Section 1: Unpacking and Initial Setup

NOTE: Before removing any of the components, ensure that anti-static precautions

have been taken. The minimum requirement is an anti-static wrist strap and ground-

ing wire.

STEP 1. Remove all the components from the packaging and place on an anti-static

surface until you are ready to use them.

STEP 2. Install the disk drives, power supplies and advanced cooling modules into

the enclosure in the locations shown below (install rackmount enclosures in

rack before installing components):

SCSI ID Assignments

The SCSI ID’s for the ULTRAbloc Series enclosure are hard set and cannot be

changed in anyway. The ULTRAbloc Series enclosure has two modes of operation:

Single (Joined) SCSI bus mode (1x14), and Dual (Split) SCSI bus mode (1x7 and

1x7). The I/O Modules are set at ID 15 in all cases and SCSI ID 7 is reserved for

the host. The illustration below show how the SCSI ID’s are assigned.
