the
loss in brightness.

Projection systems for backdrop applications
Since typically backdrop applications have low resolutions, the only systems to be equipped
with the 3200K filter cartridge and the new 200W dual lamp illumination unit are those with
XGA resolution, O
VERVIEW MDG50-DL and OVERVIEW CDG67-DL.
The 3200 K filter can be used in combination with 120 W illumination unit for best cost of
ownership or with the 200 W illumination unit for best luminance performance.

Illumination unit 200W
The illumination unit 200W has been especially designed for backdrop applications to
compensate the loss in brightness of the 3200K color filter.
Of course it can also be used without the 3200 K filter for applications that require very high
luminance values.
Please note:
The lamps have a nominal operation time of 2000 hours.
The current version of the 200W illumination unit has been designed for a mains voltage of
240V only!
3200 K color filter cartridge
Every XGA projection unit can be employed with the 3200K color
cartridge. Once installed, the color filter can be slid in or pulled
out the light path on demand. The system thus can be switched
between 6500K (filter pulled out, inactive) and
3200K (filter slid in, active).
Changing from active to inactive and vice versa only requires
removing of the shielding of the projection unit (5 screws) to
get access to the color filter cartridge.

Frequently asked questions
Question Answer
What is color temperature?
Color temperature stands for the spectral
properties of a light source.
Low color temperature implies warmer (more
yellow/red) light while high color temperature
implies a colder (more blue) light.
What is the color temperature of UHP
lamps?
The UHP lamp naturally has a rather ‘blue-ish
spectrum. The color temperature of the lamp
is normally 6500K or above (daylight) When
filtering out the blue portion (and to transmit
only the red one) the light output therefore is
considerably reduced.
Is the 3200 K option available for all
O
VERVIEW D illumination units
(100W, 120W, 200W)
The cartridge is mounted on the XGA
projection unit and therefore independent
from the illumination unit.
However, the 100W version is not supported.
Can I use 200 W without 3200 K?
The 200W illumination unit for OVERVIEW DG
systems is independent from the use of the
3200K color filter.
The brightness at 6500K will be around 70%
extra compared to 120W performance (at the
expense of lamp lifetime!)
Can I have 200W lamps with SXGA or
SXGA+ resolution
No: the 200W option is only available for XGA
resolution
Can I put 200 W lamps in the existing
100W or 120W illumination unit?
No: for the 200W lamps, the illumination unit
has been redesigned (enhanced cooling,
mechanical modifications due to the different
size of the 200W lamp module)
Can I put 120 W lamps in a 200 W
illumination unit?
No: lamps have different size
