Single Voltage Units: All single voltage ballast assem-
blies are completely wired so that user must connect
only supply conductors to electrical disconnect.
Multi-Volt Units: Multivolt units are not factory
connected for any voltage. Voltage selection must be made
inside ballast housing. To connect for desired voltage
proceed as follows;
CAUTION: Make the connections prior to installing
the unit.
• Remove captive socket cannister assembly by loosening
two nuts and rotating counter-clockwise to allow nuts to
pass through keyway slots.
• Connect black lead with insulated terminal to desired
voltage terminal on ballast as specified on label.
• Replace socket cannister assembly, being careful not to
pinch any leads, and tighten nuts to 30 inch pounds.
INSTALLATION
BALLAST ASSEMBLY
With locking nut free to slide up conduit, align ballast
assembly and mounting assembly so that support pads on
mounting hub will pass between support lugs on ballast
housing. Raise ballast assembly up over mounting hub
support pads and rotate clockwise until it drops securely
into seated position. Electrical connections will automati-
cally be made during assembly operation. Check for proper
engagement by trying to rotate ballast assembly counter-
clockwise while it is supported by mounting assembly.
After assuring that ballast assembly is properly seated,
screw locking nut onto hanger hub and FIRMLY
TIGHTEN until gasket is compressed against ballast
housing and sealing gland is compressed around support
conduit. Once locking nut is in position it should not be
possible to disconnect or rotate ballast assembly without
loosening nut again.
NOTE: It is recommended that, after final
installation, a thin layer of a silicone sealant
be added all around joint where the conduit
enters sealing gland as a further precaution
against water entering fixture.
LAMP INSTALLATION
Use only lamps specified on nameplate. Observe
lamp manufacturer’s recommendations and restrictions
on lamp operation, particularly ballast type, burning
position, etc.
Lamp Tightness – Mogul Base Lamp: The lamp should
be securely inserted to the NEMA-EEI specified torque of 35
inch-pounds, which is best achieved by very firmly
tightening to insure application of sufficient torque.
Tightening must be sufficient to fully depress and load
the center contact of the socket.
Lamp Tightness – Medium Base Lamp: The lamp
should be tightened to a light firmness sufficient to depress
the center contact.
OPTICAL INSTALLATION
GLASS GLOBE
Attach the globe by threading firmly into the bottom of
the ballast housing.
ACCESSORIES
External Reflector: Thread the reflector firmly onto the
bottom of the ballast housing. Tighten the set screw.
Globe Guard: Insert the protective guard into the ballast
housing and turn clockwise until retained by the detent.
OPTICAL INSTALLATION
REFLECTOR/LENS ASSEMBLY
Thread the reflector/lens assembly onto the bottom of
the ballast housing so that the gasket is compressed.
Tighten the set screw.
To relamp, loosen the set screw and unscrew the
complete optical assembly from the ballast housing.
FUSING
Fuses, if supplied, are located inside the ballast housing.
Access is through the socket cannister assembly opening.
Branch circuit fusing is recommended rather than
individual fusing. Individual fusing may cause unnecessary
maintenance and will not protect the lamp ballast.
MAINTENANCE
It will occasionally be necessary to clean the optical
assembly in order to maintain the light level. Frequency of
cleaning will depend on the dirt level in the user’s facility
and the minimum light level which is acceptable. The
optical assembly should be cleaned with any suitable
non-abrasive glass-cleaning solution, soap, or detergent,
and rinsed with clean water. The glassware may be cleaned
with any conventional glass cleanser. Use of abrasive
cleaners will shorten the life of any reflector surface.

CAUTION
Risk of burn
• Allow lamp/fixture to cool before
handling
