This document provides information to help you get started with Cisco Physical Security Operations
Manager (PSOM). It includes these topics:|

Server Setup
Step 1 Mount the PSOM appliance on your server rack.
Step 2 Connect necessary cabling such as power and Ethernet cables.
Step 3 Turn on power to the system.
Step 4 When you see the Set Up Windows window, click Next.
Step 5 Enter your Windows product key.
The Windows product key is on a sticker that is included in your PSOM package.
Step 6 Accept the license agreement, and click Start.
Step 7 Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to log in.
Step 8 Click the Administrator user, and create a new password when prompted.
Note Do not reboot the system if asked to do so.
Step 9 If asked to activate Windows when on line, chose the Ask me later option.

PSOM Licensing
Step 10 Take these actions to Start the PSOM User Services Configuration Tool to reinstate the auto-login
procedure for the User Services user account:
a. Choose Start > All Programs > Cisco Physical Security Operations Manager Services.
b. Choose User Services Configuration.
c. Click Next in the series of windows until you see the Configure logging window.
d. In the Configure logging window, click Finish.
e. When the Apply changes? dialog box appears, click Apply changes and restart services.
Step 11 Reboot the server to apply changes.
Upon reboot, the system auto-logs in as the PXUSERSERVICEUSER account and initialize its settings.
Do not interrupt this process.
Step 12 After the log in completes, choose Start > Log Off.
Step 13 When you see a screen that prompts you to unlock the computer, press Ctrl-Alt-Del to log in.
Step 14 Log in as an administrator and enter the password you created earlier in this procedure.
Step 15 Choose Start > All Programs > Cisco Physical Security Operations Manager 5.1 >
Administration Console.
Step 16 When prompted, enter the following to login
Server Name: localhost
User Name: administrator
Password: cisco
PSOM Licensing
Upon your initial log in, you see a message that the system requires a license key.
Your PSOM license key controls access to the Administration Console, Operation Console, EZ-Track
functionality, and other key features. Your license key may have an expiration date, depending upon the
product purchased.
The license key is a 25-character string that you receive from Cisco or your reseller.
Step 1 Click Yes to update the license key.
Step 2 When the License Key appears, click Update Key.
When the License Key window appears, enter your license key in the fields provided and click OK.

PSOM Client Installation
PSOM Client Installation
The PSOM client software consists of the following files. These files are located on the PSOM server in
the c:\Files\Proximex folder, or you can download from Cisco.com.
PSOM UI applications:
PXConsoleSetup.msi (for a client that is running a 64-bit operating system)
PXConsoleSetup_x86.msl (for a client that is running a 64-bit operating system)
Video adapter:
PxVideoAdaptorSetup-Cisco6.3
The PSOM client is required both on the PSOM server and on an external machine that you use to access
PSOM. The PSOM client is preinstalled on the PSOM server.
Before You Install the Client
Verify that the following software is installed and running on your machine before you install the
PSOM client:
Operating system. The client operating system should be the same version as the version that is
required for the Cisco Video Surveillance client. Currently, the Cisco VSM client requires either
Windows 7 or Windows XP SP3.
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
Install axc_setup.exe. An easy way to install this file is to connect to a Cisco VSM server via a
browser and follow the prompts to download and install the VSM client.
To install the client, follow these steps:
Step 1 Install the PSOM UI (PXConsoleSetup.msi) by running this file and following the prompts.
Step 2 Install the appropriate PxVideoAdaptorSetup-Cisco6.3.msi) by running this file and following the
prompts.
Integration Module Installation
You can install the following integration modules:
CPAM integration module—For information, see Configuring Cisco Physical Access Manager
