UNPACKING
When unpacking, make sure that item is intact and undamaged. If any parts are
missing or broken, call Harbor Freight Tools at the number on the cover of this manual.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Read the ENTIRE IMPORTANT SAFETY
INFORMATION section at the beginning of this
manual including all text under subheadings
therein before set up or use of this product.
Please note: Calipers with dials can jump
a setting. Always double-check a reading.
Make sure upper and lower Outside Diameter Jaw 1.
(2) faces are clean. See Fig. A.
Loosen Slide Scale Lock (6) by turning it 2.
counterclockwise.
Use Thumbroll (1) to close Outside Diameter Jaws (2).3.
Sliding Index Edge (7) should line up at “0.”4.
To adjust (if needed), loosen the Dial Adjustment Lock 5.
(3) by turning it counterclockwise.
Set the Dial (5) by turning the Dial Adjustment (4) either 6.
clockwise or counterclockwise until the Dial Needle
points to “0”.
Lock the Dial (5) on its “0” setting by tightening the Dial 7.
Adjustment Lock (3) clockwise. The Caliper is ready
to use.

To read the Scale and Dial, the Sliding Index Edge (7) features readings in inches 8.
(0.001” and 0.010” per call-out segment) See Figure B, below.
Read the Scale Measurement Point in inches and tenths of inches (such as 0.5”). 9.
Then read the Dial Needle on the Dial in thousandth of an inch (such as .081”).
Combine the two readings for a nal reading of “0.581.”10.
To use the Caliper to measure the outside diameter of an object, close the Out-11.
side Diameter Jaws (2) over the object, making sure that the item rests squarely
on the Jaws. See Figure C, below.
Make note of the value along the Sliding Index Edge (7). Then read the whole
number indicated by the dial arm. Finally, note the numbers of lines after the
whole number. For example, values 1.5, 30 and 3 will read as 1.5”, 0.030” and
0.003”, which equal 1.533”.

MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING

Cleaning, maintenance, and lubrication
BEFORE EACH USE,1. inspect the general condition of Caliper. Check for loose
screws, misalignment or binding of moving parts, cracked or broken parts, and
any other condition that may affect its safe operation.
AFTER USE,2. clean external surfaces of the product with clean cloth.
STORE3. in carrying case and keep in dry and secure location.
CAUTION
To use the Caliper to measure the inside diameter of an object, see 12. Figure D,
below.
To make a step measurement of an object, see 13. Figure E. To measure the depth

is free from defects in materials and workmanship for the period of one year from the
date of purchase (90 days if used by a professional contractor or if used as rental equip-
ment). This warranty does not apply to damage due directly or indirectly, to misuse,
abuse, negligence or accidents, repairs or alterations outside our facilities, normal wear
and tear, or to lack of maintenance. We shall in no event be liable for death, injuries
to persons or property, or for incidental, contingent, special or consequential damages
arising from the use of our product. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation
of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation of exclusion may not ap-
